The adventure, day by day

Let’s go hiking for eight days on Italy’s most dramatic coastline, with the logistics handled and the legends built in! This Amalfi Coast walking holiday blends clifftop trails, island escapes, and ancient history into one seamless loop through Campania. Hike the Path of the Gods to Positano, circle the crater of Mount Vesuvius, and explore Pompeii and Herculaneum with expert guides. Ferry to Capri and Ischia for panoramic walks and thermal springs, then settle into handpicked hotels in Naples and Agerola. Farm lunches, Neapolitan pizza nights, local wine tastings, and luggage transfers included.

Day 1: Welcome to Naples
Naples aerial view on a clear day

Upon arrival at Naples airport, take the public transport or a taxi to our hotel in the heart of the city. In the afternoon, we will all meet and head out for a walk through Naples’ vibrant streets before sitting down to a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. This is our first taste of Campania—bold, layered, and unapologetically alive.

Meals: Dinner
Accommodation: 3-star hotel in Naples

Day 2: Ischia & Mount Epomeo
Group of hikers with sticks

We ferry to Ischia and hike through volcanic landscapes to the summit of Mount Epomeo, where sweeping views stretch across the Gulf of Naples. The island’s fertile, sea-shaped terrain reveals why it’s called the “Green Island.” Before returning to Naples, we can soak in its famous thermal waters.

Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
Hiking: 3.9 mi (6.2 km)
Elevation: +1,315 ft (+400 m) / -1,640 ft (-500 m)
Accommodation: 3-star hotel in Naples

Day 3: Mount Vesuvius & Herculaneum
Mount Vesuvius hiking trail

We transfer to Mount Vesuvius and walk around the crater rim with panoramic views over the Bay of Naples. Lunch awaits at a local farm on the volcano’s slopes, complete with wine tasting. In the afternoon, we explore Herculaneum, remarkably preserved beneath volcanic mud since 79 AD.

Hiking: 2.1 mi (3.4 km)
Elevation: +655 ft (+200 m) / -655 ft (-200 m)
Accommodation: 3-star hotel in Naples

Day 4: Capri & the Faraglioni
Capri port in Italy

We take a speed ferry to Capri and set off on a guided walk past Villa Jovis, the Natural Arch, and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the Faraglioni rock formations. After time in the iconic Piazzetta and perhaps a swim, we return to Naples in the evening.

Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
Hiking: 5.7 mi (9.1 km)
Elevation: +1,150 ft (+350 m) / -1,150 ft (-350 m)

Day 5: Pompeii & transfer to the Amalfi Coast
Ruins of Pompeii in Italy

We explore Pompeii with an expert guide, walking through amphitheaters, bathhouses, villas, and haunting plaster casts frozen in time. Later, we transfer to Agerola in the hills above the Amalfi Coast and settle into our hotel with a welcome drink.

Accommodation: 3-star hotel in Agerola

Day 6: Path of the Gods to Positano
