Cancellation policy

The percentages in the table above are of the full trip price, not of what you’ve paid at the time of booking.

Cancellations made within 48 hours of booking receive a full refund on all plans, including booking fees and insurance. After the 48-hour window, your refund depends on your selected protection plan and when you cancel. Core and Premium plans extend your cancellation rights beyond the Standard policy:

  • With Core, a covered reason gets you 75% of your trip cost back — even the day before you go.
  • With Premium, a covered reason gets you 100% of your trip cost back — and any other reason gets you 75%, right up to the day you leave.
What counts as a covered reason
  • Sudden illness or injury — yours, a travel companion’s, or an immediate family member’s, confirmed by a doctor
  • Death of a traveler or an immediate family member
  • A natural disaster affecting your destination or your departure point
  • A government travel advisory against travel to your destination

Changing your mind isn’t a covered reason. Premium is the only plan that covers that. Documentation is required for all insurance claims.

Everything the travel insurance covers

Both plans include travel insurance through Redpoint Travel Protection. Core insures 75% of your trip cost; Premium insures 100%.

Maximum per person:

  • Trip cancellation — up to 100% of your trip cost
  • Cancel for any reason — up to 75% of your trip cost (Premium only)
  • Trip interruption — 150% of the trip cost limit
  • Trip delay — $200 a day, $1,000 max
  • Itinerary change — $250
  • Single occupancy supplement — up to 100% of trip cost
  • Missed connection — $1,000
  • Travel inconvenience — $250 each, $750 max
  • Pet return — $1,000 per pet
  • Baggage and personal effects — $2,500, max $300 an item
  • Baggage delay — $600, after 12 hours
  • Baggage delivery — $100 per trip
  • Emergency medical expenses — $100,000
  • Medical evacuation and repatriation — up to $1,000,000

These are maximums. What a claim actually pays depends on what you can document and on the policy’s exclusions — pre-existing conditions and undeclared activities among them. We’ll send the full policy wording with your confirmation.

    • We begin our Alpine journey in the historic, perched village of Vercorin, the perfect starting point for an e-bike adventure. Our first major objective is the stunning turquoise waters of Lake Moiry, where we will stop for a picnic at the foot of the massive Moiry Glacier. • After a short morning shuttle, we hop back on our e-bikes and set off toward a spectacular Tibetan bridge suspended high above the valley. For the brave ones, the challenge is on: who will dare to ride across? From there, the route climbs gently into the lush green pastures of German-speaking Switzerland, where time seems to slow down. Surrounded by authentic alpine landscapes and a deep sense of calm, the day ends in a traditional Swiss village.

      Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
      Cycling: 47 km (29 mi)

    • The day starts with a ride through a beautiful forest before opening up to a breathtaking panoramic view over the valley. A long and scenic descent follows, filling our eyes with ever-changing alpine landscapes. At the valley floor, the adventure continues as we ride deeper into the valley toward our goal. One last climb, one final bend, and suddenly the iconic Matterhorn appears in all its glory—we have finally made it.

      Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
      Cycling: 45 km (28 mi)
      Elevation: +1,350 m (+4,429 ft) / -1,250 m (-4,101 ft)

    • On this final day, the choice is yours: take one last ride through charming mountain hamlets, climbing all the way to the very foot of the Matterhorn, or stay at the hotel and soak in the beauty of the village. The trails and scenery here are simply too good to miss! If you decide to ride in the morning, we will likely finish the journey at mid-day before it is time to head home with memories of an incredible adventure.

    • For this guided Haute Route e-MTB tour, you need to be in good physical shape. You will need to be able to bike between four and six hours for 4 consecutive days, crossing around 30 miles (50 km) each day.

You should be an active person and exercise three days a week for at least 30 minutes, and you feel good after a demanding workout with some high-intensity intervals.

What is also necessary for this trip is that you have some limited MTB or off-the-paved-road cycling experience and have mastered some basic technical skills.

That said, keep in mind that this tour is designed keeping in mind the philosophy that adventures are for everybody! If desired, some sections can be walked and some distances cut. Additionally, you will always be able to ride at your own pace—it’s not a competition. Furthermore, the terrain chosen for this tour is not rugged and highly technical—you’ll mostly ride on scenic paths and roads. If you feel unwell at any point during the day or no longer wish to ride, your guides will try to motivate you, but if that fails to, the follow-up vehicle will happily take you to the evening’s accommodation to rest and recover.

    • For this Haute Route e-mountain bike guided adventure, it is recommended that you have at least a year of mountain biking experience. You should be able to control your speed and trajectory on forest trails and flowing singletrack trails.

If you have solid cycling experience, but haven’t tried mountain biking, it may be enough going off the paved road to prepare for this tour. Keep in mind that you will always have a guide by your side who will observe your technique, motivate you, and make the riding less strenuous if it gets too difficult for you. Another major thing to consider is that you’ll be aided by your e-bike, which makes riding considerably easier. Additionally, you will be able to opt for walking instead of riding some sections. If at some point you won’t be able to finish a section for that day, there will also be an option to get transferred to your accommodation.

    • Yes! To make your Haute Route e-MTB adventure as hassle free as possible, your guides offer e-MTB rental.

The model offered is FLYER Uproc EVO:X 8.7, a premium Swiss-designed e-enduro bike built for powerful climbs and confident handling on technical descents. When renting a bike with your guide, two 750W batteries per day are also included.

        • Frame & Geometry — Lightweight carbon frame with a flip-chip system and a 64° head angle for precise downhill control.
        • Motor & Battery — Bosch Performance Line CX motor (85 Nm) and a 750 Wh integrated battery for long-range rides.
        • Suspension & Wheels — FOX 38 Float Performance fork and FOX Float X2 rear shock with 170 mm travel. Mullet setup: 29″ front for stability, 27.5″ rear for agility.
        • Riding Character — A well-balanced e-enduro bike offering efficient climbing and stable descending.
        • Approx. weight: 26 kg, depending on size and setup.

Protective gear is essential for this trip. You may fall at least once, and even a single fall can lead to injury. Elbow and knee pads are strongly recommended to help prevent potential harm!

If renting a bike with us, bike insurance is already included in the price as any damages beyond normal wear and tear are at the participant’s charge.

If you’re bringing your own bike, make sure it is full suspension and serviced for maximum enjoyment during the adventure. A second battery is also necessary as the trip stages are long and the Alps are steep!

    • Your guides don’t recommend it. Completing this route in 4 days—45–60 km (25-37 mi) and 2,460 m (8,071 ft) of climbing per day—is nearly impossible unless you’re an elite athlete. But that’s not the goal.

After testing both regular and e-bikes, your guides found e-bikes are the best way to experience the Haute Route: climbs become fun, descents still rewarding, and there’s more time to enjoy the Alps and connect with the group.

With adjustable modes, e-bikes keep everyone together and let you choose between challenge and support—making the journey both epic and enjoyable!

    • To get to Vercorin, the starting point of the adventure, most people fly into Geneva International Airport (GVA), one hour away. Once you arrive, there are several ways to reach your destination. We recommend taking a train ride to the town of Sierre (2 hours). Sierre is located just 5 miles from Vercorin and they are connected by bus.

You will meet your guide and your team in the center of Vercorin in the morning of Day 1. As riding begins right away, we suggest you arrive one day before the start of the Haute Route e-MTB Tour for Friends & Family—especially if flying from far away.

    • We highly recommend that you cover all your bases with insurance. To make your booking and traveling experience as carefree as possible, you’ll be offered to simply insure your trip with Redpoint at checkout.

Redpoint—the official 57hours insurance partner—tailors protection packages for adventure travel, offering a comprehensive travel program, even in remote locations! Trip cancellation, natural disasters, pandemic coverage, medical evacuation, primary medical expenses—regardless of the travel interruption that may happen, Redpoint will have you covered.
