the Haute Route on mountain e-bikes with e-Alps is a “once in a life time” experience. I was impressed by the 5 * service. everything just worked ; the scenic bike trails, the lodging, the picnics, the rental mountain bikes… but especially the guides with their personalised tips & help with each & every participant. will definitely join again to try another route.

  • For this guided Haute Route e-MTB tour, you need to be in good physical shape. You will need to be able to bike between four and six hours for 4 consecutive days, crossing around 30 miles (50 km) each day. You should be an active person and exercise three days a week for at least 30 minutes. What is also necessary for this trip is that you have some limited MTB or off-the-paved-road cycling experience and have mastered some basic technical skills.

That said, keep in mind that this tour is designed keeping in mind the philosophy that adventures are for everybody! If desired, some sections can be hiked and some distances cut. Additionally, you will always be able to ride at your own pace—it’s not a competition. Furthermore, the terrain chosen for this tour is not rugged and highly technical—you’ll mostly ride on scenic paths and roads. If you feel unwell at any point during the day or no longer wish to ride, your guides will try to motivate you, but if that fails to, the follow-up vehicle will happily take you to the evening’s accommodation to rest and recover.

  • For this Haute Route e-mountain bike guided adventure, it is recommended that you have 1 year of mountain biking experience. You should be able to control your speed and trajectory on forest trails and flowing singletrack trails. If you have solid cycling experience, but haven’t tried mountain biking, it may be enough going off the paved road to prepare for this tour. Keep in mind that you will always have a guide by your side who will observe your technique, motivate you, and make the riding less strenuous if it gets too difficult for you. Another major thing to consider is that you’ll be aided by your e-bike, which makes riding considerably easier. Additionally, you will be able to opt for hiking instead of riding some sections. If at some point you won’t be able to finish a section for that day, there will also be an option to get transferred to your accommodation.

  • All essential MTB equipment will be provided by your guide if you rent their e-mountain bike. If you wish to bring your own bike, here’s what you’ll need:

      • E-mountain bike
      • Bike-specific brake pads (x2 sets)
      • Everything you need for repairs if you use tubeless tyres
      • Tyre repair kit, inner tubes, and a small pump
      • Chain specific “quick link”
      • Additional derailleur hanger
      • Spare parts (if your bike contains unique parts)
      • Extra battery for the bike
      • The key for your e-bike
      • Battery charger

Here’s the list of personal clothes/items you’ll need:

      • Daypack with a waterproof cover (20L capacity)
      • Athletic waterproof shoes appropriate for riding
      • Hiking shoes
      • Bike gloves and regular warm gloves
      • Cycling sunglasses
      • Knee and elbow pads — optional
      • Neck gaiter and a sun hat
      • Hydration system (Camelback is ideal)
      • Biking shorts (at least 2 pairs)
      • Long-sleeved base layers (merino wool ideal)
      • Short- and long-sleeved cycling tops
      • Waterproof jacket and warm down jacket for evenings
      • Sports socks (3 pairs)
      • Swimsuit and towel
      • Casual clothes to wear when not cycling
      • Sunscreen
      • Toiletries bag

Keep in mind that this guided Haute Route e-MTB tour occurs in the mountains, where the weather can be unpredictable. Therefore, it is important to have enough warm clothes and some waterproof layers—there’s no bad weather, only bad clothes!

  • Group sizes and prices:

      • The maximum group size for this group tour is 10.
      • It takes a minimum of 4 people for this tour to operate.
      • The cost does not decrease as the group grows.

E-Mountain biking along the Haute Route can be arranged for private groups. Contact us prior to booking.

    Min. age requirements:

      • If you are older than 18, you’re good to go.
      • Children as young as 14 are able to go on trips. That said, if you have a young rider in your group strong enough to handle sustained climbs (either riding or walking their bike) of hundreds of feet, then they can participate in the presence of a parent or a legal guardian.

If your group has riders under the age of 18, contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

  • To get to Vercorin, the starting point of the adventure, most people fly into Geneva International Airport (GVA), one hour away. Once you arrive, there are several ways to reach your destination. We recommend taking a train ride to the town of Sierre (2 hours). Sierre is located just 5 miles from Vercorin and they are connected by bus.

Once you and your guide agree on the details of your itinerary, your guide will suggest the best place to meet, usually in the center of Vercorin in the morning of Day 1. As riding begins right away, we suggest you arrive one day before the start of the Haute Route e-MTB and hike guided trip—especially if flying from far away.

  • For this tour, you will have to cover all your bases with both emergency medical and travel insurance. With medical insurance, if you have an accident or medical emergency on or off the trails, you’ll avoid paying out of pocket for costly expenses. This covers everything from hospital treatments to emergency air transportation and more.

Travel insurance covers canceled flights, natural disasters and other scenarios that may interrupt your travel plans.

We also expect you to respect local regulations and take measures to protect yourselves, your guides, and the communities you’re traveling to. For more information on travel recommendations and restrictions in Switzerland, please refer to Switzerland travel advice.

If you need assistance selecting the right insurance for your group, let us know and we will be happy to help!
