Are you a climber wanting to take your climbing up a level? Take the weekend to go outside and improve your climbing skills with a female AMGA-certified guide. Join your all-women group and together with your guide, decide on your objectives. Climb a grade harder, learn a new skill, or just climb with a group of ladies at a similar level! Come join us outside with like-minded women climbers to scale the vermilion desert sandstone in sunny Red Rock.

Day One of your weekend in Red Rock is spent establishing a baseline for the group. You will start climbing and getting to know each other to slowly start. setting some goals. You will review technical skills, lead belaying, mock leading, etc. Or just getting comfortable moving our bodies on sandstone rock.

Today we will focus in on the topics the group wants, whether it’s climbing harder grades, diving into movement, or working on a technical skill at a more specific venue. The goal of this day is to give participants a piece to walk away with that empowers them in their climbing practice. Once you’re done with this climbing course, you’ll be ready for new adventures!

You need to have a good level of fitness to participate in these two-day camps. For the basic Intro to Outdoor Climbing camp, participants should expect approaches of 15-30 minute hike over easy to moderate hiking terrain. For the more advanced climbers attending Intro to Trad Climbing, this camp is physical and requires fitness and stamina to access the climbs and climb them. The approach to most climbs is approximately an hour on uneven terrain.

These two-day camps are for beginner to intermediate climbers looking to develop existing skills and build community with other like-minded women. Participants will be split into groups depending on experience level.
Red Rock Canyon has plenty of options for beginner climbers. Whether you’ve never climbed before or are transitioning from the gym to outdoor climbing, your guide will customize the day to suit your skill level and objectives. With a guide by your side, you’ll learn something new, stay safe on the rocks, and most importantly, have fun!
For intermediate climbers, Red Rock Canyon has loads of routes to spend the day on. Your guide will discuss your objectives as a group, and in two days, you’ll progress your climbing skills with female AMGA-certified guides. Let your guides plan the weekend so you can focus on developing your skills and bond with other female participants while climbing the classic routes or best hidden gems the area has to offer.

Your guides can provide any personal climbing gear (helmet, harness, climbing shoes, belay devices, PAS, etc.) at no additional cost, though if you have your own, you are encouraged to bring it (especially climbing shoes). All ropes & protection (cams, quickdraws, slings, etc.) is provided by your guides.

- Sticky rubber approach shoes (highly recommended as most approaches involve a lot of slick rock), running shoes or hiking shoes

Considerations

- Warm Weather – (May-Sept) The sun is intense and hydration is vital!. Hydrate the night before your climb. Consider freezing your water bottles or putting ice in them. Light colored and loose fitting clothes will help keep you cool.
- Cold Weather – (Nov-April) Bring gloves and a warm hat that will fit under your helmet. Bring extra layers like long underwear and a heavier winter jacket to keep warm when the sun ducks behind clouds of dips below the canyon walls.

Group sizes and prices:
- These two-day women’s climbing camps run with a group size of 6-8 people with two guides. The usual guest-to-guide ratio is 4:1.
- Cost is per person and it doesn’t decrease as the group grows.
Open to climbers of all skill levels, participants will be divided into two groups of similar experience and skill level to ensure that everyone gets the most out of their experience.
Min. age requirements:
- If you are older than 21, you’re good to go.

To get to Red Rock Canyon, most people fly into McCarran International Airport (LAS). The Las Vegas Strip is a 20-minute car ride away from the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
On the day of your climb, you will meet with your guide at the West end of Las Vegas, 11720 West Charleston blvd, and make your way as a group to the Red Rock Canyon.

We highly recommend that you cover all your bases with both emergency medical and travel insurance.
With medical insurance, if you have an accident or medical emergency on or off the mountain, you’ll avoid paying out of pocket for costly expenses. This covers everything from hospital treatments to emergency air transportation and more. Travel insurance covers canceled flights, natural disasters and other scenarios that may interrupt your travel plans.
