Rock Climbing Holiday in Tarifa, Southern Tip of Spain

Though it’s super famous for kitesurfing and its golden sand beaches, Tarifa is also a climbing paradise. This buzzing town at the very south of Spain has climbing routes with epic views of the Strait of Gibraltar and the Moroccan Coast just a stone’s throw away! With over 250 routes ranging from beginner-friendly to advanced, there’s something for everyone here on the cliffs of tough sandstone—and I know these crags like the back of my hand, as I’ve been climbing in Andalusia since the mid 80s. After a day of climbing, what better way to end the day than enjoying Tarifa’s vibrant atmosphere and stunning beaches? If you’re craving some fantastic climbing, tasty food, and unbeatable views, Tarifa is the place to be.

Good physical shape is important, but don’t worry—regardless of your climbing grade, you’ll always find a partner matching your level, and if that’s not the case, your guide will be there for you.

Rock climbing is more about using good movement technique rather than muscling up a cliff using brute strength. To ensure you have a fun retreat, your guide will be there to supervise the climbing and to help all the climbers to improve their skills, and to choose routes that best suit your skill and fitness level.

  • Your guide will bring ropes and quickdraws for the group. It’s recommended that you bring your own climbing shoes, harness, belay devices, and helmet if you use one. There are no rental shops in Tarifa, so it’s best to bring your own equipment. If you’d like to bring your own ropes and quickdraws, that’s even better since you’re used to them.

For colder months (October through February), it’s advisable to bring along some warm clothing, particularly for the afternoons and evenings. Additionally, pack shorts and several t-shirts as it can get hot during midday when exposed to the sun.

      • Camera — optional (but recommended)

      • For this Tarifa climbing holiday in Spain, the usual client-to-guide ratio is 6:1.
      • It takes a minimum of 2 people for this tour to operate. The maximum group size is set at 8 participants. Please note that if there’s a larger group coming, they will need to secure daily transfers to climbing areas. If it’s a smaller group, transfer is included.

      • 100% refunded (minus the booking fees and the eventual non-reimbursable expenses the company paid to organize the tour) if the cancellation is notified in writing up to 60 days before the first day of the tour.
      • 75% refunded (minus the booking fees and the eventual non-reimbursable expenses the company paid to organize the tour) if the cancellation is notified in writing between 59 and 30 days before the first day of the tour.
      • 50% refunded (minus the booking fees and the eventual non-reimbursable expenses the company paid to organize the tour) if the cancellation is notified in writing between 29 and 21 days before the first day of the tour.
      • 0% refunded (or 100% paid) if the cancellation is notified in writing by less than 21 days before the first day of the tour.

If bad weather or unsuitable conditions force the guide to cancel the trip, Kookoo Climb will:
    a) propose a similar activity at a different place where conditions are better, or b) propose to postpone the activity until a later date, or c) cancel. If you refuse option a), the cancellation policy will apply. Please note, however, that the call to cancel a trip due to bad weather can only be made by the guide (not the client). Under exceptional circumstances, the company could, however, decide at his sole discretion to refund the client (minus the transaction fee).

We highly recommend purchasing a comprehensive protection policy from Redpoint, which will protect you both before and during your travels. Before your departure, your investment is protected by the trip cancellation benefit. Once you depart, your policy provides coverage for trip interruption, medical assistance and rescue, baggage loss, trip delay, and more.
