Designed in the style of a traditional Phinsi Indonesian Schooner vessel, the Jakaré combines comfort with adventure.
At 30 m (98 ft) long, it has five decks and five air-conditioned cabins, each with en-suite bathrooms. The ship is fully equipped for diving, with a dive deck and dive boats.
Designed for relaxation and socialising, the Jakaré includes a dining area and lounge decks and accommodates 10 guests with a dedicated 11-member crew.
All cabins on Jakaré are set up for comfort at sea, with private ensuite bathrooms, air-conditioning, and storage space. Cabin types differ mainly by layout and position on the boat, so you can choose what matters most between activities.
-
- Classic cabins are located toward the front and are arranged with single-bed layouts, offering a practical, comfortable setup for guests who prefer separate sleeping spaces, with the same ensuite and air-conditioning features as the other cabins.
- Superior central cabins offer a more upgraded layout, typically combining a double bed plus an additional single, giving a bit more flexibility and comfort while keeping the same ensuite and air-conditioning standard.
- The premium aft suite is the most distinctive option, featuring a double bed and a private wooden deck area with direct outdoor access, ideal if you want the easiest step-out connection to the sea.
As for the one hotel night, forget the usual stopover hotel.
If departing from Gorontalo, we spend one night at Aston Gorontalo Hotel & Villas, a waterfront property where it’s easy to unwind before the adventure begins. Spacious rooms, sea views, and a pool overlooking the bay make it a comfortable place to land after travel, while the coastal setting hints at what’s coming next. It’s a calm, easy launchpad to slow down, get organized, and ease into island mode before we head out on the water.
If we’re starting in Luwuk, we’ll enjoy the first night at Swiss-Belinn Luwuk, a modern, well-appointed hotel that provides solid comfort without fuss. Rooms are fresh, clean, and roomy, with big windows and a relaxed vibe that makes it easy to stretch out after travel. There’s a pool and common areas where we can unwind, sort gear, and get our bearings before setting off on the liveaboard portion of the trip.
Is it possible to give 6 stars? There is no possible way to pick out one single highlight of this trip, as there were so many, every day. Of course the location is amazing, but the experience of seeing it all from sea level, with our brilliant guides made it all the more astounding.
