Mountains or the sea? On this adventure, you won’t have to decide. Croatia, a small country between the Alps and the Mediterranean, is an underrated and undiscovered gem full of beautiful surprises. We’ll start our trip in the capital city of Zagreb, and then go southward, rafting on rushing rivers, kayaking on emerald waters, and hiking through diverse national and nature parks. We’ll end our 11-day journey in Dubrovnik, the world-famous Pearl of the Adriatic, whose timeless beauty will surely be a cherry on top of this not-to-be-missed trip.

If you’ve been craving a holiday that’s not just your usual getaway, but an unforgettable journey, look no further. This 11-day active tour from Zagreb to Dubrovnik will take us to high peaks, emerald rivers, rushing waterfalls, beautiful cities, and the warm Adriatic Sea. Every day we’ll visit a new location, and rest assured that a knowledgeable guide will take you to Croatia’s most spectacular spots. We’ll explore this wonder of a country by hiking, kayaking, rafting, or even ziplining! Since the guide will take care of the logistics, all that’s left to do is enjoy nature, taste delicious local food, and get to know the Croatian way of life.

  • Arrive in Zagreb, the starting point of your adventure! Upon airport pickup, your guides will extend a warm welcome with a friendly meeting at a local pub. Here you’ll have the opportunity to mingle with fellow travelers and go through a briefing of all thrilling adventures before you!

    Then you’ll go for an orienteering walk, where you’ll have an opportunity to discover the history and vibrant city life and explore cultural landmarks and local hotspots. Following the walk, you’ll hop on a cable car near the city of Zagreb for a scenic ride to Medvednica Nature Park. With its lush forests, hiking trails, and panoramic views, Medvednica provides an escape into the wilderness. A short walk will lead you to your hotel in a quiet location in the woodlands.

  • Kick off the day with an early breakfast before transferring to the Mrežnica River base camp. The kayaking tour will take you through the upper river canyon, combining kayaking, canyoning, and cliff jumping! This is a hidden gem for nature enthusiasts, offering an idyllic setting among emerald-green waters, secluded pools, and stunning waterfalls. Tailored to all skill levels, the kayaking experience is a fun activity for everyone.

    Following a refreshing river experience, head to the charming village of Rastoke nestled amidst creeks and waterfalls along the Slunjčica River. End your day with a night’s stay in the beautiful surroundings of Plitvice Holiday Resort.

  • Today is all about exploring Plitvice Lakes National Park, a mesmerizing natural wonder that leaves everyone breathless with its waterfalls, crystal-clear turquoise lakes, and lush greenery. Exploring the park offers an unforgettable experience where wooden boardwalks lead you through a system of 16 named and several smaller unnamed lakes, cascading one into the next one.

    It’s also a UNESCO World Heritage site and the oldest and largest national park in Croatia. There will be an opportunity to visit Barać Caves, which would be a journey into a world of geological wonders and which would show you the beauty of nature hidden beneath the surface. Once again, spend the night in the beautiful surroundings of Plitvice Holiday Resort.

  • After a hearty breakfast, you’ll get on the Premužić Trail and hike from the hut at Zavižan all the way to Alan mountain hut (15 km / 9.3 miles). This is the perfect way to explore Velebit National Park, as you’ll wind through diverse landscapes, offering an enjoyable trek as well as breathtaking views of the Adriatic Sea.

  • Embark on a day full of diverse wonders of Velebit, where kayaking on Zrmanja and hiking along Krupa will seamlessly blend thrilling water escapades with a picturesque trek. This will be yet another experience of exploring Croatia’s natural riches, and you’ll feel the tranquility in the heart of Velebit.

    Zrmanja Canyon will captivate you with its rugged beauty, mighty walls, and emerald-green waters, while Krupa is known as one of the most charming rivers with a romantic story that adds to the allure of this destination.

  • You’ve got two options today in Paklenica National Park! Either opt for an easy hike from Velika Paklenica to Ramića Dvori Lodge and back, or take on the challenge and hike from Mala Paklenica to Ramića Dvori Lodge and back, passing through Velika Paklenica.

    Velika Paklenica Canyon boasts a fantastic tourist trail suitable for all, offering accessibility and breathtaking natural beauty. On the other hand, Mala Paklenica Canyon is renowned for its wilderness and pristine nature. Regardless of your chosen path, you’ll be treated to stunning views of rocky peaks and the surrounding forests.

  • Today you’ll be exploring the spectacular Krka River National Park, followed by a refreshing swimming experience. Uncover the beauty of Skradinski Buk and Roški slap waterfalls, as well as the enchanting Visovac Island and its monastery. Take your time exploring these highlights, whether by hiking or leisurely boat rides.

    There will be an opportunity to visit the Zipline at Čikola River Canyon which offers stunning views of the captivating landscape with tall cliffs, rugged terrain, and the flowing waters of the Čikola River.

  • Cetina River Canyon is a popular destination for adventure seekers, providing opportunities for rafting, kayaking, canyoning, and zip-lining. You will explore the natural wonders of the Cetina Canyon by paddling your way through beautiful and exciting rapids with plenty of opportunities for swimming and cliff jumping.

    Upon request, you will have the opportunity to combine both rafting and ziplining in the Cetina Canyon, an activity that blends discovering natural wonders from two perspectives.

  • Walk along the Ston City Walls and explore the charming medieval town of Ston nestled on the Pelješac Peninsula. Renowned for its well-preserved city walls, often referred to as the European Wall of China, Ston is equally famous for its centuries-old salt pans and oyster farms.

    In the afternoon, arrive in Dubrovnik, where you’ll have free time to wander through the town’s streets. Known as the Pearl of the Adriatic, Dubrovnik is a Croatian coastal gem and a UNESCO World Heritage site celebrated for its preserved medieval architecture, city walls, and breathtaking views of the Adriatic Sea.

  • You have a full day of exploring the spectacular Dubrovnik town and its surroundings ahead of you! Mount Srđ overlooks the iconic city of Dubrovnik, and hiking up the trail will provide you with a breathtaking panoramic vantage point of the Adriatic coastline and the historic Old Town. Use your time in the evening to take a stroll through this incredible town.

  • The best thing about this Zagreb to Dubrovnik active tour is that it can be adjusted to all skill levels! Your guide can make this tour as easy or as difficult as you’d like it to be. There are options throughout the tour where your guide can tailor the tour to your preferences. You can check day-by-day activities in the itinerary.

  • Here’s a list of the equipment you need to bring:

    Dress comfortably and for the weather in clothes you can move in. We suggest bringing clothing appropriate for the season. Layers are best and don’t wear jeans.

  • Group sizes and pricing

      • For this Zagreb to Dubrovnik guided tour, the usual client-to-guide ratio is 12:1.
      • It takes a minimum of 4 people for this tour to operate, while the maximum group size is set at 12.

    Zagreb to Dubrovnik active tours can be arranged for larger groups. Contact us to make arrangements.

    Min. age requirements

      • If you are older than 18, you’re good to go.
      • Minors younger than 18 may be permitted to join the hike on a case-by-case basis, but must be in the presence of a parent or legal guardian.

    If your group has hikers under the age of 18, contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

  • To get to Zagreb, the capital of Croatia and the starting point of your adventure, most people fly to Franjo Tuđman Airport Zagreb (ZAG). Upon arrival, your guides will pick you up and extend a warm welcome at a local pub.

    You’ll end your tour on the other end of Croatia, in Dubrovnik. On Day 11, your guides will transfer you to Dubrovnik Airport.

  • We highly recommend that you cover all your bases with both emergency medical and travel insurance.

    With medical insurance, if you have an accident or medical emergency on or off the mountain, you’ll avoid paying out of pocket for costly expenses. This covers everything from hospital treatments to emergency air transportation and more. Travel insurance covers canceled flights, natural disasters and other scenarios that may interrupt your travel plans.

    We also expect you to respect local regulations and take measures to protect yourselves, your guides, and the communities you’re traveling to.

  • A 30% deposit to secure your place is due upon booking. The remaining amount is paid 3 months (90 days) prior to departure. Once the trip is confirmed by the guide, the cancellation policy stated below applies.

      • If Client cancels the Booking anytime prior to one hundred twenty (120) calendar days in advance of the trip contemplated by the booking, Client is entitled to a full refund.
      • For cancellations ninety (90) to one hundred nineteen (119) calendar days in advance, Client is entitled to a refund in the amount of fifty percent (50%) of the total amount paid when Booking.
      • For cancellations seventy-five (75) to eighty nine (89) calendar days in advance, Client is entitled to a refund in the amount of twenty-five percent (25%) of the total amount paid when Booking.
      • After that deadline, Client is not entitled to any refund. Any reimbursable expenses arising out of the Booking incurred by Guide prior to the date of cancellation (including but not limited to plane tickets, car rental payments, and lodging or transportation fees) are non-refundable as soon as they are incurred by the Guide.
