Somewhere Center did a fabulous job organizing and supporting the self guided tour along the Silver Coast of Portugal. The route was almost entirely on paved back roads and trails and through small villages. The bikes provided were great on the hills and comfortable.

  • We begin our journey with a transfer from Lisbon to the historic city of Coimbra. After checking in, we have time to settle into our hotel and explore the city at a relaxed pace. Coimbra’s rich academic and cultural heritage sets the tone for the days ahead, with its riverside setting, historic streets, and deep spiritual roots. The afternoon is ideal for a gentle orientation walk, enjoying nearby cafés or visiting landmarks close to the hotel before our first evening at leisure.

  • We leave Coimbra behind and ride into the peaceful countryside of central Portugal, following quiet roads through olive groves, villages, and rolling limestone hills. The route gradually leads us away from the Mondego River into more rural landscapes, with stops in Cernache and the Roman ruins of Conímbriga offering both cultural insight and rest along the way. As we approach the Serra de Sicó region, gentle but steady climbs bring rewarding views before descending into the welcoming town of Ansião, where we settle in for the night.

Upon arrival, the atmosphere shifts noticeably, offering a sense of calm, purpose, and contemplation. We enjoy time to explore the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima and the surrounding town at our own pace.
