The beach clubs and cocktail bars are great, but they’re not why you’re here. Mallorca has a whole other side: ancient paths through almond groves, hilltop monasteries, wine villages, and a mountain range so wild and beautiful it earned UNESCO World Heritage status. This 8-day guided e-bike tour goes well beyond the shoreline, taking you through the fertile, unhurried heart of the island from Palma’s magnificent old town all the way to dramatic coastal cliffs and the orange-tree valley of Sóller. A wine tasting in Binissalem, three nights in a secluded mountain hamlet, and views of the Mediterranean from high above—this is the Mallorca that rewards the curious.

Adventure Highlights

  • The Mallorca most visitors never find: Most of the tour follows the ancient camis (historic island paths far from busy roads) through a Mediterranean landscape largely untouched by tourism
  • UNESCO mountains and dramatic coastlines: The Serra de Tramuntana is one of the great Mediterranean mountain ranges, and the ride from its heights down to the sea is something you won’t forget
  • Finca hotels and a wine tasting included: Two nights in a historic finca in Porreres, three nights in a secluded mountain hamlet, and a bodega visit with tasting in the DOC wine region of Binissalem

The adventure, day by day

This 8-day guided e-bike tour explores the unspoilt interior and dramatic mountain landscapes of Mallorca, following ancient camis and quiet island roads through a side of the island most visitors never see. A professional guide leads every stage, with a support van on hand for luggage, transfers, and technical assistance. The tour takes in Palma's historic old town, the remote monastery hill of Randa, the wine villages of Binissalem, the famous Lluc Monastery, the spectacular Cap de Formentor peninsula, and the charming orange-tree valley of Sóller. Total cycling distance is 303 km (188 mi) across 6 riding days.

Day 1: Arrival in Palma

Arrive in Palma, rooms are ready from 3 pm. The guide welcomes everyone at the hotel at 4:30 pm for a guided walk through the picturesque alleys and squares of Palma’s old town, which extends around one of the most beautiful Gothic cathedrals in the Mediterranean. An Arab mosque once stood on this site, and traces of Moorish rule linger in the filigree of the narrow streets, lined with old palaces whose ornate inner courtyards are occasional glimpses of architectural splendor. The evening ends with dinner at a traditional Mallorcan restaurant in the old town.

Meals: Dinner
Accommodation: Hotel Born (4-star), Palma

Day 2: Monastery hill Randa and the lowland of Es Pla
monti sion monastery

We head into the “Pla”—the fertile heart of the island, with its ancient estates, almond groves, and olive fields—for our first full day in the saddle. The route leads to the Randa Monastery, perched at 542 m (1,778 ft) atop the Puig de Randa, with sweeping views south across the island. We continue to the beautifully situated Montesion Monastery near Porreres, a former Jesuit school turned devotional site. After a lunch break in Porreres’ lovely town square, the day ends at our finca hotel in the island’s rural heart.

Meals: Breakfast, dinner
Cycling: 60 km (37 mi)
Accommodation: Finca Hotel Es Riquers (4-star), Porreres

Day 3: The traditional center of the island
sineu town mallorca

Today’s route follows the historic camis through the island’s quiet interior—paths you genuinely need local knowledge to find. We ride to Sineu, whose weekly market on the island’s most famous square draws visitors from across Mallorca, then continue to the traditional farming village of Petra, birthplace of Junípero Serra, the Franciscan friar who founded the city of San Francisco. On the way back, the route passes through villages piled with the colorful abundance of Mediterranean crops—artichokes, tomatoes, dates. The evening is free to explore Porreres on your own.

Meals: Breakfast
Cycling: 52 km (32 mi)
Accommodation: Finca Hotel Es Riquers (4-star), Porreres

Day 4: Wine villages and the foothills of the Tramuntana
mallorca sheep

We ride north along the dramatic edge where the Serra de Tramuntana meets the plain—one of the most visually striking landscapes on the whole island. The route passes through the wine village of Binissalem, home to Mallorca’s most celebrated DOC wine region, where we stop for a guided bodega tour and tasting. The closer we get to the mountains, the more the almond trees give way to ancient silvery olives. We finish in Binibona, a tiny hamlet tucked into a secluded mountain valley, where we’ll spend the next three nights.

Meals: Breakfast, dinner, wine tasting
Cycling: 50 km (31 mi)
Accommodation: Finca Binibona Parc Natural (4-star), Binibona

Day 5: Lluc Monastery and Mallorca's mountainous north coast
lluc sanctuary

We follow an ancient cami from Caimari up to the Lluc Monastery—a wide stone path built centuries ago that climbs steadily through old pine forest, the same route walked in pilgrimage processions for generations. The monastery itself, with its venerated Black Madonna statue, is well worth exploring. After lunch, the route descends dramatically from the mountains with breathtaking views of the deep blue sea, finishing at a Roman double-arched bridge at the entrance to the charming old town of Pollença, whose narrow streets, galleries, and Plaza Mayor make for a lovely coffee stop before the ride back.

Meals: Breakfast, dinner
Cycling: 51 km (32 mi)
Accommodation: Finca Binibona Parc Natural (4-star), Binibona

Day 6: Cap de Formentor and the walled town of Alcúdia
bay cap de formentor mallorca

Today’s route winds through a dramatic landscape of karst rocks and deep gorges toward Pollença, before the support bus takes us out to the famous Cap de Formentor—a rugged, inaccessible peninsula of vertical cliffs plunging into the sea, with views that justify every superlative. In the afternoon, we ride along the coast to Alcúdia, whose beautifully preserved medieval city walls and Roman ruins make it one of the most historically rich stops on the tour. The return follows picturesque low-traffic camis back through the inland mountains to Binibona.

Meals: Breakfast, dinner
Cycling: 60 km (37 mi)
Accommodation: Finca Binibona Parc Natural (4-star), Binibona

Day 7: Serra de Tramuntana and the valley of the orange trees
mallorca deia village

The day begins with a bus ride up into the high, wild mountains—and then the bikes take over at a magnificent viewpoint above the cliffs. We descend to Fornalutx, widely regarded as one of the most beautiful villages in Mallorca, and stroll its charming stepped alleyways before riding down into Sóller. The afternoon is free; hiking enthusiasts can join an optional walk to Deià—an artists’ village perched above the coast, famous as the longtime home of writer Robert Graves—through dense Mediterranean forest with surprising sea views.

Meals: Breakfast, dinner
Cycling: 30 km (19 mi)
Accommodation: Grand Hotel Sóller (5-star), Sóller
