  • Arrive at Sóti Lodge at your own arrangement and ease into the mountain retreat. After meeting the host, Ólöf Ýrr, we stretch our legs on a short hike up Sótahnjúkur, where sweeping fjord views set the tone for the days ahead. A soothing soak in the pool and sauna melts away travel fatigue before we gather for a three-course dinner at the lodge.

  • We set out for a full-day hike across Siglufjarðarskarð, a mountain pass linking the valleys of Fljótin and Siglufjörður with vast, cinematic views. Returning to the lodge, we unwind with aquatic stretching and floating relaxation before sitting down to a well-earned dinner.

  • We spend the day exploring Botnaleið, one of the peninsula’s most scenic mountain routes. Wildflowers, deep valleys, sweeping views and even patches of lingering snow make this a standout. Back at the lodge, the pool, sauna and dinner await.

  • We follow a spectacular combination of coastal and mountain-valley trails to the remote Siglunes peninsula, the outer sentinel of Siglufjörður. From here, a boat carries us back along the shoreline, with fishing, seabirds, and local stories woven into the journey. A calm evening at the lodge closes the day.

  • We stroll down the road to Langhús farm to meet the iconic Icelandic horse. After an introduction to horsemanship, we enjoy an afternoon ride through the open landscapes of Fljótin. The day ends with time in the pool and sauna, followed by dinner.

Sara competed in alpine skiing during her childhood and teenage years, up until she switched to coaching for her ski club. She earned diplomas as a ski instructor and coach and headed to Austria to work as a ski instructor for one winter. In order to become self-sufficient in skiing on glaciers and off piste, Sara gained mountaineering education and was soon guiding others in the mountains.

  • This North Iceland tour requires a good base level of fitness, and that you’re comfortable being active several hours a day. The hiking days are full but steady, following well-chosen mountain and valley routes at a manageable pace with breaks, scenery stops, and a packed lunch. The lodge’s daily pool, sauna, and guided stretching sessions also help your body recover between outings.

    The rest of the week balances activity with comfort. Horseback riding is gentle and suitable for beginners, white-water rafting is guided and doesn’t require prior experience, and all activities are adapted to the group’s pace and abilities. If you enjoy the outdoors, stay moderately active at home, and are excited for a week of exploring Iceland’s mountains, you’ll be perfectly fit for this adventure.

  • Here’s a list of the equipment you need to bring:

      • Day pack large enough to carry everything you might need throughout the day (around a 25-40L bag)

    Dress comfortably and for the weather in clothes you can move in. We suggest bringing clothing appropriate for the season. Layers are best and don’t wear jeans.

  • Group sizes and pricing

      • For this North Iceland tour, the usual client-to-guide ratio is 12:1. 
      • It takes a minimum of 6 people for this tour to operate. The maximum group size is set at 12 participants.

    Min. age requirements

      • If you are older than 18, you’re good to go.
      • Minors younger than 18 may be permitted to join the North Iceland tours on a case-by-case basis, but must be in the presence of a parent or legal guardian.

  • The price for this North Iceland tour is based on twin-share rooms, but a single occupancy room can be arranged at an additional fee. You can add it to your booking at checkout.

  • The starting point of your North Iceland tour is Sóti Lodge on Troll Peninsula, your lodging for the week. To get there, you first have to get to Reykjavik. From there, it takes about 5 hours to reach the Sóti Lodge by car. Getting to and from the Sóti Lodge is not included in the tour price, but your guides can help arrange it at an additional cost—feel free to leave us a note at checkout.

    You will meet your guide at the Sóti Lodge on Day 1 of the tour.

  • Deposits

    Secure your spot with a 30% deposit upon booking! The remaining 70% of the trip price must be paid 90 days prior to departure at the latest. If booking within 90 days of departure, the full amount is required at the time of booking.

    Cancellations

    Booking fees are non-refundable after a 48-hour grace period. During checkout, however, you can choose one of 57hours’ flexibility options—Basic, Flexible, or Super Flexible. Depending on which one you choose, a different cancellation policy will apply to your booking.

      • If cancelled within 48 hours of booking, a full refund will be issued.
      • If cancelled 90 or more days before departure, a 70% refund of the total trip price will be issued.
      • If cancelled within 89 days of departure, no refund will be issued.

    Flexible

      • If cancelled within 48 hours of booking, a full refund will be issued.
      • If cancelled 90 or more days before departure, a full refund of the total trip price will be issued.
      • If cancelled 60-89 days before departure, a 50% refund of the total trip price will be issued.
      • If cancelled within 59 days of departure, no refund will be issued.

    Super Flexible

      • If cancelled within 48 hours of booking, a full refund will be issued.
