Dolomites Biking Tours

Hairpin after hairpin, valley after valley, with Italian pastries & espressos waiting at the bottom of every descent. Welcome to the Dolomites.

A mountain range like no other

Cycling’s most dramatic backdrop

Few mountain ranges reward a bike ride quite like the Dolomites. Jagged limestone spires, hairpin climbs that stack switchback after switchback, and valleys that open up into some of the most photographed landscapes in the Alps. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site for a reason, and cycling through it puts you closer to that scenery than any car window ever could.

A few things that make this range stand out:

    • Legendary passes, the kind that show up in Giro d’Italia stages and cyclist bucket lists alike
    • A road network for every kind of rider, from gentle valley routes to gradients that separate the fit from the very fit
    • Alpine villages and rifugios, perfectly placed for a coffee stop or a plate of speck and cheese

Guided or self-guided, your choice

Guided trips take the thinking out of it. Routes are planned, accommodation is booked, and someone who knows these roads well is riding alongside you, or waiting at the next stop with a van if your legs give out first. Good for first-timers, groups, or anyone who’d rather focus on the scenery than the navigation.

Self-guided trips hand you the map and the freedom. You still get planned routes, pre-booked hotels, and luggage transfers between stops, but the pace and the stops along the way are entirely yours to decide. Good for independent riders who know their own limits.

Both options exist here. Neither is the “easy way out.”

E-bike or road bike?

Not every climb in the Dolomites needs to be earned the hard way. E-bike tours open up the same iconic terrain to riders who want the views and the descents without quite so much suffering on the way up. Traditional road cycling tours, on the other hand, are built for those chasing the full challenge: the kind of climbs that separate a good legs day from a bad one.

Either way, you’re riding surreal passes. Just picking how much of the work you’d like to outsource to a battery.

What a day on the bike actually looks like

Mornings usually start with a climb, because that’s just how Alpine cycling works. Some routes keep the gradients gentle and the days short; others stack multiple passes and reward a stronger set of legs. Between climbs, routes wind through valley towns, past dairy farms, and alongside rivers running straight off the glaciers above.

Accommodation ranges from comfortable mountain hotels to boutique stays, always with the kind of dinner that makes the day’s ride worth it, whatever pace you rode it at.

Luca was so helpful from the moment we booked, answering all our questions and helping us plan our trip. Our guide, Richi, and driver, Lorenzo, were fantastic. They took such good care of us and were always focused on the safety and comfort of the rider. We appreciated the small group size. The bikes (both regular and e-bikes) were top-notch. The scenery was, of course, spectacular. We enjoyed every day, our meals, and the accommodation immensely.

We were tourists from out of town, and the staff here were incredibly kind and helpful. They went above and beyond to assist us in every possible way. If I could, I would give them 10 stars! Truly grateful for their warm hospitality.

This company was exactly what we needed for our cycling trip. They were very quick with correspondence and the information they gave us was thorough and clear. We didn’t have a lot of pre-trip questions but I got the sense that if we did, they would answer them happily and promptly. We had a little mixup with gear but they had a shop that was a 3-minute walk from our hotel and they took care of it. Highly recommend!

Raised on the southern shores of Lake Como, Chiara’s childhood revolved around water, wind, and mountains. Rowing, sailing, skiing, and climbing shaped her love for the outdoors early on. Riccardo
Riccardo has been riding since he was young, the kind of cyclist who packed a tent and sleeping bag and set off to explore Corsica, Croatia, Sardinia, and the Dolomites before cycling tourism was even a thing. A veteran of two Paris-Brest-Paris editions and countless brevets up to 600 km, he knows what it means to spend serious time in the saddle. His philosophy is simple: nothing in daily life is so bad that a good ride can't fix it.

Paolo
Paolo grew up in Lecce, studied art history, and has been racing bikes ever since, which makes him exactly the kind of guide you want leading you through southern Italy. When he's not on the bike, he's finding the best road, the best local wine, and the best reason to stop for lunch.

Luca
Luca grew up in the Alps, surrounded by the Mortirolo, Gavia, and Stelvio passes, so cycling these roads isn't just his job, it's where he comes from. A qualified mountain bike guide and experienced tour manager, he has led cyclists across Europe, Canada, and North Africa, though it's the backroads of Italy that he knows best. On the bike, he handles route planning and all technical support, with one goal: making sure every rider finishes the day confident, comfortable, and already looking forward to the next one.

Nicola
Nicola grew up on the shores of Lake Garda and spent six years as a professional cyclist before trading race numbers for something better: sharing the roads he loves with people who love them too. He still rides constantly, tackling long routes and Gran Fondos across Italy with his girlfriend, and brings that same energy to every tour. For Nicola, every rider who joins becomes a friend by the end of the day, which is exactly how he thinks cycling should work.

Frequently Asked Questions About Biking in the Dolomites

  • We have a selection of adventures here for practically every type of rider.

For guided trips, yes: an experienced guide well-versed in the region’s roads, terrain, and climbs rides with the group or supports from a vehicle.

Self-guided trips work differently. You’ll get a detailed route, maps, and full support from the local team if anything comes up, but you’re riding on your own schedule.

  • This really depends on the trip, and the good news is there’s a wide range to choose from. Some routes are built for active people with a decent baseline of fitness, especially on e-bikes, where the motor takes the edge off the steeper gradients. Others are genuinely demanding: multiple mountain passes in a day, real elevation gain, long hours in the saddle. You don’t need to be a pro for any of these trips, but it’s worth being honest with yourself about your fitness level before picking one. Check the difficulty rating on each trip page to find your fit.

  • Late spring through early autumn, roughly June to September, is when most of these routes are rideable and the high passes are clear of snow. July and August bring the warmest weather and the biggest crowds on the more famous climbs; late spring and early autumn tend to be quieter with still-solid conditions.

  • No, bike rental (including e-bikes) is typically available and can usually be arranged as part of your booking. If you’d rather bring your own, that’s generally an option too, just confirm the details with your trip provider beforehand.
