Itinerary

Hike, bike, climb, kayak, and swim on a journey through Croatia's stunning landscapes. From ancient towns to turquoise waters, you'll explore Plitvice Lakes and Croatia's National Parks, summit mountains, and bike through charming hilltop villages. Experience rich culture, savor truffles and wine, and immerse yourself in unforgettable adventures. Each night, we’ll unwind at 4-star hotels and comfy B&Bs. It’s all about mixing adventure with comfort, exploring stunning places, and having a blast with a group of women who are ready for the perfect escape.

  • Welcome to the home of 4 million(ish) generous, nature-loving people who want you to have at least three food helpings. Beyond the mainland there are over 1,200 islands (48 are inhabited) – all with stunning Adriatic Sea views and gorgeous Gothic architecture.

All that jet lag will kindly slip away the second you peep Zagreb’s Austro-Hungarian architecture. After a quick pits and bits refresher at your hotel, we’ll gather for an afternoon guided walk through Croatia’s capital city. We’ll wrap up our walking tour with a spirited welcome dinner in the old town.

    Meals: Dinner
Accommodation: 4-Star Hotel within 5-10 minutes walking distance of popular sites, Shared Doubles

Women’s night out in Zagreb, Croatia
  • After breakfast, we’ll drive three hours to explore the storybook scenery of the Istrian countryside, Croatia’s culinary darling! Agenda: hop on our E-bikes to take in the sights, smells and tastes up close. We’ll glide along the famous Parenzana Trail, a former railroad between Trieste and Parenzo (Poreč). We’ll cruise the hilltop towns of Grožnjan, Oprtalj, and Motovun, pedaling through farmland and olive groves, buoyed by the aroma of trailside herbs and flowers.

A stop in the charming Grožnjan will introduce you to the town of artists and music. Since 1965, artists from all over the world snatched up the houses abandoned by Italians after WWII. As many as twenty galleries and art studios can be found all over the city! We’ll continue riding the trails through the forest and old train tunnels. Prepare to visit one of Croatia’s best olive oil producers and enjoy a tasting of oil along with a spectacular local lunch. We’ll then rejoin the Parenzana trail for the final push to the foot of Motovun, one of many spectacular, medieval fortified villages perched high on the Istrian hilltops.

As for your luggage, it’ll be waiting for you that evening in Motovun. Just carry what you’ll need for the day.

    Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
    E-biking: 22 miles (35,4 km), about 3 hours
Accommodation: 3-star charming B&B atop Motovun with panorama views from the terrace. Shared Doubles.

  • On day 3, we’ll continue E-biking along the Parenzana toward Motovun’s forested truffle hunting hub. A local truffle hunter will talk fungi to us before we embark on a curated truffle hunt! Yes – there will be dogs.

Later, we’ll visit a local winemaker and try the best vintages of Malvasia, the queen of Istrian wine cellars. After an amazing truffle lunch, we’ll drive onward to Plitvice Lakes National Park.

    Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
    E-biking: 18 miles (29 km), about 3,5 hours
Accommodation: 4-star Hotel near the entrance of Plitvice with a pool. Shared Doubles.

  • Today, we’ll enter the world-famous Plitvice Lakes National Park – the oldest and largest National Park in the Republic of Croatia. A shimmering water orgy of 16 named lakes and several smaller unnamed lakes was formed by tufa or travertine. Fun fact: The Plitvice Lakes were internationally recognized on the UNESCO World Heritage List on October 29, 1979.

Today we’ll beat the crowds, entering the park early to explore the wooden boardwalks just by the lakes and the countless waterfalls. We’ll learn all about the local flora and fauna, as well as the fascinating geography and geology of the region.

Then it’s onward to the coastal town of Starigrad Paklenica where we’ll check in to our hotel on the shores of the Adriatic Sea. Afternoon dip, anyone? If desired, we can arrange on the spot an optional afternoon rock climbing in Croatia’s climbing mecca or hike out to a stunning viewpoint and enjoy the sunset high above the sea.

    Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
    Hiking: 5 miles (8 km)
Accommodation: Local Guest House in Starigrad Palenica on the shores of the Adriatic. Shared Doubles.

  • After breakfast, we’ll drive in off-road vehicles on the rustic route to Velebit, a fantastic mountain range that follows the coastline of central Croatia. It is wild and pristine, offering beautiful views up to 1,700 meters above the Adriatic Islands. It’s also home to Paklenica National Park with interesting rocky formations, extensive forests, and grassy peaks where we’ll hike, scramble, and climb a Via-Ferrata to summit Bojin Kuk. Challenging your fear of heights, the path snakes up the peak using a built-in cable system. Fear not, all safety equipment is provided and mountain guides will lead the way.

We leave plenty of time in Zadar where you’ll be free to roam. Be sure to catch what Alfred Hitchcock claimed to be the most beautiful sunset in the world with the otherworldly music from the Sea Organ humming behind you. Enjoy dinner on your own.

    Meals: Breakfast, lunch
Hiking: 6,2 miles (10 km), about 4-5 hours
    Elevation: 1,640 ft (500 m)
Accommodation: 4 star Hotel in Zadar inside the historical core. Shared Doubles.

  • On day 6, we’ll hop aboard our bougie private boats in Zadar. Next stop: Kornati National Park, a smattering of more than 80 islands. We’ll swim, snorkel, gorge ourselves on seafood, and scramble up a peak for a bird’s eye view of the islands.

Today is a super chill day to vibe with the labyrinth of islands and untouched nature. Underwater you’ll see schools of fish, impressive coral, and stunning undersea landscapes.

We’ll finish the trip in Šibenik, enjoy a coffee (or cocktail) and drink in the amazing Old Town before transferring to the gorgeous renaissance city of Split. Enjoy an evening stroll and dinner on your own.

    Meals: Breakfast, lunch
Accommodation: 4 star Hotel in Split minutes walking from Diocletian’s Palace. Shared Doubles.

  • Our last full day in Croatia packs in some truly special city and sea exploration. We’ll explore the quieter side of Split more slowly today, enjoying some truly stunning kayaking, more swimming, and wolfing down lunch on a secluded beach accessed only by sea. Oh, and all the cliff jumping!

We’ll return late afternoon to Split, leaving you plenty of time to swoop up all the last minute souvenirs, get lost in the maze of the palace, or to simply enjoy a glass of wine on the promenade. In the evening, we reconvene for our farewell dinner.

    Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
Sea kayaking: 7,5 miles (121 km), about 6 hours
Accommodation: 4-star Hotel in Split minutes walking from Diocletian’s Palace. Shared Doubles.

I went on the Croatia trip with Explorer Chick and was blown away by how well this tour is put together. Not only were the locations we visited amazing, the meals were wonderful, the comradery with the rest of my tour was special, and our guide, Kayla Lamb was unbelievable with all of the details and making our trip enjoyable. I can’t wait to take another trip with Explorer Chicks, particularly any with Kayla as the guide!

Going into my first ever group travel trip, I was nervous that I’d have regrets … Explorer Chicks and the Croatia Multisport Adventure Tour was the best travel experience of my life (so far) and went above and beyond anything I could have planned on my own. The trip was full of truly unique experiences, adventure, local culture, endless delicious food, meaningful conversations with fellow explorers, and plenty of laughter. Kayla (American EC guide) and Ana Marija (Croatian EC guide) took care of every detail (including our safety), were great leaders and fun company, and brought the group together with their support and encouragement. The trip cost is 100% worth it! And Croatia is a beautiful land with kind and welcoming people and adventure around every corner – everyone must go!

Explorer Chick is a gem of a company. If you’re looking for adventure in your life and don’t know where to start, please book a trip. You’ll be supported by kind, like-minded women and the guides serve as your outdoor liaisons, cooks, drivers, planners and friends. I’ve been on several trips and never regretted it. The trips have always been wonderful.

I went on the multi-sport trip to Croatia and had the time of my life! Our guide Kayla and local guide Ana were amazing and our group was so well cared for. Additionally, we were guided by other amazing professionals for ebiking, hiking, and kayaking. I am 100% booking another trip. I loved the via ferrata and learned that is a method of hiking, not a mountain!

  • This trip is rated Moderate because of the overnight E-Bike tour on the first 2 days and the Via Ferrata.

You’ll be riding hardtail mountain E-Bikes for 2 days on a mix of gravel rail trails and paved roads. The elevation changes are undulating and gradual until your final push up to the town of Motovun. You’ll be happy to crank the motor for the climb. No E-Bike experience is necessary. If you can ride a bike, then you can ride an E-Bike. It is recommended to spend time on a bike before your trip to “break in your butt.”

The Via Ferrata is a fun, challenging jaunt in the mountains. It involves hiking and scrambling up rock faces with the assistance of a built-in cable system. Those with a fear of heights will feel extra challenged. But you got this.

Please consider your ability to meet the physical demands very seriously. It is for the safety of both you and our group. All participants will be required to sign an Acknowledgement of Physical Demands as part of their waiver upon booking.
