This charming farmhouse nurtures the traditional architecture of the Alentejo region. There is a lovely lush garden with a swimming pool, so don’t miss out on taking a swim while the only sound you hear is the chirping of birds.
Each room has a different theme, inviting you to explore the arts of cork extraction, olive and grape picking, or bread making. Featuring a living room, an honesty bar, books, music, games, and much more, this house has all modern comforts within a rustic and authentic atmosphere.
In the dining room, you can enjoy breakfast with a view of orange orchards. You will taste lots of homemade and farmhouse-sourced food, including jams, cottage cheese with olive oil and oregano, or with honey and walnuts, and cake. There will always be plenty of regional cheeses, chorizos, and Alentejo bread, as well as fruit and vegetables from farmhouse gardens.
While you take a stroll around the house, you’ll likely come across pets and domestic animals, including dogs, donkeys, sheep, chickens, and lambs. There’s also a Classic Car museum, a unique private collection and an exclusive experience for the guests!
Wonderful 8 day walking tour of rural and coastal southern Portugal. The local guides, Teresa and Joanna, taylored the walks to suit our abilities and interests. We visited Neolithic standing stones, mediaeval villages, a cork factory and an organic herb farm. We followed the trail of an old aqueduct as it descended gently into Evora. We ate loquats and citrus straight from the tree and sampled traditional food and wine at farms and in small fishing villages. We enjoyed picnic lunches of olive oil, salads, cheeses and ham partnered with local wine whilst watching the Atlantic waves in an unspoilt nature reserve. We dawdled in the ocean and traversed long sandy beaches. On a practical level, transfers, meals and accommodation were all well organised
