While your guides provide most of the gear for this lead climbing course for beginners, you will need to bring your own climbing shoes and harness. Your guides also have belay devices, slings, and helmets, but you might prefer to bring your own.
Here’s a list of the equipment you need to bring:
-
- Day pack large enough to carry everything you might need throughout the day (around a 25-40L bag)
- Reasonably tight climbing shoes
- Harness
- Helmet
- Belay device
- 2 screw gate carabiners
- 60 cm sling
- Sleeping bag
- Water bottle or hydration bladder (2L capacity)
- Lightweight approach shoes
- Comfortable clothes
- Spare clothes for layering
- Waterproof rain jacket
- Down jacket
- Sunhat
- Toiletries (sunscreen, hand sanitizer, bug spray, tissues, etc.)
- Headlamp or flashlight
- Sunglasses
- Camera — optional (but recommended)
Dress comfortably and for the weather in clothes you can move in. We suggest bringing clothing appropriate for the season. Layers are best and don’t wear jeans.

I had an amazing experience with Rockbusters in Frankenjura. It was my first time lead climbing and my learning curve was immense! Definitely got pushed to my limits in a positive way. It was also very insightful to learn from such experienced climbers as Jan and Klemen Becan. We climbed every day even when it was raining and also had very fun evenings with beers and bbq. Would recommend 100%
