The adventure, day by day

This is a mountain biking and sailing tour at its finest—days spent riding island trails, nights aboard a luxurious sailboat with everything you need within arm’s reach. Exploring Croatia this way brings the coastline, food, and history right up close, far from the usual crowds. We’ll sail between islands in comfort, then jump onto rocky and macadam paths once used by farmers and ancient Greeks. These routes wind through forgotten villages, past old monasteries, along sweeping ridgelines, and down to quiet beaches few travellers ever discover. With years of guiding here, we know these islands inside out—and we’ll lead you straight to the very best of them.

Day 1: Trogir to Brač
Mountain bikers trying out the streets of Brač

Make your way to Trogir, Dalmatia, and start your week-long adventure! Have lunch before embarking on your sailing trip to the island of Brač. After a safety briefing around 4pm, board your catamaran and head for Milna, a traditional Dalmatian village on the island. Spend the afternoon sightseeing and enjoy a traditional dinner by the seaside.

Today your guide will take you on a trial run to assess your skill and fitness level. You’ll ride for 10 miles (15 km) with an elevation up to 1,640 ft (500 m).

Day 2: Brač to Hvar
Hiker photographing the Blaca monastery on the island of Brač

Head out for a 12-mile (20 km) bike ride from Milna to Blaca desert. The ride starts as a challenging uphill but turns into nice, rocky singletrack. Halfway down the trail, you’ll visit a 500-year-old Blaca monastery, a stunning landmark crafted fully in stone by the monks of old. The ride ends on a beautiful beach, where a boat will be waiting for you.

After a swim break, depart to the island of Hvar, where you’ll spend the night in Stari Grad, an ancient Greek settlement and the oldest town in Croatia.

Day 3: Hvar
Stari Grad Hvar and its waterfront

Today, you’ll ride the trail from Stari Grad to the town of Hvar, cycling across UNESCO-protected ancient Greek fields. Your sailboat will wait for you in a bay nearby. The town of Hvar is one of Croatia’s best-known party hot spots. Spend the night there, or head directly for the island of Vis.

Day 4: Vis
A mountain biker meanders through the island of Vis.

After a filling breakfast, choose how to spend day 5. You can ride hard (not recommended if you partied hard the night before), or take it easy and visit the world-famous Stiniva beach, located in a picturesque cove surrounded by massive cliffs. Afterward, you can choose to visit one of the many post-WWII bunkers on the island before heading out to do some evening wine tasting.

Day 5: Back to Brač
Riders riding a macadamia trail along some olive trees on Brač, Croatia.

Back to Brač! Brač is the highest island in the Adriatic, and today you’re going straight to the top! After a difficult uphill, ride some nice and long technicals. On your way back to the boat, visit a welcoming local family for some olive oil and wine tasting. Indulge in a local dinner there before heading back to your boat.

Day 6: Omiš or Čiovo/Korčula
Korčula town

One of the options for today is to head to Omiš, an ancient pirate town and Dalmatia’s MTB mecca! Here you can ride some terrific trails, enjoy thrilling rides. and drink one of the best beers in Croatia. Alternatively, this day can be taken into a totally different direction—Čiovo and Korčula, visits to these are possible as well! You’ll discuss this with your guide and your team once onboard.

Day 7: Omiš to Split or Trogir
Mountain biking on Ciovo

From Omiš (or wherever you settled on going the day before), go to Split or the medieval town of Trogir. If you’re up for it, you can take an optional bike ride to Čiovo, an island near Trogir, or explore Marjan hill, a 400-ft (123 m) high forest park with breathtaking panoramic views of Split and its surroundings.

Day 8: Departure
View of city center in old town Trogir

Disembark from your sailboat and head back to the airport. If you are going back to Zagreb and you want to see some epic waterfalls, stop by Plitvička Jezera, the most famous national park in Croatia. If you’re still in the mood for adventure, Zagreb has several mountain biking trails and a myriad of tourist attractions in the city!

Note

This itinerary may change based on weather and other conditions, but your guide will always ensure the best possible experience. It’s fully flexible—think of it as a suggested plan.

From Day 2 to Day 7, expect to ride between 12-30 miles (20-50 km) daily, adjusted to weather and group preferences.

What to expect when you charter a sailboat?

Renting a private charter means stepping onto a luxurious floating home designed entirely around your group. Your catamaran, the stunning Saba 50, offers spacious lounges, elegant cabins with ensuite bathrooms, and the comforts of a high-end boutique stay. Every element is fully customized: pace, daily mileage, difficulty level, routes, swims, meals, and downtime—all shaped around your preferences and fitness.

Your skipper and two expert local guides handle everything on the water and on land. They’ll craft a bespoke itinerary, recommend the most scenic anchorages, guide you to quiet coves or lively beach towns, and ensure you’re always stocked with supplies. Privacy, adventure, food hotspots, nightlife—it’s all adjusted to your group’s style.

Once you share your preferred dates, we’ll send tailored pricing and available options. Before payment, you’ll receive a full charter agreement and invoice. The price includes two experienced MTB guides with deep local knowledge, an expert skipper, and 8 days of exploring Croatia by sailboat and mountain bike. You’ll stay 7 nights on a luxurious, spacious catamaran, enjoy traditional Croatian breakfasts each morning, and have 4 cooked meals arranged in any lunch-to-dinner ratio you prefer. Also included are fruit, snacks, and water for daily outings, water and juice on board, welcome drinks with local wine and craft beer, plus sheets and towels, harbour fees, and boat fuel.

Final price depends on dates, upgrades, and add-ons—and since the yacht comfortably accommodates up to 8 people, inviting family or friends not only elevates the experience but also reduces the cost per person.

Important note

Please note: this is a fully private MTB & sailboat experience. The catamaran comfortably accommodates up to 8 guests—and the more people you bring, the lower the cost per person becomes.

Out of all the places we have traveled, Croatia is one of our absolute favourites. I think the group got tired of me exclaiming “incredible! Beautiful! I love it here!” every single time we stopped to regroup. The coastlines, the buildings, the wine and the food, everything was so beautiful and so clean!

The beauty of the islands, the friendly people, being on the water, and above all the exhilarating rides made this the trip of a lifetime. Yes it’s very expensive, so I know how lucky we were to be able to do it, but the quality of the experience is extraordinary. Unlike a road bike tour, an MTB group on a trail needs to be fairly small if the experience.

Was a trip of a lifetime! Terrific experience! Food both on the boat and on islands amazing - scenery spectacular, biking fun (but maybe a little too much pavement with competing for roadway space with cars - definitely dicey at times) and our guide Marko, chef Filip, and captain Bruno were over the top outstanding. They were the key to the excellence of the experience. Will definitely use 57hours again in the future.

We absolutely loved our mountain biking trip. We were taken on backcountry roads to explore the islands in a way most tourists would never get to experience. For those hard core riders in our group, the trails provided some challenging fun and for the less confident folk, our guides found us some great gravel trails or routes with absolutely stunning views. Overall, our trip was amazing - everything we could have wished for and more.

The terrain was challenging, and with some of our guests not being avid mountain bikers, the guides were able to find something for everyone. Travelling from island to island on the boat was relaxing and allowed us to see the country from the water. Lovely marinas and towns to explore.

Catamaran / emountain bike trip - 8 days. Four couples, and an additional friend - Captain even gave up his bunkroom for the additional friend. They cooked, and the food was better than the restaurants. They charted our course based on our level of energy and desire to "mix it up". SIMPLY THE BEST combination of cruise / ride / learn / eat and drink!

Our MTB adventure in Croatia was nothing short of extraordinary. Each ride unfolded against a backdrop of breathtaking scenery—coastal cliffs, forested singletrack, and panoramic views that made every climb worth it. The guides curated routes that balanced challenge and flow, with terrain that kept us engaged and inspired from start to finish. My only recommendations would be that extra towels and sheets be provided after day 3, but other than that I would highly recommend the experience.

Every island was interesting to tour! The views were spectacular, and the mountain bike trails more challenging than at home so our skills improved! Highly recommend renting an e-bike though as quite hilly terrain and you get to see more of the island.

It was a great! Every morning you just wake up to a delicious breakfast then head out to play with new friends, all day, amongst a back drop of architecture from times of the Venetians, Greeks and Romans. Narly down hills coupled with a civilized stop for a coffee or local gelato. The views were amazing... the ancients truly knew where and how to live.

Lots of great riding with some technical downhills through trails and villages. I would recommend the e-bike option as there is a lot of climbing. We actually did the first two days on a regular bike and as each day increases in climb and distance we opted to swap to the e-bikes for the remainder of the trip. The carbon Santa Cruz Heckler bikes were a great option for the terrain. The e-bikes allowed us to enjoy our trip that much more without having to worry about the punishing climbs. Overall it was an amazing trip.

Loved the boat & seeing the islands that way, riding around, seeing things we might not otherwise see.. our captain- Alex was amazing, very experienced, calm & knowledgeable of the area. They are all “local” so they know all the ins & outs.. we’re experienced mountain bikers & we were surprised to show up finding out EVERYONE, including our guides were on e-bikes. We don’t ride e-bikes & no one at any time suggested we should consider an e-bike & why.. we might not have come on the trip BUT I’m glad we did though, we did fine but beware, long climbs- 2-3 hr (3000 ft) of road on 10-17% grades- that was not in the description.. trails are more technical for the average person and maybe only one day did the ride up give the trail down justice.. we concluded that we’d be better off road riding- on road bikes should we chose to do that again. All in all- fabulous trip, Croatia is beautiful & we loved seeing it by boat, bike & touring the small, quaint towns.. ask questions & think about the e-bike option!

Great trip! It met our expectations and more. I can’t think of a better way to see Croatia than from mountain bikes and a sailboat. We were able to cover a lot of ground and see so much on the E-mountain bikes. Not to mention the raw, rocky terrain/trails were way more enjoyable with E-bikes, so I’m very glad we chose to go this route. There were just more options with E-bikes. Ivo offered quality bikes that were easy to rent and ready on arrival. We had one rainy day that we took off as a rest day, otherwise mid September offered beautiful weather in Croatia. Perfect temps for riding and still soaking up som sun. Not only was the riding good, but lounging on a sailboat everyday was pretty nice too. Beautiful views, great guides, cute towns, challenging yet fun trails, and good food!

This was a trip of a lifetime. I traveled with my husband for our honeymoon. The trip exceeded our Expectations. From the moment we stepped on the boat we were in heaven. We were shown our rooms and after we settled in Ivo and Jelena had snacks and a beer tasting ready for us. The meals provided were incredible, and the restaurants suggested were all delicious. Sailing across the blue sea, swimming in quiet coves, and relaxing on the swaying boat was an amazing way to rest after amazing mountain biking through the islands. I highly recommend the use of E-bikes. We made the mistake of trying to ride it all on our own bikes, but it was a lot of riding in order to see all of the amazing parts. Once we had E-bikes we were much more capable of riding the 20-30 miles each day with long and steep climbs. We were in heaven every moment, and will never forget this trip. I highly recommend this trip to anyone ready for an amazing adventure.

We really had no expectations, but the adventure was far more than we could have envisioned. The Adriatic Sea, the landscape, the explanations of sites and towns, the food and the laughs. We always enjoyed our time on the catamaran, especially the nights anchored in the bays. The guides each knew how to share the best of the Dalmation Coast while biking around the islands.

This trip was exactly as promised. Gorgeous islands with a huge variety of biking terrain. Our group had a wide variety of skill levels, but the guides made it work brilliantly for everyone. The small group size was perfect. We felt extremely lucky as we noticed other tour groups that lacked flexibility, cohesion and personalization. We could choose our routes, where to stop for a swim…. Everything. With the guide’s expertise, we made great choices.

I really enjoyed the catamaran! The scenery was beautiful. When we had meals on the boat they were excellent! As far as the trails go, I felt they were mostly hiking type trails, which were either super steep and technical (which I did enjoy at times) or extremely boring road riding, and not enough intermediate trails.

Čiovo offers relaxed coastal riding and hidden coves perfect for swimming breaks, while Korčula brings forested trails, charming old towns, and vineyard views for a more cultural spin.
  • This tour is beginner-friendly in terms of mountain biking, but at least some experience riding on gravel roads is a must, as well as a decent fitness level. You will need to be able to bike consistently on varied and sometimes steep terrain. Even the beginner tours will take you up to a height of 200 to 500 m (650-1,650 ft) above sea level. Remember, there’s no rush, and in case the trail is too challenging for you, you can always push your bike.

You will need to be able to bike consistently on varied and sometimes steep terrain on gravel roads. This tour will teach you all about Croatian undulation—you’re always either climbing or descending, with little to no flat ground.

First day, your guide will take you on a 10-mile/15-km trial tour to test your skills and fitness levels. The rest of the week, you will ride for 12-30 miles/20-50 km daily. You can also rent an e-bike to make things significantly easier!

There are rides ranging from natural blue to double black diamond trails. With two experienced guides, you can explore different types and levels of biking trails in the area. Split into two groups and mix & match the routes according to your skill and preference!

If you want to take a day or two off, feel free to stay on the catamaran or go on another outdoor adventure like hiking or kayaking (not included in the cost of the trip).

  • Renting a charter boat means you have the freedom to make your own schedule and go wherever the wind and desire take you. Charter offers additional flexibility and custom itinerary adapted to your group, as well as a chance to upgrade to a bigger sailboat. You have a choice between three superb boats: the Saba 50 and Aura 51, accommodating 8 guests throughout 4 double cabins, or Lagoon 46, accommodating 6 guests in 3 double cabins.

Your guides and skipper will help you create an itinerary that suits your travel needs and wishes. They will handle the boat for you and recommend routes and places to visit. They know where you can anchor and get supplies, find privacy or enjoy the Croatian party scene.

Let us know which dates work best for you and we will give you an estimate of the prices and options for that period.

The final price of the tour depends on the chosen dates, possible upgrades and add-ons. Invite your family and friends who also love boating and reduce the cost per person!

  • It is preferable you have some basic mountain biking experience, like riding on gravel roads. However, if you know how to cycle (this is a must) and have an adventurous spirit, your guide will explain the different mountain bike techniques and body positions to get you feeling comfortable on the trail. And as there will be two guides onboard, you can split into two groups according to your skill and preference. Another option is that you simply spend the day on the boat or explore the islands on foot on your own. Also consider renting an e-bike, which will make things a lot easier!

If you’d prefer riding on paved roads, E-Bike and Sail Along the Croatian Coastline might just be what you were looking for. It’s an adventure led by the same guides, where you’ll get to visit the same islands as with this tour.

  • Don’t worry about transporting your bikes to Croatia! You can rent a mountain bike or an e-bike with your guides, but we warmly suggest renting an e-bike—this is your vacation, and you should enjoy it without overdoing it. But your guide will still keep you challenged, no worries about that! You can rent the following bikes at an additional cost:

      • Standard MTB — Trek Fuel EX 5 (S-XL)
      • Premium MTB — Santa Cruz Hightower (S-XL)
      • Standard e-MTB — Focus Sam²  (S-XL)
      • Light e-MTB — Focus Jam² (S-L)
      • Premium e-MTB — Specialized Turbo Levo  (XS-XXL)

Please leave us a note at checkout if interested in renting a bike. Prices start from 350 EUR per person for the entire week.

  • Yes! You can come with your friends and family and enjoy the Dalmatian coast together. Your children or other members of the family that don’t mountain bike can stay on the boat and relax under the Mediterranean sun or explore the shore on foot while you ride. There’s no age minimum if you’re coming on a private tour.

In case your family would rather pedal along paved roads, check out our Cycle and Sail tour in Croatia!

  • Dalmatia’s mild Mediterranean climate boasts perfect weather year-round. Tours are scheduled to fit with the seasons and ideal cycling conditions. When the weather does not cooperate, your guide will know the correct course of action to take. Whether that’s shifting to a more favorable location or postponing until conditions approve, your guide will know just what to do. In the event of predictably bad weather, you will be contacted prior to the trip to discuss suitable alternatives.

  • Here’s what you’ll need:

      • Biking helmet — rental available
      • Comfortable riding or athletic clothing, preferably moisture-wicking or synthetic material, for a week of mountain biking
      • Mountain bike or e-bike — rental available

      • There are both open departures available, as well as the option of chartering the boat for a fully private & customized experience! Let us know if you’re interested in reserving the charter for your group.

  • A single occupancy cabin is available only if you book the whole cabin (as if you were booking for 2 people). Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

If you’re a solo traveler, you’re very welcome to join the tour, but you will have to book the whole cabin and pay the single supplement fee.

  • To get to the start of this tour, most people fly into Split Airport and take a taxi or bus to Trogir about 10-15 minutes away. Other options include Franjo Tudman Airport in Zagreb and Dubrovnik Airport, both about 3.5 hours away from Trogir,.

You will meet your guide and check in at the SCT Marina Trogir at 4pm on Day 1. The sailboat will return to the Trogir harbor at 5pm on the last night. Checkout is at 9am on the last day.

If you choose to arrive in Zagreb, you can spend your first day exploring Medvednica by bike. On your last day, you can go back to Zagreb and visit National park Plitvička jezera along the way or fly back from Dubrovnik.

Sailing and Mountain Biking in Croatia: Q&A With Ivo Jarić
Croatia is a Mediterranean MTB mecca.  Between the fast downhills of Brač, the flowy up-and-downs of Vis, and the epic enduro rides of Omiš, riders of all levels can find a trail to fit their tastes, emboldened by fascinating culture and world-class cuisine.  The Croatian coast is best biked by sailboat. Combining sailing and mountain biking means seamlessly moving from island to island, avoiding the summer crowds, and resting from the rides on the open seas, lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves. However, the logistics behind an island-hopping MTB vacation can be overwhelming. From finding a sailboat and skipper to picking the right trails for your group, you’ll need the help of someone who knows what they’re doing.  This is why we’ve brought in a pro. Ivo Jarić is a local expert and passionate MTB guide who’s tried all the top trails in Croatia. In his free Q&A session, he will share his top tips for mountain biking in his homeland, including the must-try trails, the most scenic routes, and insider tips for making the most of your ride.  By the end, you’ll know why sailing and mountain biking are a match made in heaven, and why this unique trip deserves a spot on your bucket list.

Biking and Sailing in Paradise: The Adriatic Like You’ve Never Seen it Before
In Croatia, every island tells a different story, and some of the best ones unfold right on the MTB trails. On the island of Brac, a speedy singletrack passes an abandoned monastery and opens into a pristine sandy beach, with turquoise waters as far as the eye can see. On the island of Hvar, a switchback trail dating back to ancient Greece is engulfed by the intense aroma of thyme, salt and the soft song of crickets. From leg-burners between post-WWII bunkers to loops around Roman bath houses—riding these trails feels like a journey through time. MTB guide, bike mechanic, and tour logistician Ivo Jaric has guided mountain biking enthusiasts of all skill levels since 2016. Although he was born in the continental city of Zagreb, Ivo shares a special bond with the Adriatic coast. He enjoys sharing his love for these slivers, slips, cliffside monoliths and white-pebble blips with anyone who’s interested. Let’s pump the breaks here. If you wish to learn how a bike ride can tell a thousand years of history, how an abandoned farmer’s walkway can become a world-class trail, and how Croatia blends Mediterranean serenity with an Ibiza-esque party attitude, check out this free webinar!
