With this Garibaldi Lake day hike, you’ll get to experience the stunning Garibaldi Lake and its surroundings, including lush forests and a spectacular glacier as the backdrop! This challenging full-day hike near Squamish takes you deep into British Columbia’s rugged Coast Mountains. Expect steep climbs, advanced alpine terrain, and rewarding views of jagged peaks, glacial valleys, and endless evergreen forests. Along the way, you’ll traverse technical sections and high ridgelines with sweeping panoramas that make every step worthwhile.   • In order to join this Lake Garibaldi day hike, you need to have a great level of fitness as this is a challenging hike with significant elevation gain. You can expect to hike up to 21 km (13 mi) and gain up to 850 m (2,790 ft) in elevation. The hike typically takes between 6 and 8 hours to complete.

    Keep in mind, you’ll be carrying your own daypack with essentials for the day. Given the challenging terrain and difficulty level, this hike is best suited for experienced hikers.

  • Liability waivers are a standard part of all guided outdoor adventures. Recently, the requirements have become a bit more rigorous for ACMG guides—meaning that you’ll need to agree to the signing of the waiver at the time of booking.

    Prior to booking, we ask you to review the waiver. During the checkout process, you’ll have to acknowledge the risks and agree to the signing of the waiver. You are required to bring a printed copy on the trip.

  • Here’s a list of the equipment you need to bring:

      • Day pack large enough to carry everything you might need throughout the day (around a 25-40L bag)
      • Hiking poles — optional
      • Water bottle or hydration bladder (2L capacity)
      • Lightweight hiking boots or shoes
      • Comfortable hiking clothes 
      • Spare clothes for layering
      • Waterproof rain jacket
      • Swimsuit — optional
      • Sunhat
      • Toiletries (sunscreen, hand sanitizer, bug spray, tissues, etc.)
      • Headlamp or flashlight
      • Sunglasses
      • Camera — optional (but recommended)

    Dress comfortably and for the weather in clothes you can move in. We suggest bringing clothing appropriate for the season. Layers are best and don’t wear jeans.

  • Group sizes and pricing

      • For this Lake Garibali day hike, the usual client-to-guide ratio is 10:1. 
      • It takes a minimum of 3 people for this tour to operate. The maximum group size is set at 10 participants.

    Lake Garibaldi day hikes can be arranged for larger groups. Contact us to make arrangements.

    Min. age requirements

      • If you are older than 18, you’re good to go.
      • Minors younger than 18 may be permitted to join the Lake Garibaldi day hike on a case-by-case basis, but must be in the presence of a parent or legal guardian.

    If your group has participants under the age of 18, contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

  • The starting point of your Lake Garibaldi day hike is Squamish. To get there, most people fly into Vancouver International Airport (YVR). From there, you can take a shuttle service, public transport, or rent a car to reach Squamish—it will take you 1-2 hours.

    You’ll meet your guide in the morning of Day 1, so if you’re arriving from afar, it’s best that you arrive in Squamish a day before the hike.
