Itinerary

Camí de Cavalls South isn’t just a hike—it’s an island adventure that unfolds step by step. Over eight days, you’ll follow Menorca’s historic coastal path, winding through pine forests, past ancient watchtowers, and onto pristine beaches that mass tourism forgot. Swim in hidden coves, wander through charming towns, and end each day with a meal worth the miles. With carefully chosen accommodations and all the planning done for you, this trip is about freedom at your own pace.

  • These walking holidays start in Ciutadella, where you will spend the first night. You will have time to enjoy this beautiful city, walk through the narrow streets with stone houses of Marés, enjoy the local cuisine, or make purchases in one of the many shops. It’s recommended to go to bed early, because the next day you’ll walk the first stages of Cami de Cavalls South from Ciutadella to Cap D’Artrutx.

  • Today, you will walk the first stage of the Cami de Cavalls South. This will take you from Ciutadella to the Cap D’Artrutx lighthouse. You will walk over low-lying cliffs that overlook the turquoise blue sea of the beaches of Santandría, Cala Blanca, Cala en Bastó, and the Marina de Son Olivar. You will spend the night in Cala en Bosch and, while enjoying a delicious meal, see the beautiful sunset of Menorca.

  • You will leave Cap D’Artrutx and start the 2nd stage of Cami de Cavalls South that takes you along some of the most beautiful beaches in the south of Menorca. The stage ends at the famous Cala Galdana beach. You will walk on well-maintained paths between pine forests facing the Mediterranean Sea, inviting you to take a swim. You can choose between the bays of Son Saura, Es Talaier, Turqueta, or opt for gems from Cala Macarella and Macarelleta. You can go to the beach bar of Cala Macarella or that of Cala Galdana at the end of your stage.

  • On Day 4, you’ll go from Cala Galdana to Sant Tomás. You’ll go inland and see some of the most important canyons of the island, such as Trebalúger and Sa Cova. You can also choose to continue to follow the path along the coast, arriving at the beaches of Trebalúger, Fustam, and Escorxada. Before you arrive in Sant Tomas, you will pass the beach of Binigaus, a paradise on Menorca, so feel free to go for a swim. You will spend the night in Sant Tomás to rest from today’s walk.

  • Today, you’ll go from Sant Tomás to Cala en Porter. This stage is an easy walk. You will walk along some stunning views, such as the cliff area of Atalis, until you reach the magic sandy dunes of Son Bou. Then, it will be time to enjoy a well-deserved, delicious paella! After you have passed the hotels of Son Bou, you will go up until you see the beach of Llucalari from above, a unique place on Cami de Cavalls South. The road then descends to Cala en Porter, where you will spend the night. This is a very special location for watching the sunset.

  • On Day 6, you will go through the fields until you reach the canyon of Es Canutells with its olmos forest. Its stunning views and old houses represent a part of the history of Menorca. You will stay for the night in an agroturismo in Binibéquer and enjoy a typical meal. You will be picked up and brought back on path the next morning.

  • Today, the camino goes through easy terrain, a comfortable and no-slopes track that will lead you to the Alacaufar tower. The road goes inland from here to Cala San Esteve. You will continue the path to Es Castell and through the streets of the old town that will lead you to Maó. Enjoy the bars and the gastronomy, but also look at the special buildings that still have remains of different cultures. In the port of Maó, the southern route of the Camí de Cavalls ends.

    Dress comfortably and for the weather in clothes you can move in. We suggest bringing clothing appropriate for the season. Layers are best and don’t wear jeans.

  • A self-guided tour is an independent exploration without a formal guide leading the way. Instead of being part of a group with a tour leader, you will navigate the tour yourself, using resources provided by the operator, such as maps and guidebooks, depending on what’s available. Your guide will also take care of other parts of the tour, such as 24/7 support, GPS tracks, accommodation, and transportation. Breakfasts and some dinners are included on this trip.

  • Group sizes and pricing

      • It takes a minimum of 4 people for this tour to operate. The maximum group size is set at 12 participants.

    Hiking in Spain can be arranged for larger groups. Contact us to make arrangements.

  • The starting point of your Cami de Cavalls walking holidays is Ciutadella. To get there, most people fly into Mahon Menorca Airport (MAH). From there, you can take a shuttle service, public transport, or rent a car to reach Ciutadella.

  • Deposits
    Secure your spot with a 30% deposit upon booking! The remaining 70% of the trip price must be paid 90 days prior to departure at the latest. If booking within 90 days of departure, the full amount is required at the time of booking.

    Cancellations
    Booking fees are non-refundable after a 48-hour grace period. During checkout, however, you can choose one of 57hours’ flexibility options—Basic, Flexible, or Super Flexible. Depending on which one you choose, a different cancellation policy will apply to your booking.

      • If canceled within 48 hours of booking, a full refund will be issued.
      • If canceled 60 or more days before departure, a 70% refund of the total trip price will be issued.
      • If canceled within 59 days of departure, no refund will be issued.

    Flexible

      • If canceled within 48 hours of booking, a full refund will be issued.
      • If canceled 60 or more days before departure, a full refund of the total trip price will be issued.
      • If canceled 30-59 days before departure, a 50% refund of the total trip price will be issued.
      • If canceled within 29 days of departure, no refund will be issued.

    Super Flexible

      • If canceled within 48 hours of booking, a full refund will be issued.
      • If canceled 30 or more days before departure, a full refund of the total trip price will be issued.
      • If canceled within 29 days of departure, a 50% refund of the total trip price will be issued.
