Picture this: 13 days in Nepal’s Langtang Valley, just a group of awesome women and the mountains. The trail kicks off in Kathmandu, then we’re off-road to Syabrubesi. It’s nonstop views—snowy peaks, roaring rivers, and the occasional red panda if we’re lucky. We’ll hit old monasteries, cozy up in teahouses, and climb high to Tsergo Ri for epic Himalayan panoramas. Got a rest day? Cool. Catch your breath at Kyangjin Gompa or explore the cheese factory (yes, there’s cheese up here). This isn’t a vacation; it’s a journey. Come feel the altitude!

You can arrive in Kathmandu anytime on the first day, although it’s recommended to arrive as early as possible or the day before in order to have a day of rest. Transport is provided to the hotel. We will have a free day to explore the city, and we’ll spend the night in a hotel in Kathmandu.

Today, we will leave for Syabrubesi, a village in the Langtang National Park. This drive of around 7-8 hours will take us through winding hills and small villages. We will get to enjoy views of Annapurna, Manaslu, and the peaks of Langtang ahead. During the months of March and April, the rhododendron trees are in full bloom and full of trees, butterflies and birds. At Syabrubesi, there are traditional houses made of wood. There’s an option to go around the village with one of the crew members to explore.

Today is the first day of our trek. Crossing the Bhote Koshi river, we will make our way towards Lama Hotel. On the way, we may get to see the white monkeys, langurs, and many more animals such as red pandas, wild boars, and Himalayan Black bears. We’ll have lunch at Bamboo, and then continue to Rimche. The ascent to Lama Hotel is a pretty steep one, but a comfortable bed in a cozy room will be waiting for us at the top.

The Langtang Khola river is home to numerous bird species, wild monkeys, and the red panda. If we’ve missed them the other day, we may get to see them again today. Today, we’ll continue to follow the Langtang Khola, climbing steeply through hemlocks, oaks, and maples to Ghoratabela.
The next part of the trail is a reminder of the 2015 earthquake. Where Langtang village once was, there is now only a huge rock field. We will take a moment to offer our prayers for the ones who lay resting here, and move forward remembering that we are helping the survivors get back to their lifestyle. The trail ascends gradually and we will pass by many mani walls and prayer wheels before our arrival in the Langtang village.

After breakfast, we’ll make our way towards the Kyangjin Gompa village. We’ll climb gradually past the yak pastures, and as the valley widens, we will see more of the Langtang and Tsergo Ri. We will also see the first of Kyangjin Gompa and the dramatic icefall flowing from Langtang Lirung and Langtang Kinshung to the north.
Before we get to Kyangjin, we will have a panoramic view of mountains in all directions. Crossing two small ridges from the Chaitya leads us to the beautiful Kyangjin valley. We will return to our teahouse by mid-day where we’ll enjoy our lunch, with free time to explore the village in the afternoon.

Kyangjin Village is named after the gompa that has been there for more than six centuries now. Today, we can get our blessings from a holy person, and there is also a cheese factory nearby so we can buy some snacks and taste the unique yak cheese if we want to. We can climb up to the Kyangjin Danda, offering an exceptional panoramic view of the mountains, or we can lay back and chill for the day.

Today, we’ll be visiting the highest point of the trek, the Tsergo Ri viewpoint. From there, we will see perfect views of the Langtang Himalayas Range, lakes, and many other mountains. After spending some time at the viewpoint, we will return using the same route we took earlier. Retracing our steps, we will cross Kyangjin Gompa, and then stop for the night at Langtang Village.

Today, we will leave Langtang village, and follow the trail along the Langtang Khola. We will pass through Thyangsyap village, Pering Kharka, Ghoratabela, and Lama Hotel before reaching Rimche, where we will stay overnight.

On day 9, we will be leaving Rimche. First we’ll hike towards Sherpagaon village, and then towards Khangjim.

Today is the final day of trekking. We will head to Syabrubesi and stay there overnight.

We will have a city tour with the guide visiting Swayambhunath, also called Monkey Temple, Boudhanath Temple, and Pasupatinath Temple. These Buddhist and Hindu temples are famous for their uniqueness and beliefs. After a full day of touring, we will have a farewell dinner. Overnight in a hotel in Kathmandu.

It’s time to say goodbye. You’ll be transferred to the airport to catch your flight back home.

The Langtang Valley all-women trek is strenuous and challenging. Recent hiking and/or backpacking experience is highly recommended, as is excellent physical condition—you’ll be hiking 3-9 hours per day. You will need to prepare for a cardio workout and consult with your doctor before joining the trip given the high altitude above 3,500 m (11,483 ft). You will be required to familiarize yourself with the hazards and risks of high-altitude trekking, and sign a liability waiver and terms & conditions forms.
However, what makes this adventure significantly easier is that this is a supported trek; hence, you only carry a daypack with your essentials (porters are hired to carry your belongings). You will be staying in teahouses each night.

The starting point of your Langtang Valley all-women trek is Kathmandu. To get there, most people fly into Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.
Once you and your guide agree on the details of your itinerary, they will arrange for your pickup at the airport and transfer you to your accommodation in Kathmandu. After that, all you have to do is stay safe and have fun on this Nepal trekking tour!
