This Samara surf camp allows surfers at all stages to be matched with appropriate waves for your surf level. Just keep in mind that surfing is an action sport, so a basic level of fitness is a must—but classes are built for beginners and above!

Here’s a list of the equipment you need to bring: Beach attire Water bottle or hydration bladder (2L capacity) Comfortable clothes Sunhat Reef-safe sunscreen Toiletries (hand sanitizer, bug spray, etc.) Sunglasses Camera — optional (but recommended) Surfing equipment is provided by your instructors.

The price of the trip is per person, based on double occupancy, but you can also choose a triple, quadruple, or quint room room (in that case, there’s a discounted rate). For guaranteed lodgings, clients need to book the trip 60 days in advance at the latest. Samara surf camps can be arranged for larger groups. Contact us to make arrangements. Getting there and meeting location

To get to your Samara surf camp, it’s best to fly into Liberia International Airport (LIR) . If you fly into that airport, transfers to and from your accommodation are included. The transfer may be shared and it will be organized at a set time.

By the end of this Samara surf camp, you’ll be checking out real estate in Costa Rica! Trust me, escaping to the warm and sunny Costa Rica will feel like a week in heaven. This is a 7-day surf camp, but you can expect much more than just surf lessons—we’ll try to fully immerse you in the Costa Rican way of life, we’ll taste local dishes, chill on the beach, and go on as many cool activities as your heart desires. Swap chilly days back home with Costa Rica’s warm climate! Come to Samara for a surf camp and spend a week in tropical paradise. Whether you’re a complete novice or you’ve already got some surfing experience under your belt, this surf camp is accommodating to all. You’ll stay at a lovely hotel, and every day have a mix of surf lessons, swimming, lounging on the beach, and optional activities. Samara is a small town that still has its traditional Costa Rican flare, and it’s the ideal base for a surf week!

Today is all about arriving in Costa Rica—once you land in the tropics, take off all those layers of winter clothes and get ready for a vacation in heaven! Pass immigration and get your passport stamp from Costa Rican authorities. There will be a shared shuttle from Liberia Airport at 3pm (included in the price). We’ll have a welcome meeting and talk about the days ahead! You’re welcome to join us for dinner every night—we’ll choose a different place each evening—or feel free to branch off on your own!

Accommodation: Hotel Samara Beach
We’ll have a similar schedule every day—we’ll get on with our surf lessons between 6 and 7 am, have breakfast, chill on the beach, and again have surf lessons during the day. These lessons are tailored specifically to you, so rest assured, we cater to surfers of all skill levels! Lunches and dinners are not included in this surf week, but there’s plenty of options and we’re happy to give you recommendations.

Also, we’ll do one activity of your choice, most likely on Day 4—though the itinerary is subject to change depending on tides and swells. Horseback riding, kayak & snorkel, waterfall nature walk, zipline tour, you can choose one of these activities upon checkout. Another great thing is that we can organize some other optional activities for you! Private yoga class, traditional massage, deep healing energy massage, sound healing, ATVs, cooking class, turtle nesting/release tour—it’s all possible, let us know upon booking if you’d like to do any of that!

Jairo is a native Costa Rican and a self-taught surfer who learned to surf at the age of 6. He’s been competing since he was 15, both in Costa Rica and internationally. Jairo is an international surf coach and certified surf instructor (ISA), and he’s fluent in both Spanish and English, happy to coach in either of the languages! He is the current director of adult summer surf camps and he also instructs disabled and disadvantaged students through a non-profit. Jairo makes sure to provide tailored coaching, whether you’re a total beginner or you’ve been surfing your whole life!

Though a native New Yorker, Meg has lived in Costa Rica nearly half her life and is a dual US/Costa Rican citizen. She is known for her love of travel and on-the-go lifestyle, and she’s also an award-winning travel video editor and a surf photographer! Deposits

You can secure one of the set dates with a 30% deposit upon booking. The remaining 70% of the trip price is to be paid 90 days prior to departure, at the latest.

Cancellations

Booking fees are non-refundable in all cases. During checkout, however, you can choose one of 57hours’ flexibility options:

- - In case of cancellation within 48 hours after booking, the amount paid is fully refundable.
  - For cancellations 60 or more days before the trip, you are eligible for a 70% refund of the trip price.
  - For cancellations 0-59 days before the trip, there is no refund.
Flexible
- - In case of cancellation within 48 hours after booking, the amount paid is fully refundable.
  - For cancellations 60 or more days before the trip, you are eligible for a full refund of the trip price.
  - For cancellations 30-59 days before the trip, you are eligible for a 50% refund of the trip price.
