Our home for the week will be the AMADEUS Provence, a luxe river ship built in 2017 designed for slow days and close views of the Rhône and Saône. Life on board unfolds gently: soft colors inside, wide windows framing vineyards, lavender fields, and clusters of Provençal houses drifting by.
Between days ashore, there’s time to float in the infinity pool, enjoy a quiet drink at the bar, stretch out on the river terrace, or simply watch the scenery pass. By the end of the week, the rhythm feels distinctly Provençal—unhurried, grounded, and quietly refined. Around 40 dedicated crew members are on board, taking care of every detail to ensure a smooth, comfortable, and truly relaxing journey from start to finish.
All cabins offer the same thoughtful level of comfort, with private bathrooms, climate control, flexible bedding, and well-designed living space. The main difference between cabin categories is their location on the ship and how they connect to the river scenery.
-
- Cabins C are located on the Haydn Deck, the lowest deck, and feature a viewing window that brings in natural light while keeping the space calm and cozy.
- Cabins B are found on the Strauss Deck and include a lowerable panoramic window, offering open views and a closer connection to the passing landscape.
- Cabins A and the AMADEUS Suite are situated on the Mozart Deck, the highest passenger deck. Here, cabins enjoy elevated views, with the suite adding extra space and a walk-out balcony for stepping outside and taking in the river at your own pace.
A single occupancy cabin can be arranged at an additional fee—please let us know before booking if interested.
Dining on board follows an easy, unhurried rhythm, with food and drink available throughout the day. Mornings begin with options to suit every pace, from an early riser breakfast to a full buffet or a lighter continental breakfast. Lunches and dinners are served as multi-course meals with menu choices, including vegetarian options, and are paired with free-flowing, hand-selected wines from top wine regions. Freshly baked bread and pastries, afternoon tea, and individually prepared late-night snacks round out the day, while coffee and tea are available 24 hours a day in the Amadeus Club. The experience is complemented by a Welcome Cocktail Reception, Welcome Dinner, and the Captain’s Gala Dinner, adding a celebratory note to life on board.
The bike trails were well maintained and the guides were very helpful. The overnight stays on the boat were very comfortable and the food was delicious. I can recommend this trip to anyone who enjoys cycling and wants to discover the beauty of France.
