Verbier is a mountain biker’s dream. Countless trails for all skill levels, piercing blue lakes, cottage-dotted hills, crisp Alpine air—it’s like stepping into a postcard. We fell in love with this area when we came here for a short trip 20 years ago, and we’ve called it home ever since. As the snow starts melting every spring, an unreal network of trails emerges. Trails for total beginners, trails for serious mountain bikers hungry for a real challenge. Come here for a few days or a week—we’ll take you to Verbier’s best-ofs, use local lifts to get high up in the mountains, and zoom down thrilling trails. The grass really is greener here in Switzerland. But you’ll see that for yourself once you come here for your MTB vacation.

    The Bike Chalet accomodation
  • Let’s go for a warm-up ride in Verbier. We’ll be using lifts to go from 900 m (2,950 ft) to 2200 m (7,220 ft). From here, we’ll traverse or climb higher to a beautiful single trail to get used to the altitude and the trails of Verbier. We use a perfect mix of the bike park and natural enduro trails, so everyone has the opportunity to ride at their own level. We’ll give some riding tips and show you all the best photo spots! Depending on the level and speed of the group, we can do several uplifts per day. There is always the option to climb even higher, but the lifts in the area offer plenty of options and access to the best trails in the area.

    High Alps MTB, two riders
  • We’ll use this day to do some shuttled rides in the Verbier area and further up the valley: Pas du lin with its beautiful loamy, and sometimes technical, terrain. We’ll be passing by some old mines and finishing with a roller coaster trail on a location that not many people know of. The second shuttle will take us to a beautiful place we call Little Canada, with a beautiful lake and a flowy and long descent back to the valley.

Mountains and forests, MTB in Verbier
  • We’ll be riding around Verbier once again, utilizing the lifts. Today we’ll be stepping up our game, find more demanding trails, and challenge everyone to do their best.

Big group MTB around Verbier in the Alps
  • Today we’ll explore wonderful trails in the Rhone Valley. We’ll use our shuttle to get to other lifts that can bring us to beautiful riding areas such as Crans Montana, Leuk, Jeizinen or Lötschental.

Riding in the Alpine scenery on a sunny day
  • Let’s end our week with a bang! Today we’ll tackle the other side of Verbier with an epic ride off the Col de Mille. Starting off with a shuttle, we’ll then have to cover around 800 m by riding and hiking. Beautiful traverses and technical descents are ahead of us—Verbier does not get any better than this. The other option is to do the Tour du Mont Fort, a big scenic tour with some easier single trails around the 4 valleys, with a visit to the highest point of Verbier at 3,300 m. And then, a 2,000-meter descent follows! Finally, when we get back to the chalet, we’ll treat ourselves with a homemade pizza from our pizza oven.

Erik and Jess run an absolutely amazing place. It’s a perfect chalet in a wonderful setting with nothing less than remarkable food prepared by a charming and highly talented man named Lee. Erik, Jes and Ben are the best guides I’ve ever been with, whether it be on foot or on a bicycle. They go to enormous effort to make sure you have an astonishing mountain biking experience everyday you are their guest. I’ve been to a number of great bike hotels and MTB Verbier is at the very top of the list. I couldn’t have had a better time with the most fun, warm, welcoming and hyper-competent hosts/guides I’ve ever met.

Had a great holiday! Everything has been thought of. All meals are delicious, great guides who communicate clearly about planning, etc. and a beautiful and, above all, clean stay that is fully equipped. I can recommend it to every mountain biker, regardless of your level.

      • For the 4 or 5-day stay, everyone’s welcome! All that’s required is that you can easily ride all your local loops, that you can control the speed and handling of the bike on hilly terrain. You should also be able to pedal 2-3 hours for several days in a row, covering 20-30 km (12.5-18.5 miles) with 600 m (1,970 ft) of elevation gain.
      • For the 7-day stay, you should have some MTB experience in different riding locations and mid-level mountains. You’re in control on moderately steep singletrack descents and climbs with some loose rocks and roots. You can ride unexpected steps (<20 cm) and rock gardens. You usually ride weekly and combine this with other workouts. You should be able to ride 4-6 hours at a moderate pace with short anaerobic periods for multiple days. The usual distance is 30-50 km (18.5-31 miles) with up to 1,000 m (3,280 ft) per day.

If you’d like to MTB in Verbier for a week, but don’t have the experience or abilities listed above, please let us know! Your guides have a special introduction to the Alps skills week for riders who don’t have a lot of experience yet.

If you’re a true MTB expert with years of experience and you look forward to pushing yourself on steep trails that are rooted, rocky, packed with jumps, drops, wall rides—MTB in Verbier is the perfect playground for you. Your guides will make sure to take you on the most beautiful and most difficult trails of the Swiss Alps!

  • While this tour is beginner-friendly, all that’s required is that you are in control of the speed and handling of the bike on hilly terrain. So no MTB experience is necessarily required, but you can easily ride all your local loops. You should also be able to pedal 2-3 hours for several days in a row, covering 20-30 km (12.5-18.5 miles) with 600 m (1,970 ft) of elevation gain.

  • Here’s a list of the equipment you need to bring:

      • Comfortable riding or athletic clothing, preferably moisture wicking or synthetic material
      • Duffel bag or suitcase for all of your items
      • Mountain bike (rental available for an additional fee)
      • Daypack large enough to carry all the items you might need during one day
      • Sneakers or sport shoes
      • Breathable outside layer or jacket
      • Sunglasses
      • Water bottle or hydration bladder
      • Leisure clothing for your free time
      • Biking gloves — optional but recommended
      • Regular mountain bike helmet
      • Flexible knee and elbow pads — optional
      • Toiletries (sunscreen, hand sanitizer, bug spray, toilet paper, etc.)

Dress comfortably and for the weather in clothes you can move in. We suggest bringing clothing appropriate for the season. Layers are best and don’t wear jeans.

  • If you’re coming to MTB in Verbier, your bike will need to be in top condition. A full suspension bike with 130 / 150 mm travel is required as well as gears suitable for steeps. It’s best to have the lightest gear you can find. On 2×11 set ups go for a 22 or 24 in front and a 42 on the rear cassette. When riding 1×11 or 1×12, a 28 or 30 set up in front (standard will be a 32 or 34 in front on most set ups) is recommended. You’ll definitely need those. When in doubt—the lighter, the better.

For tires, it’s recommended that you have a wider tire of a minimum of 2.3 with an all-round thread. Lightweight and narrow XC tires are not suitable. A dropper seat post is highly recommended or an easy way to lower your seat manually.

If you’d like to skip the hassle of bringing your own bike, you can rent one with your guides upon booking—and they’ll set you up with a specialized Stumpjumper alu, Stumpjumper carbon, or e-bike Turbo Levo bike!

  • Your guides pay special attention to food on this tour—and all meals are included! Breakfast and dinners will be enjoyed at the chalet each day and you’ll get a packed lunch to take with you every day. You’ll also have time to enjoy a cold drink or some snacks along the way. There will be an in-house chef at the chalet cooking delicious food with fresh produce!

Your guides will do their best to accommodate special dietary requirements, but please let us know what you need upon booking.

It’s recommended that everyone brings their own energy bars and powders, as you know best what you might need. This goes especially for people with certain allergies or intolerance.
