  • This luxury trekking adventure in Nepal with helicopter tours involves easy to moderate hikes suitable for most active people with a reasonable level of fitness. You should be comfortable hiking for several hours a day while carrying a backpack. No prior trekking experience is necessary, but being physically prepared will enhance your enjoyment of the trek.

The trek involves several hours of walking each day on varied terrain, including steep uphill and downhill sections. You should be comfortable walking 3-4 hours on hiking days. The maximum altitude on this tour is at Everest Base Camp—5,364 meters (17,598 feet). While most trekkers do not experience severe altitude sickness due to several days of acclimatization beforehand, some may experience mild symptoms. It’s important to ascend gradually and stay hydrated.

Engaging in cardiovascular exercises like running, cycling, or swimming before your trip will help improve your stamina and endurance, making the trek more enjoyable. Incorporating strength training exercises like squats, lunges, and weightlifting will help build muscle strength, which is beneficial for the uphill and downhill sections of the trek. That said, keep in mind that you will always have a guide by your side to set the right pace, make regular breaks, offer encouragement, and make the entire experience enjoyable for everyone.

  • Every 1,000 m/3,200 ft you travel above sea level makes aerobic exercise 10% harder. On this Nepal luxury heli-accessed trekking tour, you will hike at elevations ranging from approximately 1,400 meters (4,593 feet) in Kathmandu to a maximum of 5,364 meters (17,598 feet) at Everest Base Camp.

As you can see, the elevations are quite high, which can cause some altitude sickness. However, before you get to Everest Base Camp, you will first go to Lukla (2,860 meters / 9,383 feet), Monjo (2,835 meters / 9,301 feet), and Namche Bazar (3,440 meters / 11,286 feet), giving you enough time to properly acclimatize. Here are a few tips on do’s and don’ts for adapting to high altitude and avoiding altitude sickness:

Do not eat heavy food the day before traveling to Kathmandu. Make sure you drink between 6-8 glasses of water the days before your trip and during the hiking days, and make sure to avoid drinking alcohol or smoking. Once you arrive at your accommodation, lie down for a few minutes before going out to explore the area. When you are ready to go out and explore, try not to become agitated climbing stairs or walking fast.

You should also try to include cardio and strength training in your schedule. Cardio means getting your heart rate up by doing things like running, cycling, skipping, and burpees. Strength training means using resistance, weights, or your body weight to grow your muscles. The fitter you are, the less oxygen your muscles need to move — something invaluable at higher elevations.

  • Apart from the fact that you’ll have a highly experienced and knowledgeable person by your side—who’ll also make sure you have the best time in the country—trekking in Nepal is no longer allowed without a guide. This decision has been made for the tourists’ benefit, as many tourists have gone missing over the past few years when they went trekking by themselves.

  • Yes, to visit Nepal, you must have a Nepalese visa. For this luxury heli trekking tour in Nepal, you will need a 30-day multiple-entry visa, which is valid for 6 months and costs $50. You can easily obtain it as soon as you arrive in the country, which is usually at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.

If your group has hikers under the age of 18, contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.
