Guies de Muntanya de Montserrat

Guies de Muntanya de Montserrat
The people who make up Guides de Muntanya de Montserrat have two fundamental things in common: the passion for the mountains and the mountain of Montserrat. Its fantastic rocky, barren appearance captivated us when we first began hiking and climbing. Indeed Montserrat is a unique, emblematic mountain in Catalonia, and has always been of paramount importance in the history of the activities they offer.

We were in Barcelona for a week and decided it would be nice to get out to Montserrat to climb. Not knowing the lay of the land we decided to get a guide. It was a great choice. It was a beautiful day and we had amazing views. Lisi was super helpful and walked us through our first multi-pitch route. It helps we’ve done a fair amount of sport climbing. I’d make sure anyone doing that has the basics down or sticks to single pitch.

I climbed in Montserrat with Fransesc and had a wonderful experience. From the beginning Fransesc provided a lot of information about the climbing options so that I could choose a route that was a good fit for me. The morning of the climb we met, Fransesc provided all the relevant gear, and we set off for a wonderful, 6 hour adventure. Fransesc is an incredibly experienced climber himself, able to manage all the relevant technical and safety details with ease, and a fun and reassuring guy to climb with. I would absolutely work with his company again, and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a unique adventure in this part of Spain.

We went on one day climbing in Montserrat with Francesc as a guide. He suggested a multi pitch climbing. It was our first ever multi pitch and a highlight of our trip to Spain. He was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Thanks, Francesc. You make it very tempting to come back next year.

  • One of the reasons why Montserrat is one of the international rock climbing destinations is that it offers a wide range of climbing options suitable for climbers with various fitness levels and skills. Your Catalonia climbing trip can be geared at beginners, but it can also be a real rock climbing challenge designed for advanced climbers aiming to push their limits.

Those with limited climbing experience can find introductory routes focusing on technique rather than pure strength, while more challenging routes demand higher levels of strength, endurance, and flexibility. Overall, a basic level of cardiovascular fitness and muscular strength is advantageous, but Catalonia and Montserrat in particular offer options for climbers of all fitness levels.

Whether you’re a novice climber looking to learn the ropes or an experienced climber seeking new challenges, Montserrat offers something for everyone. So, whatever your choice, the guides will adapt your Catalonia climbing trip to your wishes and abilities.
