Glacier crossings, cozy huts, and untouched powder—this is a six-day hut-to-hut ski touring adventure in the heart of the Silvretta Alps, led by UIAGM/IFMGA-certified Piste to Powder mountain guides. Each day we ascend into high-alpine terrain, traversing sweeping cols, glaciated passes, and wide-open powder bowls before settling into legendary huts such as the Heidelberger, Jamtal, and Wiesbadener. Evenings bring hot showers, hearty three-course dinners, and alpine camaraderie. It’s the classic Silvretta experience: authentic hut life, breathtaking scenery, and unforgettable descents!

Itinerary

Embark on a thrilling 6-day hut-to-hut ski touring adventure in the heart of the Silvretta Alps, led by an experienced guide! We'll ascend into high-alpine terrain, traversing sweeping cols, glaciated passes, and wide-open powder slopes between legendary huts like the Heidelberger, Jamtal, and Wiesbadener. Evenings are spent in warm, welcoming mountain refuges, enjoying hearty alpine dinners. With all breakfasts and dinners included, this journey offers pure skiing freedom before returning to the valley with tired legs and unforgettable memories.

  • Fine-tune your touring skills with a half-day workshop in St. Anton, the perfect chance to test your gear, warm up your legs, and sample some of the area’s legendary freeride terrain with your guide. The afternoon is yours to enjoy—pick up last-minute essentials, unwind in the pool and sauna, or treat yourself to a sports massage arranged by the Piste to Powder team. Later, transfer by train and taxi to Landeck, where you’ll settle into a cozy guesthouse and share a relaxed welcome dinner with your group.

    Note that accommodation for the night is not included, but can be booked for you.

  • Your hut-to-hut adventure begins with a scenic taxi ride to Ischgl, the gateway to this high-alpine paradise. From here, we ascend into the backcountry for our first ski tour, combined with an avalanche safety session at the Heidelberger Hütte (2,264 m / 7,428 ft). After settling into the hut, we’ll enjoy a hearty alpine dinner and a relaxed briefing on the days ahead before turning in for the night at the Heidelberger Hütte.

  • With light packs, we’ll head out from the Heidelbergerhütte to explore nearby summits and cols, covering 600–800 m (2,000–2,600 ft) of ascent over 8–10 km (5–6 mi). The day provides the perfect chance to practice kick turns and refine skinning techniques, with wide-open slopes and enjoyable descents that build confidence. In the evening, we return to the Heidelbergerhütte for a second cozy night.

    Distance: 8-10 km (5-6 mi)

  • Today, we bid farewell to the Heidelberger Hütte, tracing a route over sweeping mountain cols and into expansive alpine basins. The day involves roughly 900 m (2,953 ft) of ascent over 12–14 km (7–9 mi) as we make our way to the Jamtal Hütte (2,165 m / 7,103 ft), a legendary base for Silvretta adventures. Along the way, we’ll soak in panoramic views of rugged peaks and shimmering glaciers that offer a preview of the days ahead. Overnight at the Jamtal Hütte.

    Distance: 12-14 km (7.5-8.7 mi)

    Sivretta backcountry skiers
  • A true highlight awaits as we skin beneath the imposing Piz Buin (3,312 m / 10,866 ft), the highest peak in the range, and traverse glaciated passes linked by thrilling descents. The day involves around 1,000 m (3,281 ft) of ascent and 12–15 km (7–9 mi) of travel, finishing at the Wiesbadenerhütte (2,443 m / 8,015 ft), a historic mountain hut known for its hot showers and unforgettable sunsets.

  • Our finale begins with a morning tour, gaining 500–700 m (1,640–2,297 ft) before a long, rewarding descent to Galtür. There we’ll enjoy a final lunch, legs pleasantly tired and cameras full of memories from an unforgettable Silvretta adventure, before returning by taxi to Landeck.

  • The 6-day Silvretta ski touring adventure is best suited for those with solid backcountry experience and a great level of fitness. You’ll be ski touring for five consecutive days, typically 4–6 hours per day, with daily ascents of up to 1,000 m (3,280 ft). This trip offers a rewarding challenge for strong skiers eager to experience a true hut-to-hut journey in the Alps.

  • For technical backcountry ski touring gear, you will need to bring:

      • Light touring skis with pin bindings and skins (can be rented)
      • Touring boots and poles (can be rented)
      • Avalanche safety equipment (can be rented):
        • Digital, 3-antenna avalanche transceiver or beacon
        • Lightweight snow shovel
        • Avalanche probe

    For personal items, you will need to bring:

      • Helmet
      • Ski goggles
      • Gloves and hat
      • Wind and waterproof shell jacket with hood (Gore-Tex recommended)
      • Ski pants (Gore-Tex recommended)
      • Down jacket or vest
      • Synthetic or wool base layers, underwear and socks
      • One triple-action locking carabiner or two conventional locking carabiners
      • Repair kit and Leatherman for your equipment (can be shared between several people)
      • Water bottle (1L capacity)
      • Thermos for a warm beverage — optional
      • Mini first aid kit
      • Sunscreen
      • Backpack with ski-carry straps large enough to carry all items listed (around a 30L capacity)
      • Camera — optional
  • All mandatory gear can be rented if you don’t have your own. You can rent:

      • Avalanche safety pack, including backpack, beacon, shovel and probe (from your guides).
      • Alpine touring or telemark skis, touring boots and poles (from various ski rental places in Bludenz/St. Anton).

    Ski rental locations are in Bludenz/St. Anton and should be picked up the night prior to your outing. If you need to rent gear, let us know at checkout and we can help make arrangements.

  • Group sizes and pricing

      • For this Silvretta ski touring adventure, the usual client-to-guide ratio is 7:1. 
      • It takes a minimum of 4 people for this tour to operate. The maximum group size is set at 7 participants.

    Silvretta ski touring adventures can be arranged for larger groups. Contact us to make arrangements.

    Min. age requirements

      • If you are older than 18, you’re good to go.
      • Minors older than 14 may be permitted to join the Silvretta ski touring adventure on a case-by-case basis, but must be in the presence of a parent or legal guardian.

    If your group has participants under the age of 18, contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

  • To get to St. Anton,  the starting point of the adventure, most people fly into Zurich Airport (ZRH). There is a direct train line connecting Zurich and St. Anton, so we suggest taking a train ride from the main railway station in Zurich. This shuttle will take you around 2 hours.

  • A single occupancy room is not available on this Silvretta ski touring adventure as you’ll be spending your nights in shared dorms in huts.

  • We highly recommend that you cover all your bases with insurance. To make your booking and traveling experience as carefree as possible, you’ll be offered to simply insure your trip with Redpoint at checkout.

  • To secure your spot, a deposit in the amount of 30% is required at the time of booking. The remaining amount must be paid 90 calendar days prior to the trip departure. Once the trip is confirmed by the guide, the cancellation policy stated below applies. If you cancel the booking…

      • More than 60 days before the departure date, you are entitled to a refund in the amount of 70% of the full trip price (less the booking fees).
      • 30 to 59 days before the departure date, you are entitled to a refund in the amount of 50% of the full trip price (less the booking fees).
      • Within 30 days of the departure date, no refund will be issued.

    Please note that booking fees are non-refundable in all cases and will be deducted from the refund amount.
