Itinerary

This Cortina d’Ampezzo hiking tour for women combines jaw-dropping views with cozy comfort. Spend six nights in a charming hotel in the heart of the Dolomites, surrounded by the legendary peaks of Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Cinque Torri, Tofane, and the Fanes park. Designed for moderate hikers, this all-women adventure includes daily guided hikes, all breakfasts and dinners, private transfers, and plenty of laughter along the trail. It’s mountain magic, without roughing it.

  • We’ll pick you up at Venice Airport at 3pm for a private transfer to Cortina (2–2.5 hours, included). If you’re arriving in the area earlier, you’re welcome to meet us directly at the hotel in Cortina. We’ll have a trip orientation before dinner.

  • Private transfer (25 min, included) to the Falzarego Pass (2,105 m / 6,906 ft). We walk up to the Forcella Averau pass (2,435 m / 7,989 ft), with a beautiful passage under the cliffs of Averau, and then continue up to the Forcella Nuvolau and the Averau refuge.

    Afterwards, we descend to the Scoiattoli refuge, set on a scenic balcony opposite the Tofane and the Cinque Torri—amazing stone towers and a paradise for rock climbers. The easy descent to Cian Zopé (1,732 m / 5,682 ft) follows. We return to Cortina by private transfer (15 min, included). There’s an optional extension available, a hike up to the Nuvolau summit.

  • After breakfast, we reach the starting point at the Giau Pass (2,236 m / 7,336 ft) by private transfer (25 min, included). The path leads us over several small passes, eventually reaching the Forcella Giau (2,360 m / 7,743 ft), which offers stunning views of the mountains to the north and south.

    We continue through alpine pastures to the Ambrizzola pass (2,277 m / 7,470 ft), then descend to the lake of the Croda da Lago and its refuge (2,055 m / 6,742 ft). From there, we follow the Alta Via number 1 down to Ponte de Ru Curto (1,710 m / 5,610 ft), where a private transfer (15 min, included) takes us back to Cortina.

  • Today’s hike starts at an altitude of 1,985 m (6,512 ft), which we reach via private transfer (25 min, included). From there, we follow a trail beneath the Pass de Bois and along the southern face of the Tofana di Rozes, following the Alta Via number 1. The path eventually leads to Rifugio Dibona (2,045 m / 6,709 ft), with its panoramic terrace facing the Cinque Torri.

    We then descend through a beautiful forested path to Pocol, where a private transfer (10 min, included) returns us to Cortina. There are several options for extending the hike, depending on group ability, guide choice, and weather.

  • Today is dedicated to discovering the world-famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo. After a private morning transfer (45 min, included) to Rifugio Auronzo (2,320 m / 7,611 ft), passing by Lake Misurina, the views are already breathtaking at the trailhead. From the refuge, we hike over the scenic Forcella di Mezzo (2,315 m / 7,595 ft), then descend toward the north face of Tre Cime through the Forcellina pass and its nearby lakes (2,245 m / 7,365 ft).

    Our guides know this area well and will help avoid the busiest sections as much as possible. There are many optional side trails for the second half of the hike. We’ll return to Rifugio Auronzo via Rifugio Locatelli and Forcella Lavaredo, completing a full circuit around the iconic peaks. A private transfer (45 min, included) takes us back to Cortina.

  • After a private transfer (20 min, included) to Passo Tre Croci, we begin the classic Cortina hike to the stunning Sorapis Lake. The trail starts with a wide path through the forest before climbing to open views of the surrounding mountains. The route includes some rockier sections equipped with cables, rails, and stairs. We pass Refugio Vandelli shortly before reaching the picturesque lake, nestled in a cirque beneath the summit of Sorapis Mountain (3,205 m / 10,515 ft).

    After lunch and exploring the pristine lake, we return along the same path to our private transfer back to Cortina (20 min, included). This evening, we’ll celebrate our trip with a final dinner out in town.

  • After our final breakfast together, we’ll check out and take our group private transfer (2–2.5 hours, included) to Venice Airport. Alternatively, you can choose to be dropped off at the Cortina bus station or Venice train station. Arrival at Venice Airport is expected around 12–1 pm.

    Over 5 days, expect to cover up to 11.7 km (7.3 mi) per day, with between 350 m (1,148 ft) and 558 m (1,830 ft) of elevation gain. You’ll be walking 4-6 hours every day. Check out day-by-day distances and elevation changes in the itinerary.

    Keep in mind that you’ll sometimes have an option to make your hike longer if desired, depending on weather conditions and desires of the group. You will always have a guide by your side to encourage you, set the appropriate pace, organize breaks, and keep the entire experience safe and enjoyable.

  • The following items are required for this Cortina d’Ampezzo hiking tour for women only unless otherwise noted. When packing, think layered clothing systems that work together and can be easily added or removed. Your main luggage will stay at the hotel—all you’ll have to carry on hikes is a daypack containing anything you might need throughout the day.

    Avoid cotton or cycling-specific clothing. Synthetic fabrics dry quickly and perform well in active conditions. Merino wool is also an excellent option — it dries fast, is comfortable to wear, and naturally resists odors even after extended use.

    Clothing:

      • Hiking boots/shoes — waterproof, sturdy molded sole, deep tread and ideally well broken in
      • Hiking socks — one pair for every day or two days of the trip (hiking/sport specific padded socks, no cotton please)
      • Sun hat — wide brimmed hat or baseball cap/bandana combo
      • Warm hat & gloves — lightweight beanie and light-to-mid weight fleece or wool gloves
      • Hiking shirts — non-cotton, breathable short sleeve and/or long sleeve shirts
      • Warm top — mid-weight sweater or pullover of wicking material such as merino wool, fleece or polypropylene
      • Insulating jacket — down-fill or synthetic-fill insulated “puffy” jacket or warm, heavy weight fleece jacket
      • Hiking pants & shorts — nylon pants and shorts, zip-offs or leggings
      • Base layer/long underwear — 1 pair of wicking tops and bottoms that are lightweight to midweight, synthetic wicking materials such as polyester, polypropylene, merino wool, etc.
      • Rain gear — waterproof jacket and pants or high-quality poncho, breathable fabric such as Gore-Tex® or coated nylon (for the pants look for side zippers that will easily allow pulling them over footwear)
      • Casual clothing & footwear – comfortable clothes and shoes to wear in the evening after activities.

    Gear:

      • Backpack — a 30–45 liter sized comfortable pack with a waterproof cover for use day-to-day while hiking
      • Personal luggage — small duffel bag, rolling suitcase or backpack
      • Hydration system — 2+ liters capacity, either water bottles or bladder/hose system and an additional water bottle
      • Trekking poles — telescopic/adjustable poles to help reduce the impact on joints and support hikers in steep and/or rocky terrain (strongly recommended)
      • Headlamp — preferably with an L.E.D. bulb that works with AA or AAA batteries
      • Picnic/lunch kit — knife, plate or bowl, box with closeable lid, utensils, etc.
      • Phone, charger, power bank
      • Waterproof travel case or pouch — used to keep important documents (i.e. passport, health/travel insurance, etc.) & phone safe from weather/water
      • Sunglasses, sunscreen, & lip balm
      • First aid kit
      • Personal toilet paper kit — toilet paper, wet wipes, sanitizer & sealable plastic bag(s) for carrying out used paper/wipes

    First aid kit suggestions:

    Carrying a basic personal first aid kit is strongly advised, as unforeseen situations may arise during travel. Access to medications and first aid supplies can be limited in certain destinations, making it essential to bring necessary prescription and over-the-counter items.     Min. age requirements

  • The starting point of your Cortina d’Ampezzo hiking tour is Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. To get there, most people fly into Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE).

    On Day 1 of the tour, you’ll have an organized private transfer departing Venice Airport at circa 3pm. This is included in the price. Alternatively, if this departure doesn’t suit you, you can take a train or a bus ride to Cortina d’Ampezzo on your own and meet your group at the hotel in Cortina.
