This isn’t just a trip—it’s the kind of adventure that ruins all other ski trips forever. Welcome to four days of unfiltered heli skiing magic in the heart of Iceland’s Troll Peninsula! Based out of a cozy lodge, a heli will whisk us away to epic summits several times a day, and once we’re done hunting for the best untouched lines, we’ll end our days with a geothermal pool, sauna, or hot tub! Expect pristine slopes, and exceptional views, and dreamy descent on mountains around iglufjörður, Ólafsfjörður and Fljótin.

We’ll chase the best lines around Siglufjörður, Ólafsfjörður, and Fljótin, with expert guides ensuring every run is pure perfection. Join us for the ultimate heli-skiing adventure in Iceland!

  • Welcome to Iceland! Day 1 is all about arrival and settling in. From Akureyri Airport, a shuttle is organized and included in the price to transfer you to our Sóti Lodge. Make yourself at home, maybe take a swim in the next door Barðslaug pool, or just have a relaxed evening. Tomorrow, our heli skiing adventure begins!

  • We begin with a nice breakfast and then review avalanche and helicopter safety protocols. First day of skiing and adventures in North Iceland is ahead of us!

  • After a hearty breakfast, we’ll head out for an exhilarating day of heliskiing, taking in views of the surrounding mountains and the Arctic Ocean. Your guide sets the pace for the day, ensuring everyone enjoys skiing the pristine, wide-open terrain of the Troll Peninsula. We’ll pause for a scenic mountain lunch before continuing our runs. Once back at the lodge, you can unwind with après-ski snacks or relax in the geothermal pool, hot tub, and sauna. The day concludes with a wonderful three-course dinner, sharing stories of the day’s best turns.

    Skiing: Approximately 15,000 vertical ft / 4.500 m (7-8 runs) per day

  • On our final day, we don’t rush to say goodbye. After a final hearty breakfast at the lodge, we’ll head out for a thrilling half-day of heliskiing, squeezing in as many turns as possible in the morning light. It’s the perfect opportunity to visit any favorite spots one last time or find a new line on the Troll Peninsula. We’ll wrap up the adventure around midday, returning to the lodge to pack up before beginning the journey home, carrying the memories of an incredible Icelandic winter. A shuttle to Akureyri Airport is included.

Leifur is one of Iceland’s most experienced guides, with 35 years of experience. During his mountain guide career he has guided Mt Everest, as well as all other 7 continental peaks and ski expeditions to both the North- and the South pole. Leifur is the first person in the world to finish a double Adventure Grand Slam—climbing the 7 summits and reaching both poles twice! Leifur has been a key figure in Icelandic tourism and guiding, pioneering ski tours on the Troll Peninsula and helping establish guide training systems. A geologist by degree, he is the former director of Iceland’s National Avalanche Forecast Center and a past instructor for the Canadian Avalanche Association.

Ólafur or “Óli” is an experienced ski guide that has been leading groups all over Iceland and Greenland for decades. Óli is a man of many talents—between running the luxury hotel Kleif and operating “Inside the Volcano”, he always makes sure to reserve some time for his passions of heliskiing and rock climbing. Óli is just a good companion to have around!

Sara competed in alpine skiing during her childhood and teenage years, up until she switched to coaching for her ski club. She earned diplomas as a ski instructor and coach and headed to Austria to work as a ski instructor for one winter. In order to become self-sufficient in skiing on glaciers and off piste, Sara gained mountaineering education and was soon guiding others in the mountains.

  • This Iceland heli skiing adventure is suitable for intermediate off-piste skiers with good fitness. Whilst your guides expect great corn, snow conditions can be variable in the mountains and you should be comfortable riding in a variety of conditions.

  • There are four full days of heliskiing included in the trip.

    A typical day begins with a hearty breakfast at the lodge between 7 and 9 am, followed by a briefing with our guide to review the plan for the day and current conditions. By 09:45, the helicopter is ready to take us out for an exhilarating day of heliskiing across the Arctic terrain. We generally cover approximately 15,000 vertical feet per day (4,500 m), which averages about 7–8 runs.

    At midday, we’ll break for a scenic mountain lunch with a view before continuing our runs. We return to the lodge between 3 and 4 pm, where you can enjoy après-ski snacks and take advantage of the geothermal pool, hot tub, or sauna. The day concludes at 8 pm with a wonderful three-course dinner served at the lodge.

  • Technical backcountry ski touring gear

      • Skis / snowboard and bindings — your guide offers these for rental free of charge, high performance Blizzard freeride skis
      • Avalanche safety equipment (backpack with air system, Arva avalanche beacon, shovel, and probe) — your guide offers this for rental free of charge

  • Group sizes and pricing

      • For this Iceland heli skiing adventure, the usual client-to-guide ratio is 4:1.
      • It takes a minimum of 2 people for this tour to operate.
      • While only 4 guests can fit the Astar B2 helicopter (as well as a pilot and a guide), the maximum group size is set at 12 participants.
      • The length of the tour can be customized, and it’s also possible to organize private trips.

    Iceland heli skiing adventures can be arranged for larger groups. Contact us to make arrangements.

    Min. age requirements

      • If you are older than 18, you’re good to go.
      • Minors younger than 18 may be permitted to join the Iceland heli skiing adventure on a case-by-case basis, but must be in the presence of a parent or legal guardian.

    If your group has skiers under the age of 18, contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

  • The starting point of your Iceland heli ski adventure is the Sóti Lodge in the north of Iceland. From Keflavik Airport, you can fly into Akureyri Airport (AEY). This is where your guides will come and pick you up on Day 1 and transfer you to the lodge.

  • We highly recommend that you cover all your bases with insurance. To make your booking and traveling experience as carefree as possible, you’ll be offered to simply insure your trip with Redpoint at checkout.

  • To secure your spot, a non-refundable deposit in the amount of 20% is required at the time of booking. The remaining amount must be paid no later than 6 weeks prior to the trip departure. Once the trip is confirmed by the guide, the cancellation policy stated below applies. If you cancel the booking…

      • More than 8 weeks before the departure date, you are entitled to a refund in the amount of 80% of the full trip price (less the booking fees).
      • Within 8 weeks of the departure date, no refund will be issued.

    Please note that booking fees are non-refundable in all cases and will be deducted from the refund amount.
