In reality, this destination is a haven for experienced and adventurous trekkers and climbers, with challenging, technical ascents and epic backcountry travel that climaxes in views that eclipse the best Grand Canyon hikes. For the region, Mt. Fitz Roy is one of the most popular destinations. The peak is located in Parque Nacional Los Glaciers, and the trailheads can be accessed right in the town of El Chatan. While the opportunities for advanced exploration are seemingly unlimited, trekking to Mt. Fitz Roy is an accessible objective for hikers without in-depth technical skills or experience. The region is proud to offer plenty of resources, guides, and outfitters, making planning as hands-off as you want. Leaving from El Chatan allows for everything from day hikes to multi-day backpacking trips.
