the Haute Route on mountain e-bikes with e-Alps is a “once in a life time” experience. I was impressed by the 5 * service. everything just worked ; the scenic bike trails, the lodging, the picnics, the rental mountain bikes… but especially the guides with their personalised tips & help with each & every participant. will definitely join again to try another route.

  • For this guided Haute Route e-MTB tour, you need to be in good physical shape. You will need to be able to bike between four and six hours for 4 consecutive days, crossing around 30 miles (50 km) each day.

You should be an active person and exercise three days a week for at least 30 minutes, and you feel good after a demanding workout with some high-intensity intervals.

What is also necessary for this trip is that you have some limited MTB or off-the-paved-road cycling experience and have mastered some basic technical skills.

That said, keep in mind that this tour is designed keeping in mind the philosophy that adventures are for everybody! If desired, some sections can be hiked and some distances cut. Additionally, you will always be able to ride at your own pace—it’s not a competition. Furthermore, the terrain chosen for this tour is not rugged and highly technical—you’ll mostly ride on scenic paths and roads. If you feel unwell at any point during the day or no longer wish to ride, your guides will try to motivate you, but if that fails to, the follow-up vehicle will happily take you to the evening’s accommodation to rest and recover.

  • For this Haute Route e-mountain bike guided adventure, it is recommended that you have 1 year of mountain biking experience. You should be able to control your speed and trajectory on forest trails and flowing singletrack trails. If you have solid cycling experience, but haven’t tried mountain biking, it may be enough going off the paved road to prepare for this tour. Keep in mind that you will always have a guide by your side who will observe your technique, motivate you, and make the riding less strenuous if it gets too difficult for you. Another major thing to consider is that you’ll be aided by your e-bike, which makes riding considerably easier. Additionally, you will be able to opt for hiking instead of riding some sections. If at some point you won’t be able to finish a section for that day, there will also be an option to get transferred to your accommodation.

  • Yes, your guides offer e-bike rental—you can add it to your booking at checkout. You have a choice between a high-performance e-MTB (Flyer Uproc X) and a slightly more expensive top-tier enduro e-MTB (Flyer Uproc EVO:X 6.10).

What’s the difference? The Flyer Uproc EVO:X 6.10, a top-tier enduro e-MTB built for aggressive terrain, maximum control, and uncompromising performance. While the included Flyer Uproc X is a reliable all-mountain e-bike for versatile trail use, the EVO:X 6.10 takes things further with race-ready upgrades in frame, suspension, power, and components.

Here’s a difference breakdown between these two e-bikes:

    Frame & Suspension:

      • Uproc X : Durable aluminum frame with 160mm travel — ideal for general trail riding and rental use.
      • Uproc EVO:X 6.10 (premium): Lightweight carbon frame with 170mm front / 165mm rear travel — perfect for steep, technical descents and high-speed stability.

    Motor & Battery:

      • Uproc X: Bosch Performance Line CX with an impressive 100Nm torque and 800Wh battery — greater power for climbing, with optional range extender compatibility (PowerMore 250).
      • Uproc EVO:X 6.10 (premium): Bosch Performance Line CX Smart System with 85Nm torque and a 750Wh battery — strong, efficient, and highly responsive.

    Suspension:

      • Uproc X: Fox 36 or RockShox Psylo fork with RockShox Deluxe rear — smooth and capable, but more trail-focused.
      • Uproc EVO:X 6.10 (premium): Premium Fox 38 fork + Float X rear shock — tuned for aggressive enduro terrain.

    Braking & Drivetrain:

      • Uproc X: Similar Shimano Deore drivetrain, paired with Tektro/TRP brakes — solid and serviceable, but not as high-end.
      • Uproc EVO:X 6.10 (premium): Shimano Deore 12-speed with MT520 brakes (203mm rotors) — reliable stopping power and efficient gearing.

    Wheels & Handling:

      • Uproc X: Full 29” DT Swiss wheels for stable all-mountain performance.
      • Uproc EVO:X 6.10 (premium): Mixed wheel setup (29” front / 27.5” rear) for better rollover and nimble handling.
  • Your guides don’t recommend it. Completing this route in seven days—45–50 km (25-31 mi) and 1,000 m (3,300 ft) of climbing per day—is nearly impossible unless you’re an elite athlete. But that’s not the goal.

After testing both regular and e-bikes, your guides found e-bikes are the best way to experience the Haute Route: climbs become fun, descents still rewarding, and there’s more time to enjoy the Alps and connect with the group.

With adjustable modes, e-bikes keep everyone together and let you choose between challenge and support—making the journey both epic and enjoyable.

  • Personal equipment:

      • Mountain bike-specific helmet
      • Mountain bike-specific shoes (can also work as hiking shoes)
      • Bike gloves and glasses
      • Knee and elbow pads
      • Waterproof jacket
      • Biking shorts (at least 2 pairs)
      • Long-sleeved base layers (merino wool ideal)
      • Short-sleeved and long-sleeved biking tops
      • Socks (at least 4 pairs)
      • Buff (neck gaiter)
      • Warm down jacket for evenings
      • Hat and gloves
      • Sunscreen
      • Hydration system (Camelback ideal)
      • 20L (minimum) daypack with rain cover
      • A towel
      • A swimsuit
      • Your toiletry bag (including SPF)

Bike essentials (if you rent the bike with your guides, they will take care of all the equipment):

      • Bike-specific brake pads (x2 sets)
      • If you use tubeless tires, bring everything needed for repairs
      • Tire repair kit, inner tubes (min. 2), and small pump
      • Chain-specific ‘quick link’
      • Additional derailleur hanger
      • Spare parts unique to your bike (if applicable)
      • Full service, including suspension, must be undertaken prior to the trip
      • Extra battery for the bike
      • Battery charger

If you’re bringing your own bike, make sure it is full suspension and serviced for maximum enjoyment during the adventure. A second battery is also necessary as the trip stages are long and the Alps are steep!

Keep in mind that this guided Haute Route e-MTB tour occurs in the mountains, where the weather can be unpredictable. Therefore, it is important to have enough warm clothes and some waterproof layers—there’s no bad weather, only bad clothes!

  • Group sizes and prices:

      • It takes a minimum of 5 people for this tour to operate. The maximum group size for this group tour is set at 10 participants.
      • It’s possible to organize private adventures—the minimum number of people is set at 5 participants, and maximum at 10-11. Trips can be customized to your group.
      • If you’d like to have a room to yourself, you can add a single supplement to your booking. If you’re traveling solo and don’t select this option, you agree to share a room with another cyclist. However, if the guide is unable to find a suitable roommate, a single supplement will be forced.

E-Mountain biking along the Haute Route can be arranged for private groups. Contact us prior to booking.

    Min. age requirements:

      • If you are older than 18, you’re good to go.
      • If you have people older than 60 in your group, please contact us beforehand.
      • Minors above the age of 14 are able to go on these trips. That said, make sure they’re strong enough to handle sustained climbs and that they’re really able to participate in these tours. Please keep in mind that e-bikes might weigh up to 24 kg (53 lbs).

If your group has riders under the age of 18, contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

  • To get to Vercorin, the starting point of the adventure, most people fly into Geneva International Airport (GVA), one hour away. Once you arrive, there are several ways to reach your destination. We recommend taking a train ride to the town of Sierre (2 hours). Sierre is located just 5 miles from Vercorin and they are connected by bus.

Once you and your guide agree on the details of your itinerary, your guide will suggest the best place to meet, usually in the center of Vercorin in the morning of Day 1. As riding begins right away, we suggest you arrive one day before the start of the Haute Route e-MTB and hike guided trip—especially if flying from far away.

  • We highly recommend that you cover all your bases with insurance. To make your booking and traveling experience as carefree as possible, you’ll be offered to simply insure your trip with Redpoint at checkout.

Redpoint—the official 57hours insurance partner—tailors protection packages for adventure travel, offering a comprehensive travel program, even in remote locations! Trip cancellation, natural disasters, pandemic coverage, medical evacuation, primary medical expenses—regardless of the travel interruption that may happen, Redpoint will have you covered.

  • Deposits

Secure your spot with a 30% deposit upon booking! The remaining 70% of the trip price must be paid 90 days prior to departure at the latest. If booking within 90 days of departure, the full amount is required at the time of booking.

    Cancellations

Booking fees are non-refundable after a 48-hour grace period. During checkout, however, you can choose one of 57hours’ flexibility options—Basic, Flexible, or Super Flexible. Depending on which one you choose, a different cancellation policy will apply to your booking.
