Learn all about greener options for travel, a mostly 100-mile diet, and carbon footprints as you explore the endless opportunities and feel the adrenaline on some of the best slopes in the world. Revelstoke wilderness offers a myriad of breathtaking and challenging slopes, couloirs, and glades. After you’re all skied out for the day, head back, relax and see how you can make the world a better place.

Trip Highlights


Day 0: Meet and greet

Fly into Kelowna and meet your guide Greg Hill. Greg will pick you up in an electric car and your green adventure will begin! Drive for 2 hours to Revelstoke where you’ll be dropped off at your accommodation which will be organized with your guide. Relax and get acquainted with Revelstoke. Your guide will help with your meal, one mostly sourced from within 100 miles and get ready for some ski touring. Also if you haven’t already, you can fill out a Carbon Calculator and see where you are at with your carbon emissions!

P.S. If you’ve always wondered what it’s like to drive an electric car, you can rent one on and explore the area over the next few days! Your guide will explain how it works, where you can charge it, and give you some tips and tricks.

Downtown Revelstoke , BC, Canada

Day 1: Rogers Pass

Your guide and environmentalist Greg will pick you up in the morning and take you (electrically) to the historic Rogers Pass. After an hour of avalanche training, it’s time to get skinning! Hours of informal conversation on the environment and adventure will bring you to the top of an untracked run of the best powder skiing you have ever experienced. Spend the day searching for more deep powder and head home. Head back to your accommodations and relax in the hot tub. After local appetizers, Greg will present on “5 ways to lower your carbon footprint”, followed by dinner where this conversation can continue.

Day 2: Monashee Mountains

Head deep into the Monashee Mountains or another spectacular range in the area and ski amongst massive old-growth trees and up into the alpine. By skiing the incredible snowy slopes, you will notice the Columbia river coursing below and the Revelstoke Dam creating the renewable electricity powering this adventure in so many ways. Enjoy a relaxing evening eating a meal from locally sourced ingredients and reminiscing about the day.

Driving: 20 km | 12 mi
Electric Snowmobiling: 30 km | 18 mi

Day 3: Return to Rogers Pass

Return to Rogers Pass for some more fantastic skiing! Skin and hike your way to a summit, pull your skins and ski.  Once you feel all skied-out for the day, head back to town and eat at Woolsey Creek. Over the dinner you will calculate the carbon footprint of this vacation and then explore and discuss possible offsets with Greg.

Day 4: Say goodbye to Revelstoke

All great things come to an end, but we’re sure you’ll come back as soon as possible! Ideally, you’ll leave satisfied with your skiing and armed with new knowledge to live a greener and better life.

In most cases, group sizes will be reduced, guides will avoid overcrowded locations, and other safety measures will be met depending on the location and activity.

How fit do I need to be?

In order to enjoy this backcountry adventure, you need to have a moderate level of fitness. You will be on your feet for a full day. While there is terrain for all skill levels in Revelstoke, you will need to manage controlled descents in variable conditions. All participants should feel comfortable on challenging blue or black-level resort runs and be able to carry a loaded daypack while skinning up variable degrees of terrain.

For the enjoyment and safety of everyone involved, participants must be approved to participate in advanced backcountry skiing tours either through a previous trip with the guiding service or through recommendations.

What if I’ve never backcountry skied before?

Backcountry skiing isn’t just for pros looking for the ultimate thrill ride, it’s also beginner-friendly, meaning anyone with challenging blue or black-level resort experience can have fun in the backcountry. If you’ve never backcountry skied before, heading out with a guide is your best bet. They’ll take care of the planning, introduce you to the basics, like skinning uphill, and teach you how to manage the terrain. They also have the experience and avalanche training to keep you safe. 

What equipment do I need to bring?

For technical backcountry ski touring gear, you will need to bring:

  • Alpine touring skis, telemark skis or splitboard with skins (can be rented)
  • Touring boots and poles (can be rented)
  • Avalanche safety equipment (can be rented):
    • Digital, 3-antenna avalanche transceiver or beacon
    • Lightweight snow shovel
    • Avalanche probe


For personal items, we recommend bringing:

  • Helmet
  • Sunglasses or ski goggles
  • Gloves and hat
  • Wind and waterproof shell jacket with hood (Gore-Tex recommended)
  • Ski pants (Gore-Tex recommended)
  • Down jacket or vest
  • Synthetic or wool base layers, underwear and socks
  • One triple-action locking carabiner or two conventional locking carabiners
  • Repair kit and Leatherman for your equipment (can be shared between several people)
  • Water bottle and 1L of water
  • Thermos with a warm beverage — optional
  • Food you can eat on-the-go
  • First aid kit
  • Sunscreen
  • Daypack large enough to carry all items listed (around a 30-40L backpack)
  • Camera — optional

All mandatory gear can be rented if you don’t have your own. You can rent:

The rental gear location is in Revelstoke and should be picked up the night prior to your outing. If you need to rent gear, let us know and we can help make arrangements.

Group sizes and age requirements

Groups and pricing:

  • For this adventure, the max client to guide ratio is 6:1.
  • It takes a minimum of 3 people for this tour to run.
  • The cost per person doesn’t decrease as the group grows.

Ski touring in Revelstoke can be arranged for larger groups. Contact us to make arrangements.

Min. age requirements:

  • Everybody over the age of 18 is welcome to book this backcountry skiing adventure.
  • Minors may be permitted to join private tours on a case-by-case basis. 

If you plan to ski with anyone under the age of 18, please contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

Getting there and meeting location

Kelowna International Airport (YLW) is only a two-hour drive from Revelstoke, BC. Your guide will meet you there and drive you to Revelstoke where your green adventure begins.

Once you and your guide agree on the details, your guide will suggest the best place to meet.
