  • Winter hiking in Iceland reaches its most dramatic form on this 4-day journey into Landmannalaugar’s remote highlands. Traveling by super jeep and moving on snowshoes, we explore a landscape shaped by fire and ice—frozen lava fields, steaming geothermal vents, and snow-covered rhyolite peaks. Guided by experienced locals, days are spent immersed in silence and stark beauty, while evenings bring the reward of natural hot pools and, if conditions allow, northern lights glowing overhead.

    • We begin our adventure in Reykjavík, meeting at the basecamp by the harbor to get to know each other, review the plan, and prepare our gear. From here, we head into Iceland’s interior by super jeep, traveling deep into the Highlands. The journey itself is part of the adventure, crossing remote winter terrain as the landscape becomes increasingly wild and dramatic. By the time we reach Landmannalaugar, we are fully immersed in the heart of the Highlands and settle into our mountain hut for the night.

      Meals: Lunch, dinner

Jeep that will drive you on you Iceland winter tour
    • We spend two full days exploring the winter landscapes of Landmannalaugar. Snow-covered rhyolite mountains, frozen lava fields, and wide valleys shape our routes as we learn how to move confidently through winter terrain. Guided by conditions and weather, we navigate snow-covered valleys, practice essential winter travel skills, and adjust our plans as needed. When the weather turns, we stay close to the hut to focus on navigation, terrain awareness, or avalanche rescue techniques. At the end of each day, we return to the hut and relax in the nearby natural hot pools, soaking in the warmth as steam rises into the cold air.
