Mountaineering

Wow! What an amazing trip. Everything ran smoothly, from booking to the adventure itself. We felt truly looked after – everything was well planned. PJS were a great team. Couldn’t recommend highly enough. Will definitely be doing another PJS challenge!

Max has been my instructor and guide for many years, and I’m so grateful to have had such a fantastic mentor in how to safely interact with the beautiful environments that mountaineering and rock climbing brings. I first met Max during a week-long introductory course to mountaineering, and was immediately taken by his philosophy of bringing safety and fun together. Max is extremely knowledgeable, patient, diligent, and fun. His enthusiasm for mountaineering is infectious, and continues to be my mentor in mountaineering.

Great Shasta summit experience with SWS! My family had a 5 person private climb with Kory and Jackson, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. One of our party had to turn around due to altitude sickness, so one guide ensured he made it to camp safely while the other made sure the rest of us got our boots on the summit! Summit aside (it’s optional, down safely is mandatory) the whole experience was educational, pushed us in all of the right ways, and one I’d love to do again!

I have used Black Sheep Adventure Sports for Technical mountaineering courses, guided trips, and rock climbing training. They are always my go to for whenever I am looking into guided trips and I argue they are the best in the business. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for highly trained, fun, and safe guides/instructors.

First class organization that cares about getting women into the wilderness with other women. From communication leading up to the trip to the actual in the mountains personal experience, AWExpeditions over the top delivers. I will work with this phenomenal expedition company again and gain.

Thank you to Mountain Trip guide, Maddie Crowell, on 8/24/2021, I successfully summited my first Colorado 14er – Wilson Peak near Telluride. This was a challenging day on the San Juan rocks but I loved the climbing on the false summit to the summit. Thank you to Maddie and Mountain Trip. I look forward to my next guided adventure with Mountain Trip!

I would follow Sunny anywhere! She is a strong, intelligent leader with a realistic understanding of the circumstances and limitations of the group in the moment and over the course of the expedition. Before the expedition, she set forth some expectations of ability with training milestones to meet to be set up for success. During the expedition, she will encourage and push for your own inner strength to shine through but will also suggest a descent if needed. That is why I’d follow her anywhere – I trust her level of awareness and knack for safety!!

Great experience. The guides are all first-class and super down-to-earth. Staying at the bunkhouse was cheap and easy. Gear is all first-rate. On day one we got the basics down (my brother and I had no winter mountaineering experience). On day two we summitted Mt Washington. Our guide had been up 63 out of his 67 attempts. He knew every inch of that mountain and we both felt totally at ease. An awesome experience! Excited to come back for some ice climbing.

Spend a day with Coby from NEM to improve my climbing skills. I couldn’t have asked for a better guide to spend the day with.

Sunny Stroeer is THE reason I summited Aconcagua on this expedition. She’s an excellent communicator, a thorough planner, rarely lets any minor detail slip through the cracks, and is attentive to everyone’s experiences on the mountain. Whether she’s hugging a fellow guide or describing past rockfalls and lessons learned on previous climbs, her expansive expertise and understanding of Aconcagua shines through at every moment. For anyone who wants to summit the biggest mountain of your life, I couldn’t recommend Sunny and AWExpeditions more.

I highly recommend this activity and company! They were extremely flexible and wonderful to work with! I got the days of activities mixed up and they were able and willing to push back the start time. They also took amazing photos so I could enjoy the activity and not worry about snapping photos along the way. I can’t say enough good things! Also, request Jason as your guide if possible! He was great!
