Cancellations and COVID-19
In light of the current situation, we’re working to handle all trip cancellations appropriately. Cancel within 48 hours of booking your trip for free, no questions asked. If you need to change your plans up to 31 days ahead of your scheduled adventure, we offer a full refund on most trips. Within 31 days we offer free date changes or the option to convert your booking to credit to use on any 57hours adventure at a later date.
What if there is no wind? What about bad weather?
Lessons are subject to wind conditions, and despite instructors’ best forecasting efforts, sometimes fickle wind requires that lessons need to be called off. In this case, your remaining booked hours will be rescheduled for a more favorable day or you’ll be given a full refund minus the administrative fee.
As for the bad weather, instructors are prepared for almost anything Mother Nature can throw and them, and you’ll find yourself surfing in most weather conditions.
If any significant threats to your safety begin to appear, such as thunderstorms or unmanageable waves, your instructor will not hesitate to reschedule your adventure for a more favorable day. Our own 57hours team can confirm that’s rarely the case, though. If you’re really eager, you can get lessons rain or shine, but we have to admit, the beach and sun go hand in hand together, so check the weather forecast!
Do I need an insurance policy?
We highly recommended that you cover all your bases with both emergency medical and travel insurance. With medical insurance, if you have an accident or medical emergency on or off the mountain, you’ll avoid paying out of pocket for costly expenses. This covers everything from hospital treatments to emergency air transportation and more.
As we’ve recently seen, travel plans can be abruptly halted, so it’s a good idea to purchase travel insurance that covers cancelled flights, natural disasters and other scenarios that may interrupt your travel plans. For peace of mind, we suggest you consider both options of insurance.

What can I expect from surfing lessons?
Gliding through the air, while wind and waves rush past you sounds heavenly, but trust us, it feels even better! So don’t blame 57hours when you get addicted.
Surfing is fun and it’s a great workout. Everyone can do it, no matter your previous skill level with any water sports — you pick your own pace and the conditions you feel comfortable in. And no, you can’t fly away! The equipment is designed to move how you want it to move, but it will seem like you’re flying, which is the best part. If you ask us, there’s really no reason not to try it!
Lessons are completely catered to your goals and experience level. If this is your first time, an experienced instructor will show you the ropes and teach you how to catch waves safely. It’s harder than in the movies, but you’ll get there. Some students will be master the basics right away, while others will require a few more lessons to do the same. There are many factors at play, your fitness level and stamina, weather conditions, winds and tides. One thing’s for sure, we’ll be with you every step of the way, and you’ll have fun doing it.
What should I do if I wear contact lenses?
Disposable contact lenses are the best option for surfing. Otherwise, you can wear an old pair and close your eyes tightly when underwater. Either way, consider wearing swimming goggles to avoid losing your contacts.
