• How fit do I need to be?

  This Rhine river bike & boat tour is designed to feel comfortable and achievable for most active travelers. A basic to moderate level of fitness is all you need—you should enjoy being on a bike for a few hours, but there’s no expectation of high endurance or athletic training. With the help of e-bikes, which are included in the tour, longer distances feel much easier and more relaxed.

  Over the course of the journey, the total cycling distance is around 270 km (167 miles), spread across several days, with the longest single ride reaching about 67 km (41 miles). Routes follow scenic, low-traffic paths through France, Germany, and the Netherlands, and a support vehicle is always available, giving you the freedom to ride as much—or as little—as you like.

• What do I need to bring?

  Here’s a list of the equipment you need to bring:

  • • Day pack large enough to carry everything you might need throughout the day (around a 25-40L bag)

  Dress comfortably and for the weather in clothes you can move in. We suggest bringing clothing appropriate for the season. Layers are best and don’t wear jeans.

• What are the rental e-bikes like?

  Rental e-bikes are VELO DE VILLE AEB Classic models, selected for comfort, reliability, and ease on this Rhine river bike & boat tour. E-bike rentals are included in the price of the tour.

  The step-through frame allows for easy mounting, while the Bosch motor system delivers smooth, quiet assistance throughout the ride. • Group sizes and age requirements

  • • For this Rhine river bike & boat tour, the usual client-to-guide ratio is 8:1. 
    • It takes a minimum of 8 people for this tour to operate. The maximum group size is set at 16 participants.
    • If you’re a solo traveller, you’re welcome to join the tour, but paying for the single occupancy cabin is mandatory. It is not possible to join the tour solo and share the cabin with another guest.

  Min. age requirements

  • • If you are older than 18, you’re good to go.
    • Minors younger than 18 may be permitted to join the Rhine river bike & boat tour on a case-by-case basis, but must be in the presence of a parent or legal guardian.

  If your group has participants under the age of 18, contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

• What's the difference between cabins?

  All cabins throughout the three boats offer the same thoughtful level of comfort, with private bathrooms, climate control, flexible bedding, and well-designed living space. The main difference between cabin categories is their location on the ship and how they connect to the river scenery.

  • • Cabins C are located on the Haydn Deck, the lowest deck, and feature a viewing window that brings in natural light while keeping the space calm and cozy.
    • Cabins B are found on the Strauss Deck and include a lowerable panoramic window, offering open views and a closer connection to the passing landscape.
    • Cabins A and the AMADEUS Suite are situated on the Mozart Deck, the highest passenger deck. Here, cabins enjoy elevated views, with the suite adding extra space and a walk-out balcony for stepping outside and taking in the river at your own pace.

• Is a single occupancy cabin available?

  The price for this Rhine bike & boat tour is based on twin-share cabins, but a single occupancy cabin can be arranged at an additional fee. You can add it to your booking at checkout.

  Solo travelers are welcome to join, but adding the single cabin surcharge is mandatory—this will be automatically sorted at checkout once you tell us if you’re traveling alone or with someone else.

• Getting there and meeting location

  The starting point of your Rhine river bike & boat tour is Basel, Switzerland. To get there, most people fly into Zurich Airport (ZRH), one hour away from Basel, or EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (BSL), 20 minutes away from Basel. It’s best to use public transport or a taxi.

  To make your arrival hassle-free, let your guides can arrange airport transfers for you—leave us a note if interested at checkout.

  You will meet your guide and board the boat at 5 pm on Day 1. Note that the tour ends in Amsterdam.

• Safety measures and insurance

• Deposit and cancellation policy

  To secure your spot, a deposit in the amount of 40% is required at the time of booking. The remaining amount must be paid no later than 90 calendar days prior to the trip departure. Once the trip is confirmed by the guide, the cancellation policy stated below applies. If you cancel the booking…

  • • More than 120 days before the departure date, you are entitled to a refund in the amount of 80% of the full trip price (less the booking fees).
    • 119 to 60 days before the departure date, you are entitled to a refund in the amount of 60% of the full trip price (less the booking fees).
    • 59 to 31 days before the departure date, you are entitled to a refund in the amount of 40% of the full trip price (less the booking fees).
    • 30 to 15 days before the departure date, you are entitled to a refund in the amount of 20% of the full trip price (less the booking fees).
    • 14 to 5 days before the departure date, you are entitled to a refund in the amount of 5% of the full trip price (less the booking fees).
    • Within 4 days of the departure date, no refund will be issued.
