Simply the best guide I have ever met. Been guided us for three days of mountain biking. His trail choice was perfect. He couldn’t have been more accommodating. And his knowledge of the mountains was incredible. When I’m next in town I’ll be calling Ben.

I’m a lifelong road cyclist but I’ve been trying to get into mountain biking. I was in CB for a vacation and wanted to do some of the famous rides but didn’t feel confident giving it a whirl with my present skill level. So I found Colorado Backcountry while surfing around and figured I’d hire a guide or maybe take one of their skills clinics. I chose the latter, figuring it’d be more useful in the long term and I’m so glad I did. Andy Shabo was my coach and he was super personable and has a long history as a professional rider. We worked on what you typically think of when someone discussed “mountain bike skills” (cornering, braking, body position, and more) but the focus on using your eyes was a skill I didn’t know I didn’t have, and that will probably make the biggest difference. I know most folks who come to CB with a bike on the rack already have skills (or think they have them) but, if you’re getting into the sport, I think investing in at least one lesson is a wise investment in your fun, health, and safety. Thanks, y’all!

Ben was an excellent guide who knows the best trails to ride. He was super to hang out with for a day of riding.
