Peruvian cuisine is a flavorful blend of indigenous, Spanish, African, and Asian influences, resulting in a vibrant culinary scene that’s as diverse as the country itself. Known for its fresh ingredients and unique spices, Peruvian dishes showcase the country’s rich agricultural bounty—from the coast to the Andes. The best part is that we’ll explore Peruvian cuisine with private cooking classes!
One of the standout dishes (and the one we’ll learn how to make on this culinary hiking tour) is lomo saltado, a stir-fried mix of beef, onions, tomatoes, and Peruvian spices, typically served with rice and fries on the side.
We’ll also learn how to make causa limeña, a traditional Peruvian dish made with mashed potatoes, peppers, and avocado, similar to a tiny casserole. In the end, we’ll make the beloved Pisco sour, Peru’s national cocktail made with Pisco (a local grape brandy), lime juice, simple syrup, egg white, and a dash of bitters.
