With mountains being his profession and his favorite pastime, you will find him up there most of the time. Luka is also a passionate snowboarder, competing in freestyle and big air disciplines, as well as being the head organizer of the Freestyle National Cup of Slovenia. Luka has an exceptionally thorough knowledge of the local mountains, nature, culture, traditional food and will also give you the best tips on where to go and what to do after the tour. On the rare occasion when he is not in the mountains, he enjoys canyoning, rock climbing, and surfing.

After finishing his career as a road cyclist, Luka committed professionally to the mountains. He’s a former record holder of Triglav ascent, a 4x times winner of Slovenia’s toughest vertical run, in top 3 in Vertical Kilometer race, and in top 15 in the world of ski tour racing. He also managed to climb 5 of Slovenia’s highest mountains in less than 14 hours! Luka has a big passion for showing these epic mountains to others and sharing his love for them, also making sure to adjust his tempo to everyone’s comfort level.

  • 57hours is committed to providing safe outdoor adventure experiences. We require all guides using our platform to have a COVID-19 safety plan and to make the details of that plan accessible to travelers.   • The best thing about this hiking trip in Slovenia’s Julian Alps is that it’s fit for beginners. There are incredible options for all skill levels in the area, but this trip focuses on shorter and less demanding objectives over an entire week, giving you ample time to relax, take in the beautiful landscapes, and enjoy the cultural aspects of Slovenia and the Julian Alps. The average walking time each day is 3 hours in gradual terrain with no major ascents. The rest of the time will be spent sightseeing, visiting museums or according to your interests. Your tour guide will take great care of you in Slovenia’s Julian Alps, so if you encounter any difficulties during your hikes, the pace/route can be adjusted.

  • For clothing, we recommend bringing:

      • Lightweight hiking boots or shoes
      • Spare clothes for layering
      • Insulation jacket and rain jacket
      • Spare socks, underwear, and shirts
      • Sunhat 

    Here’s a list of other things you’ll need:

      • Day pack large enough to carry items you will need during one day (around a 25 L)
      • Hiking poles — optional
      • Water bottle or hydration bladder (2L capacity)
      • Toiletries (sunscreen, hand sanitizer, bug spray, toilet paper, etc.)
      • Sunglasses
      • Camera — optional (but recommended)
      • Snacks
      • ID card
      • Cash for personal spending (including lunches and dinners)

    Dress comfortably and for the weather in clothes you can move in. We suggest bringing clothing appropriate for the season. Layers are best and don’t wear jeans.

  • Group sizes and prices:

      • For this guided group adventure in Slovenia’s Julian Alps, the maximum client-to-guide ratio is 8:1. 
      • It takes a minimum of 2 people for this tour to operate. 
      • The cost is per person and decreases by 15 percent if the number of people joining hits 4. 

    Hiking holidays in the Slovenian Alps can be arranged for larger groups. Contact us to make arrangements.

    Min. age requirements:

      • If you are older than 18, you’re good to go.
      • Minors younger than 18 may be permitted to join the hike on a case-by-case basis, but must be in the presence of a parent or legal guardian.

    If your group has hikers under the age of 18, contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

  • Your tour starts in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. To get there, most people fly into Ljubljana Airport. You will meet your guide somewhere in the city in the morning on the first day and get transferred to Bled (a one-hour drive), where your hiking starts.

  • For set dates, a 25% deposit to secure your place is due upon booking. The remaining amount is paid 2 months (60 days) prior to departure. Once the trip is confirmed by the guide, the cancellation policy stated below applies. 

      • If Client cancels the Booking anytime prior to sixty (60) calendar days in advance of the trip contemplated by the booking, Client is entitled to a refund in the amount of seventy five percent (75%) of the total amount paid. 
      • For cancellations thirty (30) to sixty (60) calendar days in advance, Client is entitled to a refund in the amount of fifty percent (50%) of the total amount paid when Booking. 
      • After that deadline, Client is not entitled to any refund. Any reimbursable expenses arising out of the Booking incurred by Guide prior to the date of cancellation (including but not limited to plane tickets, car rental payments, and lodging or transportation fees) are non refundable as soon as they are incurred by the Guide.
