Munich and Prague have a lot in common: great beer, great history, and too many good reasons to visit just one. So we created this 8-day e-bike tour, connecting them through the heart of Europe: 303 km (188 mi) of river valleys, Bavarian forest tracks, and quiet Bohemian back roads, with four rivers to follow and one border to cross. The landscape shifts somewhere along the way—same Central European roots, completely different world. Weltenburg Abbey, medieval Regensburg, Karlštejn Castle, and the Pilsner Urquell brewery mark the way, and a charming hotel with character is waiting at the end of every day.

Adventure Highlights

  • Castles, abbeys, and cold beer: Weltenburg Abbey hidden in its Danube gorge, Gothic Karlštejn towering above the Berounka, and a well-earned Pilsner at the brewery that invented it—the cultural highlights are hard to beat
  • Bavaria to Bohemia: We cross from Germany into the Czech Republic through quiet forest paths, with the shift in landscape, architecture, and atmosphere being incredibly rewarding
  • Stunning hotels every night: Handpicked properties with genuine character throughout—from a classic Bavarian inn at Marienplatz to a historic hotel with views over Prague

The adventure, day by day

The Munich to Prague bike tour is an 8-day guided e-bike journey that traces four river valleys across two countries, connecting the Bavarian capital to the Golden City of Prague through medieval towns, forested paths, and quietly spectacular Czech countryside. Expert guides lead every stage on low-traffic roads and dedicated cycling paths, with a support vehicle always nearby. Evenings are spent in handpicked 4-star hotels along the route—each chosen for location and character. With most meals included and all logistics handled, there's nothing to organize and nowhere to rush.

Day 1: Arrival in Munich

We arrive in Munich and settle into our hotel steps from Marienplatz—the Platzl Hotel, a 4-star property with a 16th-century restaurant and an authentic Bavarian atmosphere. After checking in, we set off on a guided tour of the city before gathering for a welcome dinner together. Munich is a city that rewards a slow walk: the Marienplatz, the Hofbräuhaus, the English Garden—there’s plenty to explore before the riding begins tomorrow.

Meals: Dinner
Accommodation: Hotel Platzl****, Munich

Day 2: Munich via Weltenburg Abbey to Regensburg
regensburg old town

A morning transfer takes us to the edge of Lower Bavaria, where the Danube cuts dramatically through limestone cliffs at the Weltenburg Gorge. We visit Weltenburg Abbey—a Benedictine monastery with over 1,000 years of history, tucked into one of Germany’s most beautiful river landscapes—then board a boat through the gorge to Kehlheim, where our e-bikes are waiting. We cycle along the Danube to Regensburg, crossing the famous Stone Bridge onto the Danube island for the night.

Meals: Breakfast, dinner
Cycling: 38 km (23 mi)
Accommodation: Hotel Bischofshof am Dom****, Regensburg

Day 3: Regensburg to Bavarian Forest/Cham

We follow the Regen river out of Regensburg, winding through magnificent deciduous forests, river meadows, and natural landscapes that feel far removed from any tourist trail. A lunch stop in Roding—the gateway to the Bavarian Forest—breaks up a long but beautiful day before we continue along the many meanders of the Regen to reach Cham.

Meals: Breakfast, dinner
Cycling: 70 km (43 mi)
Accommodation: Wellness Hotel Randsberger Hof****, Cham

Day 4: Cham via Furth im Wald to Domažlice
domazlice czech

We stroll through Cham’s 1,000-year-old town center before heading out along the Cham river toward Furth im Wald—the “City of the Dragon’s Sting,” home to Germany’s oldest folk play and the world’s largest four-legged walking robot. A few kilometers further, we cross into Bohemia, where the route continues on quiet roads to Domažlice, a charming town of colorful Renaissance arcades and a beautifully preserved medieval market square.

Meals: Breakfast, dinner
Cycling: 46 km (28 mi)
Accommodation: Hotel Zlatá Včela***, Domažlice

Day 5: Domažlice to Pilsen

We leave Domažlice by regional train to Holýšov, then follow the gently meandering Radbuza river by e-bike through small villages and open countryside to the Chotěšov Monastery—an important convent dating to the early 13th century. The day ends in Pilsen, the world capital of beer, where a well-earned Pilsner at the original Pilsner Urquell brewery is basically mandatory.

Meals: Breakfast, dinner
Cycling: 45 km (28 mi)
Accommodation: Hotel Riverside****, Pilsen

Day 6: Pilsen–Beroun

We begin with a guided tour of Pilsen’s city center—home to the third-largest synagogue in the world and the tallest church tower in the Czech Republic. Then we follow the Klabava river by e-bike through idyllic villages, the rolling hills of the Brdy Nature Reserve, and the town of Dobřív, where a 14th-century stone bridge and a perfectly preserved 17th-century water mill—the largest of its kind in the country—make for an unexpected highlight. We finish in Beroun, exploring its medieval old town on foot before dinner.

Meals: Breakfast, dinner
Cycling: 54 km (33 mi)
Accommodation: Boutique Hotel Anna***, Beroun

Day 7: Beroun–Karlštejn Castle–Prague
karlstejn castle

Our final cycling stage follows the spectacular Berounka river valley before reaching Karlštejn—a high-Gothic castle built in 1348 and one of the Czech Republic’s most iconic landmarks. Just before Prague, the Berounka flows into the Vltava, which carries us straight into the heart of the city. We end the ride with an evening stroll through Prague’s old town and a celebratory dinner to close out the week.

Meals: Breakfast, dinner
Cycling: 50 km (31 mi)
Accommodation: Hotel Questenberg****, Prague

Day 8: Departure from Prague

After breakfast, we say goodbye to Prague. Continue your journey onward or extend your stay in one of Europe’s most beautiful cities—there’s always more to explore on both banks of the Vltava.
