We’ll bike through centuries of history, from Greek temples to baroque masterpieces, with pit stops for Modica chocolate, out-of-this-world gelato, wine that Dionysus would toast, and cheese that redefines decadence. One moment, we’ll be coasting along the coast; the next, we’re already climbing the fiery slopes of Etna. Throw in classy accommodation in luxe hotels, baggage transfers, and a support van, and you’ve got a week that’s pure magic.

Itinerary

Let’s go on a 7-day luxury cycling journey blending culture, nature, and indulgence! Cycle through Sicily’s ancient towns, baroque architecture, and postcard-worthy coastlines. Conquer the slopes of Mount Etna, Europe’s largest active volcano, and explore villages steeped in history. Along the way, indulge in the island’s culinary treasures: Modica’s famous chocolate, creamy gelato by the sea, bold Sicilian wines, and local cheeses. With carefully planned routes and experienced guides, you’ll enjoy a relaxed pace and breathtaking scenery. From sunlit piazzas to lava-scarred landscapes, this trip offers the ultimate Sicilian experience for cyclists and food lovers alike.

  • In the morning, there’s a Meet & Greet at the hotel in Siracusa. After a thorough bike fitting, we’ll start the bike tour with the conquest of the Hellenic and Roman Island ride towards Noto; the Capital of the local Barocco Siciliano. We will cross Avola, which gives the name to the famous Sicilian grape. Later on, we will arrive at the exotic fisherman village of Marzamemi, where we will have an unforgettable aperitivo. Our next goal is Modica, the core of the baroque Sicilian style. In the evening, we’ll have our first Sicilian dinner together.

  • Today’s journey will start with a ride to Modica town center, famous for its chocolate tradition, and we’ll stop for our own chocolate tasting at Cioccolateria Bonaiuto. Leaving from Modica, we will climb a high plateau before reaching Ragusa, where we will stop for a gelato or a coffee in the old town. Famous here are the gardens “Giardini Iblei” and the Duomo of Ragusa.

Then, we’re back in the saddle for a ride to the seaside town of Donnalucata, where they used to film the “Commissario Montalbano” TV series. Our last goal for today is Scicli. We’ll finish our ride with a short transfer from Scicli to the hotel or cycle a bit longer, if desired.

Tonight, a Sicilian-style gourmet dinner awaits us in the hotel restaurant.

We will ride towards Chiaramonte Gulfi, the town of ceramics, mostly downhill for the first part, and then up and down till the Caltagirone climb. On the way, we can stop for a lunch break (at your own expense) directly in Caltagirone or just before, at Agriturismo Casa degli Angeli, if available. Later, we’ll arrive at Caltagirone, the town of artistic ceramics, famous for its ceramic staircase. There’s also a wine tasting and a delicious dinner included at the hotel at 6pm.

  • Today, there’s a van transfer in the morning from Caltagirone to Catania to the Etna area, and a bike ride to Linguaglossa. Today’s ride is one of the more difficult of the tour. On some stops, we’ll have a coffee or maybe a light lunch for those who want it. Finally, we’ll arrive at Piano Provenzana, the ski area of Etna’s north side. Later on, we’ll go to Linguaglossa and have dinner at Villa Neri restaurant.

There’s an option to walk among the craters starting from the Mareneve plateau, with a hike of about 12 km / 7.5 mi. Those who opt for the hike will be picked up at the hotel and won’t bike today!

When the tour of Etna finishes, whether on bike or on foot, we’ll all go back to the hotel in Linguaglossa and arrive just in time for a wine tasting and a farewell dinner in the city center.

The Alcantara Gorge is an ancient valley carved out by the spring water cutting its way out and down a calcareous rock formation. We’ll pass little towns such as Giardini Naxos, and the seaside road will take us up to the breathtaking town of Taormina, ideal for shopping, tasting, and visiting the Greek theatre. After that, we’ll say our goodbyes and depart back home.

What an amazing experience! From the trip booking to the last day of the tour, the communication with Mauro was amazing! Excellent accommodations during the whole week. Great group of fun people! The cooking classes, wine and olive oil tasting were also amazing. The bicycles were top notch and I have not had a single technical issue during the week. And on top of everything, an extraordinary guide (Lieven) and a fabulous driver (Carlo) made this experience so much more enjoyable. I totally recommend BTS and cannot wait for our next tour. Mauro, Lieven & Carlo, you guys rock!

This was again a great tour with Mauro attentive as always for the wishes of our 9-person group. The ebikes were the best ever, even on the day with 1250 elevation meters we arrived at our destination almost effortlessly. The choice of routes and good hotels & restaurants as well as Mauro’s relaxed way of handling things all contributed to this week being a real success for every participant. We all went away with lovely experiences and memories to cherish. Avid bikers and ebikers, this is your go-to address!
