A classic Sea-to-Sky summit, Mount Garibaldi is full of energy—even if the volcano itself is long dormant! Towering above the town of Squamish, it’s one of the most iconic peaks in the area, and we’re climbing it over two days. We’ll use the ultra-classic northeast face, just challenging enough to make the summit feel like it has to be earned. At 2,678 meters (8,786 feet), this volcano is a real alpine challenge—the route includes glacier travel, navigating crevasses, climbing snow and ice up to 45 degrees, and a demanding bergschrund crossing. With just two guests per guide, you’ll have plenty of support to make the climb safe, fun, and something you’ll never forget.

We did a two-day alpine climbing trip with Monte this August. We do a lot of hiking, but we had limited climbing experience. Monte was a generous and awesome guide! He taught us patiently and in an intelligent way all the needed techniques. We had a great time, we learned a lot, all in a beautiful setting! We want to come back!

Itinerary

This Mount Garibaldi guided climb offers an unforgettable two-day adventure with a professional guide, group equipment, glacier gear rental, and 4x4 transfers included! Towering over Howe Sound and Squamish, this iconic BC volcano stands 2,678 m (8,786 ft) tall. The classic northeast face route features glacier travel, technical crevasse navigation, snow and ice climbing up to 45 degrees, and a challenging bergschrund crossing. Starting near sea level in Squamish, you’ll earn some of the best summit views along the Sea-to-Sky corridor.

  • Meet your guide in Squamish early in the morning before hopping into a 4×4 for a scenic drive up to Brohm Ridge. From there, you’ll hike across alpine terrain toward the Shark’s Fin on the north side of Garibaldi, where you’ll set up camp in a stunning backcountry setting. After settling in, enjoy a short glacier walk to preview the route for the next day’s climb—a chance to stretch your legs, review terrain, and soak in the high mountain views.

  • Rise early for an alpine start and begin the ascent of the Warren Glacier toward the Northeast Face of Mount Garibaldi. Climb moderate ice and snow—up to 45 degrees—until you reach the ridge, then enjoy a scenic scramble along it all the way to the summit, where panoramic views over Howe Sound reward your efforts. After soaking in the summit experience, descend the same route back to camp, pack up, and hike out to Brohm Ridge. You’ll return to Squamish in time for a well-earned dinner and one last look at Garibaldi from a local patio.
