Giuliana, Marcos, Thomaso, and Panos were an outstanding team. Amazing support and hospitality

Biking the Vicentine Route (Rota Vicentina) was beyond spectacular! Everyday we biked a different part of the Alentejo and discovered towns and scenery most Portuguese have not experienced.
It was an adventurous bike ride highlighting the natural beautify of the Alentejo. Sergio, owner of company along with Telmo guided and supported us every step. They added stops, visits to agricultural areas where we met and learned the process of making cheese, vineyards, distillery and incredible wild coast line. The restaurants they selected for our evening meals and hotels and Quintas were top notch. My husband and I are looking forward to signing up for another tour with Sergio.

Experiencing the Camino, Portugal and Spain on two wheels, simply the BEST. I have been fortunate to have enjoyed many bike tours. This one was exceptional: varied terrain along scenic route, powerful, easy to ride E bike, marvelous lodging, (castle, fortress, villa). The best: four caring, competent guides, who put safety first, followed by a lot of fun and laughs. Value added: included pre ride day ( time adjustment), winery tour, historic sites, tabas lunch, hot springs.

We had a great time with Juri. He was a knowledgeable guide of the area and the scenery of the ride was phenomenal.

Frequently Asked Questions About Cycling

  • Cycling is one of the most immersive ways to experience a destination – for 4 reasons.

First, there’s the pace. On a bike, you move slow enough to appreciate the details—a farmer tending his field, the scent of pine trees on a mountain pass, the sound of waves crashing along a coast—but fast enough to cover ground and discover hidden corners you might otherwise miss. Cycling allows you to explore both iconic landmarks and off-the-beaten-path gems, all while feeling the rhythm of the terrain beneath you.

Then there’s the freedom. Unlike cars or buses, bikes offer a direct, intimate experience with the environment. You’re not just passing through; you’re part of the landscape. Whether you’re winding through vineyards in France, pedaling along the Amalfi Coast, or tackling mountain trails in Colorado, every hill, every descent brings you closer to the spirit of the place.

Cycling also encourages spontaneity. You can stop whenever you like to snap a photo, chat with locals, or simply soak in a breathtaking view. That kind of flexibility lets you truly savor the journey, not just the destination.

Finally, there’s the physical aspect. Cycling engages all your senses. You feel the wind, the sun, the shifting temperature as you ascend a mountain or ride into a valley. There’s a sense of accomplishment that comes with earning your views—reaching a scenic overlook by the power of your own legs makes that panorama even sweeter.

  • Total beginners with average fitness levels can enjoy cycling! Cycling—whether on roads or trails—welcomes riders of all levels. For beginners, it’s an incredibly accessible sport, offering a balance of fitness, adventure, and pure enjoyment.

One of the best aspects of cycling is its adaptability. You don’t need to be a seasoned athlete to get started. A leisurely ride through a park or a scenic bike path can be just as fulfilling as a multi-hour mountain ride. What’s important is starting at a pace and difficulty that’s comfortable for you.

For those worried about the technical aspects of cycling, rest assured: modern bikes, especially entry-level models, are designed for comfort and ease. Wide tires, relaxed geometries, and simple gearing help new riders feel in control and confident. If you’re unsure about where to start, city bikes, hybrids, or even e-bikes can be a great introduction.

Beyond physical benefits like cardiovascular fitness, cycling offers an opportunity to explore. From city streets to quiet country roads or forested paths, there’s a meditative joy in rolling through different landscapes. For me, mountain biking began with simple trails, and what started as a curiosity has evolved into a lifelong passion.

Don’t be afraid to start slow. Enjoy the ride, both literally and metaphorically. Cycling is not just about speed or technical skill. It’s about freedom, discovery, and a deep connection to the world around you—one pedal stroke at a time.

  • Some of the best cycling destinations in the world offer a unique blend of stunning landscapes, well-maintained routes, and a culture that embraces the joys of exploring by bike. From the rolling hills of Europe to the rugged wilderness of Patagonia, these destinations provide unforgettable experiences for cyclists of all levels.

    New Zealand

Few places match the diversity of New Zealand. On the South Island, Queenstown offers world-class mountain biking with dramatic alpine backdrops, while the Otago Central Rail Trail provides a scenic, relaxed route through golden valleys and old mining towns. The Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail, stretching from Mount Cook to the Pacific, is a multi-day adventure through some of the planet’s most diverse terrain.

    Tuscany, Italy

Cycling through Tuscany is like riding through a painting. Rolling hills, vineyards, and cypress-lined roads make this region a dream for road cyclists. The gentle terrain, combined with a rich cultural history, creates an experience that’s as much about the journey as the destination—where every ride ends with fine wine and local delicacies.

    The French Alps

If you’re seeking a challenge, the French Alps are iconic. Climbs like Alpe d’Huez and Col du Galibier, made famous by the Tour de France, will provide steep ascents and breathtaking views. The Alps cater to both road cyclists and mountain bikers, with thrilling descents and alpine scenery that never fail to impress.

    California, USA

California’s diverse geography offers everything from the coastal drama of Big Sur to the vineyards of Napa Valley. The Pacific Coast Highway is a bucket-list route for road cyclists, while the trails around Lake Tahoe are famous among MTB-ers. With a mild climate and cycling-friendly culture, California is perfect for year-round riding.

    Mallorca, Spain

Mallorca has become a top destination for cyclists, particularly road riders. Its smooth coastal roads and the challenging climbs of the Tramuntana Mountains draw cyclists from all over the world. The island’s mild weather, scenic routes, and vibrant cycling community make it a must-visit for any serious rider.

  • You don’t need an expensive bike to enjoy outdoor cycling. A reliable, well-maintained entry-level bike—be it a sturdy hybrid, a comfortable road bike, or a dependable mountain bike—can provide a fulfilling experience on various terrains.

What truly matters is the adventure and connection to nature. With a decent bike and a spirit of curiosity, riders can uncover stunning landscapes and local culture that often go unnoticed when traveling by car.

Investing in a good helmet and basic accessories can enhance comfort and safety without breaking the bank. Ultimately, cycling is about the joy of movement, the thrill of exploration, and the freedom of the open road. Whether you’re on a high-end machine or a budget-friendly bike, embrace the ride and let the journey unfold.
