Itinerary

Nestled at the juncture of mountains and ocean, this coastal gem features a diverse shoreline catering to every surfer's expertise. Amidst the vibrant local culture, elevate your experience with yoga sessions and connect with the rhythm of the sea with daily surfing lessons for all skill levels. Let your skilled instructors help you find your rhythm amid the rolling waves and tranquil palm-lined courtyards of this coastal paradise.

  • Meet your guide at Agadir airport and head over to the west coast, to the town of Tamraght in Taghazout Bay. You’ll settle into your accommodation, a traditional Moroccan Riad with a pool, then dive straight into your first yoga session. Afterwards, you’ll enjoy some dinner in the tranquil courtyard under swaying palm trees and meet your guides and group.

  • Wake up early and rested, and energize with a morning yoga session before heading to the beach for your first surf. Beginners will join professional instructors for surf lessons — today is all about getting used to the movement of the board and building up confidence in the water. After lunch and some more surfing, return back to the Riad for a dip in the pool. In the evening, stretch out your muscles with another yoga session and a guided meditation, as the sun begins to set — it’s a great way to reduce any stress and promote positive emotions. Enjoy a home-cooked Moroccan dinner next to the pool in the courtyard of your Riad.

  • Now that you’ve got the swing of things, your guide will help you to progress your skills on the waves. Learn how to paddle, pop up, turn and read the waves so you can start to catch more waves for longer. Before heading out to one of Taghazout’s many restaurants, enjoy a restoring sunset yoga session.

  • Today your guide will help you hone your surf skills, analyze your pop up and help you with small adjustments to your technique. Relax your body and mind after a day of surfing with a combined sunset evening yoga and Yoga Nidra session which focuses on restoration. Then enjoy a traditional Moroccan feast next to the pool in the courtyard of your Riad.

  • Today will be your final chance to polish up and show off your surf skills. The guide will help you to combine all the skills that you have learnt during the week to grab some waves. In the evening, you’ll enjoy a final yoga session with your new surf mates before heading into Taghazout for dinner.

  • After a final morning yoga session and breakfast with your new friends, your guide will drive you back to the airport in time for your flight.

Amazing surfing and yoga experience

Courtney and Moncef are amazingly accommodating and relaxed hosts. I had never surfed before but picked up a lot during the week I stayed, with the attentive tuition and encouragement. Courtney always went above and beyond – thank you so much!

Great stay and surfing
Neil H (source: Tripadvisor)

We had a fabulous stay at Mint Surf with surfing package. From the moment we arrived we felt at home and very relaxed. The hosts, owners and yoga and surf instructors were all amazing and we had a great time surfing, doing yoga and exploring the local area. My partner was a beginner surfer and we were both quite new to yoga but the instructors always made us feel confident and safe, and were great at giving advice and tips. Would definitely recommend Mint Surf!

Amazing surfing experience!!
connorgower (source: Tripadvisor)

Feeling glum after seemingly endless months of wet and windy UK winter, I spontaneously decided to sign up for a 6-day beginners surf trip with Mint Surf. It was absolutely excellent and I cannot recommend it highly enough! Courtney made sure everything was perfectly organized, from the taxi to and from the airport, the delicious breakfasts and lunches provided each day, the clean and tidy accommodation, organizing wetsuits and boards for us, and of course the surfing and tuition itself, which was also brilliant! The weather was also perfect – around the mid 20s every day during the day. I highly recommend this as great trip for solo travellers – there were a fair few others in a similar situation to me, making for a great atmosphere all round (larger groups would also definitely be welcome!) I would definitely consider returning here in the future 🙂

Lovely Camp!!
Romy S (source: Tripadvisor)

Really well organized! Starts in the morning with yoga, then a lovely breakfast (pancakes!), then going surfing (with lessons), lunch (e.g. a couscous-salad, some fruit, cookies and a drink) and then you can go again surfing for your own. Afterwards leaving to the Camp. In the evening again yoga (even if it is just one person) and afterwards your going out in a restaurant in a group. And by the way you are living right next to the ocean. Lovely!! Had been to a lot of surf camps, this is one of the bests!

Fantastic hosts, knowledgeable coaches, amazing experience
Emma D (source: Tripadvisor)

I cannot recommend Mint Surf enough. Courtney was a fantastic host, always on hand to help you, give recommendations and show you the area. The surf instructors were also amazing. Friendly and so knowledgeable of the beaches and waves that you felt completely safe in the water at all times. They gave you great feedback and lots of encouragement so you continually saw progress in your surfing. Before the trip I’d only had one or two lessons (so still very much a beginner) and by the end I was standing up consistently, with stability and learning how to turn, speed up and slow down. Our group was mixed ability with some experienced surfers and they made sure to cater to everyone’s ability and take us to locations where both beginners could learn safely and experienced surfers could catch some great waves. I’ve got the bug for surfing now and will definitely go back to Taghazout and the Mint Surf team!

  • Taghazout is a bit of a mecca for surfing, but there are many other cool things to do. You can go on a hike, sunbathe on sandy beaches, go shopping in the local markets or visit a local Moroccan bathhouse (hammam).

The most popular hike is located in the ancient Paradise Valley amongst the palm trees and clear blue pools of water. The path through the valley is easily navigable.

The big souk (market) in Agadir provides the quintessential Moroccan shopping experience with leather goods, woodwork, ceramics, carpets, blankets, jewelry and clothing. Don’t forget to haggle!

Horse and camel rides and quad biking are all close by and easily organized.

  • The accommodation is a twin or double sharing room with ensuite bathroom in a traditional Moroccan Riad. Its location is around a 5-minute walk from the beach and offers a pool and free wifi.

You can share a room or request a single bedroom for an additional fee. Find more info upon booking.

  • You will start each day with a buffet-style breakfast, typically consisting of pancakes, jams, baguettes, eggs, juice, coffee and tea. Your lunch will mostly be sandwiches, fruit, biscuits and a soda. Some dinners will be in-house, usually consisting of tagines and couscous. Some dinners will be at one of the many highly rated restaurants in the area. Keep in mind that dinners are not included in the price of the retreat.

Let us know in advance if you have any special requirements, and your guides will do their best to make sure you have what you need. Make sure to let us know if you avoid dairy (milk and cheese) or eggs. Not all specialized food alternatives are available—soy milk and some diabetic products are available but if you are gluten free, please bring your own gluten wraps/bread to be used in your sandwiches for lunch.

No alcohol is sold or served in town, but taxis can take you for a drink at one of the newer local hotel bars near the town to experience Agadir’s nightlife.

  • Tap water at your accommodation is technically safe for drinking, and certainly fine for cooking and brushing teeth, but it is not recommended to drink large quantities. Bottled water is cheap in Morocco (5 dirhams) and is available everywhere. You can also bring a water purifier if you prefer.

  • Taghazout’s temperate climate ensures optimal conditions year-round, promising endless outdoor adventures!

Morocco is a great destination with over 300 days of sunshine a year. In summer, the temperatures in Taghazout can be around 20 – 35 degrees Celsius. In winter the temperatures can range from 15- 26 degrees Celsius. During the winter months, the waves that have made Morocco famous come to life, so this is the best time for advanced surfers.

It can get chilly at night, and trousers and jumpers are necessary from fall through spring, and especially winter, so make sure you bring some warm clothes too.

  • Group sizes and prices:

      • For this group retreat, the max. group size is 18 people, with a max. 8:1 ratio during surfing lessons.
      • The cost does not decrease as the group grows.
      • Solo surfers are welcome – it’s a great way to meet like-minded people.

Surfing in Taghazout Bay can be arranged for larger groups. Contact us to make arrangements.

    Min. age requirements:

      • If you are older than 18, you’re good to go.
      • Minors older than 14 may be permitted to join the retreat, but must be in the presence of a parent or legal guardian.
  • To get to your retreat, most people fly into Agadir airport (AGA) airport, 30 minutes away from Taghazout Bay. You will be collected at the airport anytime on day 1 of your itinerary. We recommend arriving by 4.30pm, to make the most of the first day (your first yoga session starts at 6pm).

On day 6, you will be dropped off at Agadir airport (AGA) at a time agreed upon with your guides.

Agadir is served by direct flights from the UK and other major European airports, while US guests can travel via Casablanca or other European airports (London, Paris, Amsterdam, etc.) as there are no direct flights to Agadir.

  • EU, US, Australia and New Zealand passport holders with a passport that is valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date do not require a visa to enter Morocco for tourist purposes.

  • We highly recommend that you cover all your bases with both emergency medical and travel insurance. With medical insurance, if you have an accident or medical emergency on or off the mountain, you’ll avoid paying out of pocket for costly expenses. This covers everything from hospital treatments to emergency air transportation and more.

Travel insurance covers canceled flights, natural disasters and other scenarios that may interrupt your travel plans.

We also expect you to respect local regulations and take measures to protect yourselves, your guides, and the communities you’re traveling to. For more information on travel recommendations and restrictions in Morocco please refer to the official website of the Moroccan National Tourism Office.

If you need assistance selecting the right insurance for your group, let us know and we will be happy to help!
