Meet Ekeney, a true embodiment of empowerment and tenacity. Eliakeney Njau, affectionately known as Ekeney, stands tall as the visionary founder and senior guide of Kilimanjaro Wanderwomen Tours. With an impressive record of over 70 successful Mount Kilimanjaro summits, Ekeney's journey is a living testament to breaking barriers and shaping destinies. Hailing from the Chagga tribe in Machame, she defied societal norms from a young age, proving that determination knows no boundaries. Famke van der Elst
International Mountain Leader at Mountful Hikes
Thanks to her parents, Famke has been spending time in the mountains since a very early age—she was even selected in the Young Netherlands Ski Team! Though Famke soon realized that competitive skiing isn’t for her, she kept on skiing and exploring the mountains with her friends. There’s nothing nicer for her in the world than setting off for a hike with her friends, her dog, and a delicious picnic, which inspired her to sign up for the International Mountain Leader training course in Switzerland. Having completed the course in 2018, Famke’s been taking other travelers to explore the Alps. Whether it’s snowshoeing, trekking, wildcamping, backpacking, or hiking, Famke is happy to show you the beauty of the Alps!
What do people think of our Solo Trips for Women?
Marci Wright-Smith

Saga lead us through a memorable experience. I found the pace and distance covered to be just right. Laugavegur trail in Iceland is rated one of the top through hikes in the world for good reason. This hike is a great way to experience the land of fire and ice.

Ludovic Botzung

A great organization. No complaints. Marion gave very good advice. I recommend without any hesitation. Thank you.

Cris & Janine

Saga was our tour guide in December 2019 – we don’t normally go on tours, but not wanting to drive in Iceland in winter and not knowing the language or culture we thought it best to try a tour. Definitely the best decision ever!!! Saga was brilliant!!! She’s friendly, young, full of energy without being over the top, competent, knowledgeable, accommodating (we had someone with a broken foot on our tour and the lengths Saga went to, so that she could participate, were so far above & beyond the call of duty it was phenomenal). Saga also had a wonderful way of incorporating a relevant story of Icelandic Culture into whatever adventure we were embarking on – we could’ve listened to so many more hours of her stories (and Love the accent!). Absolutely fantastic – Highly recommended!!

Sally Davies

I loved every minute of this retreat, me and my mum were not as fit as the rest of the group and pillie stayed with us the whole time as slow as we were. Everything was well organized (according to the weather) pillie is an amazing person and the retreat for both me and my mother was an unforgettable experience!
