The day begins with a 5:30am boat ride to Sirena, often accompanied by dolphins, whales, or sea turtles gliding alongside. After stepping barefoot onto the beach to keep your shoes dry, a short 2-km (1.2-mi) hike brings us to the Sirena Ranger Station, where we’ll register and prepare for the day ahead. From there, we’ll spend the day exploring Corcovado’s diverse network of trails—perhaps the 2-km (1.2-mi) Los Espaveles trail with its dense vegetation, the 3-km (1.9-mi) Ollas trail beloved by birdwatchers, or the 1-km (0.6 mi) Sirena trail along the river mouth where marine life is often spotted. Lunch is served at the station, with more time in the afternoon for additional hikes before winding down at the beach or resting back at the station. Dinner is served at 5:30pm, and at 8pm all lights are turned off—so be sure to have a flashlight, headlamp, or phone by your bed.

My wife and I just returned from a 3 day trip in Corcovado National Park. We saw a tremendous variety of wildlife, thanks to our hardworking guide Cindy Guzman Molina. Cindy is very strong on bird ID, as well as mammal and reptile ID. Cindy had us up early to be outside while animals were most active. Cindy’s enthusiasm and knowledge made it a special trip!
