What do people think of Slovenia Bike Tours?
Jen

An absolute must for anyone visiting Slovenia. I am not normally one to rate tours as they can be very standard and generic but this tour is a one off experience that you will not undergo if you were not with a local.

Blaz took us on the most fun and incredible bike ride suited to our ability and needs. He took us to all the beautiful places that tourists do not get to so you get to experience all of the beautiful areas to yourself. We met some local people along the way, learnt about the local culture and ways, ate the local foods & drinks.

HourAway provided attentive, responsive itineraries and accommodations for our group of six. We were biking, hiking, rafting, dining, drinking, and laughing the entire trip. With our guide’s inside connections we were able to talk to many creative and passionate Slovenians. We ate wonderful meals , slept well. Our daily adventures led us to stunning locations! We will be encouraging our family to join Nejc and HourAway as soon as they can!

This was a highlight of our trip! Nejc planned an amazing ride for us and was so kind, flexible, and communicative. This is a great way to see Slovenia and the route is through very well-kempt gravel roads with minimal cars so it felt very safe. He gave great recommendations for dining and points of interest along the way.

Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist, a curious beginner, or a family looking for a fun, active getaway, our local guides tailor each ride to match your comfort and pace. It’s all about enjoying the journey, not racing to the finish line.

  • Not unless you want to. Most of our Slovenia bike tours include high-quality bikes, standard, e-bike, or mountain bike, depending on the trip. Your guide will make sure everything fits perfectly before the first ride, so you can focus on the views instead of the gears. If you prefer to bring your own bike, that’s perfectly fine too!

  • Absolutely. Slovenia has gentle riding terrain, well-maintained cycling paths, and a welcoming culture, which makes it ideal for families and 50+ travelers alike. With e-bikes available and plenty of rest stops built into each route, these tours are about enjoying the scenery and shared experiences, not testing endurance.

  • The prime cycling season runs from May through October, when the weather is warm, the days are long, and the landscapes are bursting with color. Spring and early fall are perfect for mild temperatures and fewer crowds, while summer is ideal for sunny rides and lake swims between rides.

  • Keep it simple and comfortable. Bring breathable cycling clothes, lightweight layers, a windbreaker or rain jacket, and sturdy shoes for short hikes or town strolls. Don’t forget sunscreen, sunglasses, and a reusable water bottle. All technical gear—like bikes, helmets, and repair kits—is provided.

Every trip has its own requirements and specific packing list, so make sure to check out the “What do I need to bring?” section on the trip’s Adventure Page.

  • Our cycling tours in Slovenia follow scenic paved routes and quiet country roads. Ideal for relaxed riders who want to soak in the views.

Mountain biking tours venture off-road, exploring forest trails and alpine terrain for a bit more thrill.

And e-bike tours offer the best of both worlds: effortless climbs, flexible distances, and pure fun for riders of all ages and fitness levels.
