Avalanche Course Level 1, Colorado

Duration
2 days
Season
December through March
Difficulty
Easy: No specific difficulty descriptions available for this activity.

If you’re serious about backcountry skiing, an avalanche safety course like AAI isn’t just a good idea—it’s essential. Here’s the deal: the backcountry doesn’t come with ropes or ski patrol. It’s just you, your crew, and the mountains, which means your safety depends on your knowledge and decision-making. This course in Colorado—either Estes Park or Frisco—combines 2 virtual sessions with 2 field days, and dives deep into understanding terrain, weather, snowpack, and how they all interact. You’ll learn to read the conditions, assess risk, and make smart calls that keep you and your crew safe. Plus, there’s hands-on practice with real-world scenarios, so when things get serious, you’ll know how to respond!
