Istria, Croatia, is a destination that draws travelers from around the world. Known for its stunning Mediterranean views, ancient hilltop towns, and gastronomic treasures like truffles, cheeses, and local wines, it’s a paradise for anyone seeking a blend of culture, nature, and flavor.
But beyond its culinary and scenic beauty, Istria is also an emerging hotspot for rock climbers, offering a playground of limestone cliffs that blend adventure with jaw-dropping landscapes.
Istria’s limestone is a climber’s dream: solid, varied, and challenging. Whether you’re clipping bolts on single-pitch sport routes or tackling multi-pitch adventures, the region offers something for every climber.
The crags are set against the backdrop of the sparkling Adriatic Sea, providing views that are as rewarding as the climbs themselves. With cliffs ranging from vertical to overhung, and crags suited to all skill levels, it’s the perfect spot to test your technique or push your grade.

Luka is a Slovenian climber and mountaineer, who has been fascinated by mountains since he was a child. Ambitious from the very beginning, Luka has taken on some of the world’s hardest walls, he has established a number of routes around the world, and he has done several first ascents. Because of his connection to nature, Luka is aware of the role that sustainability and environmental awareness play. This is reflected in Mountain Lodge Istria, which he and Ines Papert renovated from the ground up with great attention to detail. He takes great pleasure in sharing his many years of knowledge.
Jasna Bozić Dušić has been climbing for over 20 years, and she’s also a certified climbing trainer and instructor. She is passionate about preserving the natural beauty of rocky landscapes and fostering a sustainable climbing culture for future generations. A mother of two, Jasna enjoys working with climbers of all skill levels. Jasna also teaches Vinyasa Yoga, sharing her expertise to promote a balanced lifestyle, driven by personal growth and mindfulness. She brings warmth and dedication to Mountain Lodge Istria, where she supports Ines and Luka in looking after their guests and managing the lodge.
Ines is a German climber and mountaineer, and she’s always enjoyed going places where hardly anyone’s been before her. Ines was the first person to stand on the summit of Likhu Chuli I in Nepal, and she’s been the first to climb many new, high-alpine routes around the world. As a multiple world champion in ice climbing, Ines understands that difficult routes and hard training can only be successfully mastered with a good base and perseverance. This is also what Mountain Lodge Istria stands for, which she and Luka Lindič rebuilt to offer climbers and mountaineers a wonderful base to explore Istria.
