Chamonix & Mont Blanc: A Luxury Hiking Adventure

The Alps are significantly better when you aren’t carrying a 30-pound pack or sleeping on a thin hut mattress. On this 8-day Mont Blanc adventure, we’re hitting the high-altitude highlights of France, Italy, and Switzerland, but we’re doing it from an upscale base in Chamonix. We’ve scouted these mountains for years to find the sweet spot: rugged, high-alpine miles by day and luxury hotel comfort with a proper drink in hand by evening. It’s all the iconic Mont Blanc views and local culture you’re after, with none of the ‘roughing it’ baggage.

Based out of a four-star hotel, we’ll go out exploring everyday to discover Mont Blanc’s highlights throughout three countries! We’ll sort all the logistical stuff, all you’ve got to do is reach Geneva Airport—and leave the rest to us, expert local guides with tons of Alpine hiking experience under our belt.

Once we reach the top, we’ll be rewarded with breathtaking 360-degree views of the Aiguilles Rouges, Mont Blanc massif, and even Switzerland! The descent allows hikers to appreciate the scenery from a different perspective—take your time and enjoy the views. There are 2 ways to hike up the Aiguillettes, you can find them below.

Start hiking through Val Ferret and take in stunning views of Mont Blanc’s south face. After several hours of hiking, we’ll reach the famous Rifugio Bonatti, a hut named after the legendary mountaineer Walter Bonatti. Rarely have I met a guide as passionate and knowledgeable as François. We visited Mer de Glace. Our guide was very educational by going back 25 centuries ago and taking us through history as if we were there.Thank you so much !

Hi Camille, I meant to send this sooner but time slipped away from me. I just wanted you to know that our guide Violette, was absolutely wonderful. She was incredibly knowledgeable, always patient, and went out of her way to be helpful. On top of that , she was such fun to be around, which made every day of our trip even more enjoyable. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide!

The Lake Blanc is breathtaking in person, seeing the mont blanc summit reflected in that water is something I’ll never forget… Once again, thank you so much Marta for an experience we’ll never forget!! 🙂

i am literally obsessed with the food in the alps. started with flaky croissants in france, then had the best swiss rosti on day 6 after hiking a good hike … it’s a “cultural tasting menu” for real. so glad i didn’t have to eat dehydrated camp food!!

Breathtaking 360-degree views. Every turn reveals a new perspective.

The logistics were seamless. Being picked up at Geneva Airport and whisked away to a beautiful hotel in Chamonix was the perfect start. No luggage to lug around between villages, just wonderful day hikes with a light pack…

Yann is a great guide and just a genuinely nice guy. He has decades of experience , but he’s very casual and makes the whole group feel at ease, even during the more challenging days. It was a pleasure to hear his local stories about growing up and living in these mountains. Thank you so much Yann!!

that lac blanc hike lives up to the hype!! bit of a grind getting up there but the reflection of the peaks in the water is something else. our guide marta was wonderful, especially with our group on that first night dinner. very classy experience all around.

I was a little worried about the “Moderate” rating as someone in their mid-60s, but the pacing was perfect. You definitely need your fitness, but not carrying 30 pounds on your back makes a massive difference. The Hotel Heliopic was lovely and right next to the cable car. Very convenient.

Linda G.

I loved that the local guides handled all the transfers and food and everything between France, Italy, and Switzerland so I could just hike.

yann is the man. super nice, very grounded, and knows every peak by name. he made the whole trip and the Alps’ history actually interesting instead of just giving a bunch of dates. we also did the “step into the void” room, it is a heart-stopper but you gotta do it. top notch trip.

I’m 62 and still love to hike, but I’m done with the heavy backpacking. This trip was perfect because I only had to carry a small daypack with my water and a jacket. The food was a highlight for me; we had these amazing croissants in the morning and then a proper Italian lunch in Courmayeur after crossing over for the day. It felt like a real vacation!!

If you appreciate good engineering, the Emosson Dam day in Switzerland is fascinating. The hiking is varied and the turquoise water is stunning. It’s a very classy way to see three countries in a week. Our guide was a total pro, just very casual and easygoing, but you can tell they have decades of experience under their belts. It’s a “best of” itinerary that actually delivers.

On this trip, you get the high-alpine miles and the three-country drama—France, Italy, and Switzerland—without ever having to “rough it.”

We’ve curated a route that skips the filler days and focuses entirely on the icons. Instead of dusty hut floors, you’re retreating to an upscale hotel in Chamonix every single night. It’s a “best of” itinerary designed for travelers who want the grit of the mountains by day, but refuse to compromise on a private spa, a world-class meal, and a premium mattress by evening. Basically, it’s all of the adventure with none of the sacrifice.

  • While this Chamonix day hikes tour doesn’t require any special skills, great fitness is required for 6 consecutive days of hiking several hours per day. You’ll only be carrying a daypack filled with things you might need throughout the day—the rest of your luggage stays at the hotel.

The most you’ll hike within a day is up to 12 km (7.5 mi), but elevation changes are what makes this trip challenging—the most you’ll gain is 1,070 m (3,511) ft in a day.

Depending on the group, your guide can always make the day hikes a bit easier or harder.

Discover other hiking options in the Mont Blanc area. You’re bound to find your dream tour.
