Andalucía is the kind of place that turns a cycling trip into something you’ll be talking about for years, vamos! Whitewashed villages, Moorish palaces, flamenco echoing off cobblestones at night—this guided tour strings it all together across 8 days, from Granada in the shadow of the Alhambra to the extraordinary Mezquita in Córdoba, with Ronda, Seville, and the white villages in between. Much of the riding follows the Vías Verdes, former railway lines converted into traffic-free cycling paths through olive groves and mountain landscapes, and a support vehicle handles the transfers so every kilometer you ride is worth riding.

Adventure Highlights

  • Four of Andalucia's greatest cities: Granada, Ronda, Seville, and Córdoba in one tour—each one a landmark in its own right, with guided visits to the Alcázar Palace and the UNESCO-listed Mezquita included
  • The Vías Verdes: Two of the best days follow converted railway lines through tunnels, across viaducts, and past olive groves for a traffic-free & gently graded experience
  • Food, flamenco, and 800 years of Moorish history: From tapas bars in Granada’s Albaicín to a farewell dinner in Córdoba’s ancient medina, the culture here is as rich as the architecture

The adventure, day by day

This 8-day guided cycling tour connects Granada, Ronda, Seville, and Córdoba through some of Andalucia's most spectacular landscapes. A professional guide leads every stage, with a support vehicle handling luggage and transfers between riding sections. Much of the route follows the traffic-free Vías Verdes through olive groves and mountain scenery. Evenings are spent in handpicked 4-star hotels in the historic center of each city, all meals from dinner on Day 1 through breakfast on Day 8 included. Total cycling distance is 215 km (134 mi) across 6 riding days.

Day 1: Arrival in Granada
alhambra aerial

Arrive in Granada (transfers from Granada Airport & Malaga Airport available) and make your way to the hotel, perched on the hillside with views over the city and the Alhambra—one of the world’s great architectural masterpieces, glowing against the Sierra Nevada backdrop. The guide welcomes everyone at 7:30 pm in the hotel lobby, followed by a welcome dinner at a restaurant above the old town.

Meals: Dinner
Accommodation: Alhambra Palace Hotel (4-star), Granada

Day 2: Sierra Nevada and fairytale Granada
Alhambra view of Granada

A short morning transfer takes us into the Sierra Huétor Nature Park, where we set off through beautiful mountain scenery on quiet country roads and forest paths with sweeping views of the Sierra Nevada peaks. The final stretch descends gently back toward the city. In the afternoon, we stroll through the atmospheric Albaicín district—narrow Moorish lanes, rooftop viewpoints, and the Alhambra framed perfectly across the gorge. The evening is free; if you haven’t already booked Alhambra tickets, do it well in advance.

Meals: Breakfast
Cycling: 27 km (17 mi)
Accommodation: Alhambra Palace Hotel (4-star), Granada

Day 3: White villages and the Vía Verde
andalucia bike adventure

A morning transfer brings us into the Sierra Subbética Nature Park, where the white village of Zuheros—dramatically perched beneath a medieval castle—marks the start of today’s ride along one of Andalucia’s famous Vías Verdes. We follow a converted railway line through olive groves, tunnels, and old viaducts: flat, traffic-free, and one of the most enjoyable stretches of cycling on the whole tour. In the afternoon, we continue by bus to Antequera, set beneath dramatic mountain scenery.

Meals: Breakfast, dinner
Cycling: 41 km (25 mi)
Accommodation: Parador Antequera (4-star), Antequera

Day 4: Lagoons, mountain landscapes, and Ronda
Panoramic view of the old city of Ronda

We begin in the rolling hinterland of the Costa del Sol, cycling through peaceful farming landscapes past traditional estates and reservoirs with rugged canyon scenery on all sides. The air here smells of wild thyme and oregano. A transfer then takes us up into the mountains to Ronda—one of Spain’s most extraordinary towns, dramatically perched above a deep gorge and crossed by soaring stone bridges.

Meals: Breakfast, dinner
Cycling: 36 km (22 mi)
Accommodation: Catalonia Hotel Ronda or Hotel Reina Victoria (4-star), Ronda

Day 5: Through the land of the Bandoleros
zahara de la sierra

We head into the Sierra de Grazalema, home to some of Andalucia’s most beautiful white villages. A transfer takes us to the mountain pass of Puerto de las Palomas, where vultures soar over the ridgeline, before we descend by bike through spectacular scenery toward Grazalema and Zahara de la Sierra—one of the most photogenic villages in the south. Back in Ronda for the evening, it’s easy to see why this town has captivated writers and poets for centuries.

Meals: Breakfast, dinner
Cycling: 35 km (22 mi)
Accommodation: Catalonia Hotel Ronda or Hotel Reina Victoria (4-star), Ronda

Day 6: The Vía Verde de la Sierra and Seville
sevilla main square

We start in the white village of Olvera, where the famous Vía Verde de la Sierra begins. Following the old railway line gently downhill through tunnels, across viaducts, and past olive groves, this is one of the most purely enjoyable cycling routes in Spain. After lunch, a bus takes us to Seville—Andalucia’s vibrant capital. In the afternoon, we visit the magnificent Alcázar Palace, a masterpiece of Moorish architecture. Our hotel sits in the charming Santa Cruz quarter, steps from the Cathedral.

Meals: Breakfast
Cycling: 35 km (22 mi)
Accommodation: Hotel Fernando III (4-star), Seville

Day 7: From Seville to Córdoba
bridge cordoba

We head into the fertile Guadalquivir Valley and begin our final cycling stage near the mountain town of Constantina—mainly downhill through cork oak forests, traditional ranchlands, and peaceful Andalusian countryside. In the evening, a bus takes us to Córdoba, once the capital of Moorish Spain and one of the greatest cities of medieval Europe. We take a first stroll through the atmospheric old town before a farewell dinner together.

Meals: Breakfast, dinner
Cycling: 41 km (25 mi)
Accommodation: Hotel Hesperia or Parador de Córdoba (4-star), Córdoba

Day 8: The Mezquita and departure
cordoba great mosque

This morning we visit the Mezquita—one of the most extraordinary buildings in the world. Its endless forest of marble columns and red-and-white arches is unlike anything else in Europe. Afterwards, depending on your flight, you head home via high-speed AVE train or transfer to Málaga. Note that the tour ends in Córdoba, which has no airport—plan accordingly (see “Getting there and meeting location” below).
