The adventure, day by day

Experience the very best of Zermatt with women who love mountains! On these 8-day hiking holidays, we’ll trek through the Swiss Alps' most stunning terrain: pristine mountain lakes, historic huts, a dramatic gorge, and trails with endless views of the Matterhorn. An experienced woman mountain guide leads the way to both iconic views and hidden gems, while our 4-star hotel in car-free Zermatt provides the perfect retreat. With all logistics sorted, from airport transfers and lift passes to breakfasts and trail lunches, we’re free to focus on what matters: sharing great hikes and good times in one of the Alps' most legendary locations.

Day 1: Arrival in Zermatt
Zermatt traditional houses in summer

From Geneva airport, a private taxi transfer will take us to Täsch. Since Zermatt is a car-free village, a short 12-minute train ride will take us from Täsch to Zermatt, arriving right in the heart of the village. After settling in at our hotel, we’ll meet our guide for dinner.

Meals: Breakfast and dinner
Accommodation: 4-star hotel

Day 2: Zmutt
The hamlet of Zmutt and its wooden houses

We’ll kick off the week with a peaceful hike to Zmutt. A picturesque and serene place, Zmutt is often described as a “preserved village” and offers an authentic and traditional atmosphere in contrast to the vibrant Zermatt. The hamlet of Zmutt and its adjoining wooden houses are situated between lush alpine pastures on a small rise, at 1,936 m / 6,352 ft altitude, and they have been welcoming hikers for more than 500 years!

Meals: Breakfast and lunch
Hiking: 9.5 km / 5.9 miles
Elevation: +360 m / +1,181 ft
Accommodation: 4-star hotel

Day 3: Gornergrat — Sentier du Silence
View of the Matterhorn behind flowers

Today’s adventure starts with a real treat—a ride to the Gornergrat aboard one of Switzerland’s oldest cogwheel trains! Our hike begins at 3,100 m / 10,171 ft altitude with stunning panoramic views of the Matterhorn and surrounding Alpine peaks. We’ll escape the crowds of the Gornergrat and walk along the “Path of Silencel”, passing beautiful mountain lakes. With a bit of luck and a sharp eye, we might catch a glimpse of ibexes and chamois foraging for food in the wild!

Meals: Breakfast and lunch
Hiking: 7.9 km / 4.9 miles
Elevation: -887 m / -2,910 ft
Accommodation: 4-star hotel

Day 4: The Five Lakes Trail
Women hiking and smiling in front of a lake near Zermatt

After breakfast, we’ll head on a hike through one of the most scenic places in Zermatt: the Five Lakes Trail, a scenic path connecting the lakes Stellisee, Grindjisee, Grünsee, Moosjisee, and Leisee. We’ll hike on diverse terrain through a former glacial area, see the reflection of the Matterhorn in some of these lakes, and take in the rich biodiversity of the area.

Meals: Breakfast and lunch
Hiking: 10.5 km / 6.5 miles
Elevation: +283 m / +929 ft
Accommodation:  4-star hotel

Day 5: Matterhorn Glacier Paradise
Panoramic view of Zermatt and the Swiss Alps from Matterhorn Glacier Paradise

Today will be an easier day in terms of hiking, but just as exciting! We’ll explore the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, where we’ll find views of the snow-covered Alps and the iconic Matterhorn. Perched at 3,883 m / 12,740 ft, the platform offers several attractions: the Glacier Palace with its series of ice tunnels and caves, the cozy Cinema Lounge for relaxation, panoramic vistas from the viewing platform, and delicious meals at the highest mountain restaurant in Europe! We’ll be back in Zermatt in the early afternoon and take some time to rest and/or enjoy Zermatt.

Meals: Breakfast
Accommodation: 4-star hotel

Day 6: Hörnli Hut — Matterhorn
The rocky base and lower slopes of the Matterhorn

We’ll start today’s hike at Schwarzsee (2,587 m / 8,488 ft) and follow the historic Hörnli trail that leads to the Hörnli Hut (3,260 m / 10,696 ft). We’ll be walking in the footsteps of the first Matterhorn climbers, who began their historic ascent from this same path on July 14, 1865. As we climb, we’ll be right beneath the Matterhorn, giving us some of the closest views possible of this iconic peak. When we reach Hörnli Hut, we’ll find ourselves in a surreal landscape, surrounded by glaciers and sky-high peaks.

Meals: Breakfast and lunch
Hiking: 4.2 km / 2.6 miles
Elevation: +674 m / +2,211 ft
Accommodation: 4-star hotel

Day 7: Gorner gorge
A waterfall at Gorner Gorge in Zermatt

Our last hike will be a short and refreshing route through Gorner Gorge, where the Gornera river has carved its way through the rocks for millions of years. Our path will take us across galleries and wooden bridges, giving us close views of the waterfalls and rock formations. The rocks and winding greenish paths we’ll see along the way date back nearly 220 million years.

Meals: Breakfast
Hiking: 5.5 km / 3.4 miles
Elevation: +209 m / +686 ft
Accommodation: 4-star hotel

Day 8: Departure from Zermatt
The village of Zermatt with the Matterhorn in the background during twilight

After our final shared breakfast and a week of mountain trails together, we’ll take the train from Zermatt to Täsch, then a private group transfer to Geneva airport.
