It’s really unlike anything else, and our 6-day women-only hiking journey takes us beyond the surface, into the everyday rhythm of West Greenland. From Ilulissat and the UNESCO-listed Icefjord to Disko Island’s volcanic cliffs and the calving Eqi Glacier, this journey blends raw nature, Inuit culture, and once-in-a-lifetime adventure. From scenic fjord cruises to top-notch restaurants and museum visits, your summer will be anything by ordinary.

Join our women-only West Greenland hiking tour for an unforgettable Arctic adventure! We’ll explore Ilulissat with its colorful houses and UNESCO-listed Icefjord, cruise among massive icebergs, and discover Disko Island’s volcanic cliffs, black sand beaches, and sweeping meadows. We’ll hike scenic trails, savor authentic Greenlandic cuisine, meet local communities, and keep an eye out for whales. This journey combines wild landscapes, cultural immersion, and shared experiences that will stay with you forever.

  • Pack a few snacks in your bag—lunch will be fashionably late, as we’ll touch down in Ilulissat right around midday. From the airport, it’s a quick hop to the hotel to drop off your bags before heading straight to the harbour, where a private sailing adventure awaits. We’ll glide through the legendary Icefjords, soaking up dazzling views on the way to a tiny village, where a cozy local spot serves Greenlandic specialties sure to delight your taste buds. In the late afternoon, we’ll sail back to Ilulissat to check in for the night, with the evening free to enjoy dinner wherever you like and unwind at your own pace.

  • Start the day with a cheerful breakfast and your favorite coffee—fuel for the adventures ahead! We’ll spend the morning wandering the colorful streets of Ilulissat, discovering its charm and hidden gems. By midday, we’ll bid farewell to our hotel and set sail on a scenic two-hour ferry ride to epic Disko Island. Once settled in our rooms, a local guide full of stories and fishing poles leads us on an exploration of the island’s wonders. Try your luck casting for fresh cod—if you catch one, you might even cook and savor it on the spot. A day of local flavors, hands-on fun, and unforgettable memories awaits!

  • Get ready for another epic day with our local guide! We’ll sail along the wild east coast of Disko Island, taking in ever-changing landscapes—from rugged cliffs to black sand beaches—while spotting seals on the rocks, whales breaching, and seabirds overhead. The highlight: cruising through a massive volcanic basalt rock with a giant hole carved by ancient lava flows, standing like nature’s own gateway. We’ll hop ashore for a short 15–20 minute hike to two stunning waterfalls—ideal for deep breaths and photos—then continue with a hike up the iconic 800-meter mountain towering over the town. At the summit, panoramic views of Disko Bay, Ilulissat, Qasigiannguit, and Aasiaat await. In the afternoon, we’ll ferry back to Ilulissat, soaking in the last island views, before enjoying a delicious dinner together, sharing stories, laughs, and the perfect end to an unforgettable day.

  • Rise and shine—another magical day in Ilulissat awaits! Today’s adventure takes us on a 7 km (4.4 mi) hike along the shimmering edge of the world-famous Icefjord, where you’ll enjoy jaw-dropping views of towering icebergs drifting past with the dramatic Sermermiut Valley as your backdrop. Walking in the footsteps of ancient Inuit communities adds a layer of history to every step. At the perfect overlook, we’ll enjoy a cheerful picnic with sweeping Arctic views (and maybe a curious seagull or two). The trail can get a bit bumpy or soggy in places, but the scenery makes it all worth it. In the afternoon, the pace slows down—you’re free to wander the colorful town, explore local shops, or simply relax and take in the Arctic beauty.

  • Another day, another adventure! We’ll set off on a boat trip to the legendary EQI calving glacier, crossing icy blue waters and listening to the thunderous roar of colossal slabs of ice crashing into the sea—a natural spectacle that will leave you speechless and your camera roll overflowing. On the way back to Ilulissat, we’ll stop in the charming village of Oqaatsut for a delicious meal at a cozy local restaurant. Famous for its stunning red cliffs, it’s the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll and a few last scenic shots before continuing on. This day is the ultimate mix of glacier drama, authentic culture, mouthwatering food, and views that will leave you grinning from ear to ear.

  • Sleep in and enjoy a relaxed late breakfast—you’ve earned it! We’ll head to our 2:10pm flight back to Iceland, arriving in time for a festive farewell dinner in Reykjavík. It’s the perfect opportunity to swap stories, share laughs, and say your goodbyes.

  • In order to join this West Greenland hiking tour, good fitness is required. You’ll be hiking for 4 days in a row, often on rugged terrain. You’ll only be carrying your daypack—all your luggage will be at your accommodation—which makes the days significantly easier. You can also opt out of a day hike and spend some time exploring the town at your own pace.

    Dress comfortably and for the weather in clothes you can move in. We suggest bringing clothing appropriate for the season. Layers are best and don’t wear jeans.

      • For this West Greenland hiking tour, the usual client-to-guide ratio is 8:1. 
      • It takes a minimum of 4 people for this tour to operate. The maximum group size is set at 8 participants.
      • This is a women-only tour.
      • Solo travelers are welcomed and encouraged to sign up—you can either opt for a single supplement or you can choose to share a room with one of your fellow travelers! Note that a single supplement will never be enforced—in case there’s an odd number of travellers, solo travellers will take turns staying in single rooms.

    Min. age requirements

      • If you are older than 18, you’re good to go.
      • Minors younger than 18 may be permitted to join the West Greenland hiking tour on a case-by-case basis, but must be in the presence of a parent or legal guardian.

  • The price for this West Greenland hiking tour is based on twin-share rooms, but a single occupancy room can be arranged at an additional fee. You can add it to your booking at checkout.

    Solo travelers are welcomed and encouraged to sign up—you can either opt for a single supplement or you can choose to share a room with one of your fellow travelers! Note that a single supplement will never be enforced—in case there’s an odd number of travellers, solo travellers will take turns staying in single rooms.

  • The starting point of your West Greenland hiking tour is Reykjavik, Iceland. To get there, fly into Keflavík International Airport (KEF), serving Reykjavik. From there, it’s best to hop on a shuttle to Reykjavik, or you can take a taxi. It takes about 45 minutes to reach Reykjavik.

    As your flight for Greenland departs in the morning of Day 1, make sure to arrive in Reykjavik at least a day before Day 1 of the tour.

  • Deposits

    Secure your spot with a 30% deposit upon booking! The remaining 70% of the trip price must be paid 90 days prior to departure at the latest. If booking within 90 days of departure, the full amount is required at the time of booking.

    Cancellations

    Booking fees are non-refundable after a 48-hour grace period. During checkout, however, you can choose one of 57hours’ flexibility options—Basic, Flexible, or Super Flexible. Depending on which one you choose, a different cancellation policy will apply to your booking.

      • If cancelled within 48 hours of booking, a full refund will be issued.
      • If cancelled 90 or more days before departure, a 70% refund of the total trip price will be issued.
      • If cancelled within 89 days of departure, no refund will be issued.

    Flexible

      • If cancelled within 48 hours of booking, a full refund will be issued.
      • If cancelled 90 or more days before departure, a full refund of the total trip price will be issued.
      • If cancelled 60-89 days before departure, a 50% refund of the total trip price will be issued.
      • If cancelled within 59 days of departure, no refund will be issued.

    Super Flexible

      • If cancelled within 48 hours of booking, a full refund will be issued.
      • If cancelled 60 or more days before departure, a full refund of the total trip price will be issued.
      • If cancelled within 59 days of departure, a 50% refund of the total trip price will be issued.
